Chapter 102: Moon and Loot

The reason mattered a lot to me. If possible, I would like to know if she really wanted to know about the moon or just wanted to hear about it because it was me who would explain it to her.

"The moon is thin," I began. "It looks like someone took a silver coin and broke it in half."

I kept stealing glances over at Viora as I continued to look at the moon and think about words to explain it that could do it justice.

"Moreover, its edges are shining more than the moon itself."

As I was talking, Viora interrupted me.

"Beautiful?" she asked, and I squinted my eyes and tilted my head to the side while looking at the moon.

"Lonely...

It looks lonely."

Hearing me, Viora smiled and repeated the word "lonely" after me. Her facial expression couldn’t really sit well with the word she had let out.

I would have understood it if she was a bit sad after hearing me describe it like that, since she had been through lonely times, but she was smiling and giggling?

"Hehe," she raised her hand and covered her mouth with her fist.

"Js.. lk... Y... A... M..." she mumbled some words while coughing softly, so I couldn’t really get what she was trying to say.

"What did you say?" I asked her.

Cough.

She cleared her throat again and gradually turned the back of her head toward me as if she was trying to avoid my gaze.

"L... Cough... Cough... lonely, just like you and me."

’Oh,’

’That is what she was saying.’

I nodded after finally hearing what she had said, but soon my eyes widened with a sudden realization.

’She... She...’

My eyes remained wide as I stared at the back of Viora’s head.

’Wait a minute.’

I replayed the sounds she had just mumbled in my mind.

"Js.. lk... Y... A... M..."

She said it was "Just like you and me." But the letters didn’t match that at all.

"Y... A... M..." wasn’t "you and me." It was "You are mine."

Thinking that, my heart felt like it skipped a beat.

I looked at her small shoulders, which were still tense as she kept her back turned toward me. She was actively pretending to look at the faintly lit stone path just to avoid meeting my eyes.

She thought she had covered it up with her fake coughing fit. She thought I was too dense to notice the difference in her words. But she doesn’t know I had caught her.

A small smile tugged at the corner of my lips.

’Seriously, this girl...’

I didn’t call her out on it. If I brought it up right now, her face would turn redder than the brick I had just tossed away. That was the most probable outcome.

So, instead, I stepped closer to her and reached down and grabbed her hand, which she had pulled away after coughing.

"Let’s go home," I murmured. "The air is getting cold since it is the rainy season."

Viora didn’t say anything, but her fingers squeezed mine to show me that she agreed with me.

.....

It took us another ten minutes of walking through the quiet streets of the city before the familiar iron gates of the villa came into view.

As soon as we stepped inside, I flicked the light switch by the door and illuminated the interior. Before going out to the Gate, I had turned them off because I didn’t know how long it would take, but surprisingly, we came back on the same day.

Yet, thinking about it is making me feel stupid. Why did I have to worry about electric bills when Elena is a freaking billionaire? It seems my old habits are acting up.

Click.

The moment the lights came on, Viora immediately let go of my hand. She walked over to the long couch and slumped onto it with a heavy sigh and buried her face into one of the soft cushions.

Without her always trying to sense her surroundings, she really did look like a completely exhausted normal girl.

"Are you going to sleep right away?" I asked as I locked the front door behind us.

"No..." her muffled voice came from inside the cushion. "I am just... recharging. My head feels heavy."

"Take a bath first," I said and walked over to the couch. I reached out and gently patted the cap covering her short hair. "You still have dried water on your clothes. I will prepare some hot tea while you clean up."

Viora rolled her head over as her eyes pointed in my direction.

"Okay. But not the bitter tea. Please, Woo Jin."

"Hey, that was for your wounds," I snickered.

She let out a weak giggle before pushing herself up from the couch and held out her hand in my direction.

"What?" I asked, looking at her hand.

"What do you mean, what? Guide me to my room," she said and forcefully grabbed my hand to make it clutch her levitating hand.

"No," I pulled back my hand. "You can go there yourself."

She became silent for a small moment, then suddenly grabbed my hand and told me to walk her to her room again.

"You don’t want my feet to hit the stairs and get hurt, do you?"

When she said that, I had no choice but to do what she was asking me to do. And after doing that, I left her alone to take a shower and change clothes.

I also washed my face and changed my clothes in my room as fast as possible and went to the kitchen to make tea for myself and Viora.

While I was doing so, the relaxed expression on my face slowly faded away and shifted into a serious one.

While the tea is being made, I should use this time to check the loot.

’System,’ I called out. ’Evaluate the items.’
