Chapter 64: [Bonus 9] That Smile Could Never Mean Anything Good.

The class was as bustling as ever as I entered.

Ruan hadn’t arrived yet since there were still five minutes left before class and the entire classroom was already buzzing with noise.

Everyone’s gaze turned towards me barely for a second before they all looked away.

Many groups had already formed and naturally, Lily and I were the outcasts. Nobody even tried to speak to me except Aurelion who gave me a slight wave.

Though even he was buried beneath a long line of nobles practically begging him to talk to them before he could greet me properly.

I could see Seles sitting beside him with a cheerful expression while sneaking a glance or two my way, letting me know she was watching.

On Aurelion’s other side sat an extremely beautiful woman with white hair and golden eyes like orbs of the sun.

Naturally, how could I not recognise her?

She was my second wife, best friend of Seles and also the woman Aurelion, the golden boy, was practically head over heels for.

I didn’t give her another glance for now and simply walked towards the back of the class, where Lily was seated as usual. Her crimson eyes stared out the window while she rubbed her hands together despite the classroom already being warm.

Within seconds, I reached my seat from yesterday.

As I pulled the chair back to sit down, Lily turned towards me for barely a second and despite not having a single expression on her face, she looked quite intimidating at the moment.

I wasn’t sure if it was because she shared the same soul across the timelines or if I was simply imagining something that wasn’t there... but she somehow seemed angry.

I didn’t know what this whole calamity thing was or what she was destined to do with that fate, but... according to what [[Eye of Usurper]] had shown me that day, Lily possessed the same soul across every timeline.

I wasn’t sure how that worked, but... it opened up the possibility that someday in the future she might remember that past.

At this point, I was practically sure she would.

"Good morning, Lily."

I looked at her with a smile as soon as I settled into my seat. She glanced at me again and simply nodded but even that small nod was a step forward compared to yesterday.

"Just so you know, I was talking to Princess Seles about the misunderstanding we had. It wasn’t anything personal, you know."

I said it just in case.

"I don’t care."

"Yeah, yeah. I know." I simply waved her off with a smile and changed the subject. "By the way, have you chosen your electives yet, Lily?"

"Why do you keep talking to me even when nobody else does?" She finally asked, seemingly unable to hold her curiosity any longer.

Honestly, I didn’t know what to say, so I simply answered with the truth.

"I don’t know."

Every time I felt like I couldn’t survive even one more day, Lily was always there for me.

I never understood why she loved me that deeply but her love was the only thing that kept me alive back then and even if she had forgotten those days, I didn’t want her to suffer the same fate she had in my last life.

And I didn’t know how I was supposed to explain that to her, so in a way... it was the truth.

Lily stared at me blankly for a moment before turning back towards the window beside her.

That was all she whispered before falling silent once more.

Before I could say anything more, Ruan entered the classroom with a voice as loud as ever.

"Attention, classroom!"

Her voice echoed through the room despite her tiny body barely being visible.

"Now that you have successfully survived the first day, I won’t be holding back from today. You have to submit your electives, at least two and at most any number you can handle, by Monday but you can change them throughout next week to see which ones you like the best."

"But the mandatory classes won’t have any such flexibility since they will be the same for everyone. There will be four mandatory classes: Basic Mana Theory, Basic Awakened Guide, Practical Physical Fitness, and Basic Combat."

"You should have already received the schedule on your mana bracelet and naturally Physical Fitness would be the last class so you can focus better on other stuff."

A mischievous smile appeared on her face, enough to make me shiver as memories of my past life resurfaced. Still, I gritted my teeth and endured it.

Just how bad could mere physical training even be? I was sure I could breeze through it without much trouble this time around.

Ruan didn’t care about my internal conflict and began with attendance. Once that was done, she gave her usual little motivational speech about how much she hated weak, bratty kids before leaving.

Soon enough, after a brief break during which I tried talking to Lily only to receive minimal answers and a few questionable stares, the next lecture began as Maximus entered the classroom.

The moment he stepped inside, his gaze landed on me and a wide smile stretched across his face.

Seeing that smile, I already knew this bastard was definitely up to no good.
