Chapter 51: The ‘Peaceful’ First Day of Academy.

The rest of the day passed uneventfully.

By the time I returned to the dorm assigned to me, Liana had apparently been waiting for who knew how many days. The moment I stepped inside, she was already cleaning the apartment, despite it already being spotless.

The dorm was practically an apartment with five rooms.

The living room alone was as large as my bedroom back at the estate, while an equally spacious training room was attached to it along with a kitchen and two bedrooms. Apart from that, each student residence also had a smaller adjoining apartment reserved as the servant’s quarters.

The academy bastards were surprisingly clever.

They showered every noble with luxury for the first six months, only to snatch it all away after the reassignment examinations.

Asking Liana to prepare dinner, I headed straight for the bathroom. Competent as ever, she didn’t ask a single question about where I had disappeared to for the past month and simply bowed before beginning to prepare the meal.

As the cold water washed over my body, stinging the countless small injuries I had accumulated, my thoughts drifted back to everything that had happened the last few days.

But I knew, that was merely the beginning and the rest of the year would be far more chaotic. I didn’t mind the chaos itself, I simply didn’t want it ruining the peaceful life I intended to enjoy this time around.

Which meant, I had a lot to prepare and the first thing on that list was engraving the True Name of that particular bitch, the very bitch who would solve one of my biggest problems.

Thankfully, she would be in the same class as me.

I just hoped she wouldn’t prove to be as troublesome to deal with as she had been in my previous life.

Once I finished my shower, I dried myself and changed into my night clothes before stepping out of the bathroom.

Liana had already prepared dinner and was waiting patiently beside the dining table.

"Did you pass the entrance exam?"

I asked casually as I took my seat.

Before leaving for the academy, I had instructed her to apply for admission. The academy allowed every noble to bring a personal servant, so there was no real need for her to enroll as a student.

But I didn’t want that.

Liana possessed far more potential than she herself realized.

Although she wasn’t blessed with many Talents like many others, she had an exceptional aptitude for physical combat.

Unfortunately, in my previous life, she had never received any proper training but this time, I had no intention of letting that potential go to waste. Not to mention, it was the perfect opportunity to earn her genuine loyalty.

"Yes, Young Master."

She nodded, maintaining her usual composed expression, though the excitement she was trying so hard to suppress was still visible.

"I have been assigned to the Wolf Class."

"Great."

I nodded with a satisfied smile as she served me dinner.

Once I had finished eating, I dismissed her to get some rest before making my way to my own bedroom.

The mattress was in no way inferior to the one back at the estate as the moment my body sank into its soft embrace, every ounce of tension melted away and before I knew it, I had already fallen asleep.

Morning arrived soon enough, bringing with it the ever-rude rays of sunlight to drag me out of bed.

After going through my usual morning routine, I changed into the academy uniform. Looking at my reflection, I gave a satisfied nod.

The uniform consisted of a pitch-black suit and matching trousers paired with a crisp white shirt and a red tie. Pinned to my chest was a circular golden badge, signifying my status as a first-year student of the World Class.

The badges came in six colors.

White, black, red, green, purple, and gold.

Each color represented a different class, with white signifying the Crow Class and gold reserved for the World Class.

The badge’s shape represented the student’s year. A circle for first-years, a triangle for second-years and a pentagon for third-years.

It was quite a clever system, a constant reminder of everyone’s place in the hierarchy and an even greater incentive to climb higher by pulling those above you down.

Shaking the useless thoughts from my mind, I stepped out of my room and had the breakfast Liana had prepared beforehand.

Once I was finished, I left without another moment’s hesitation. I had already asked Liana to head over first since finding one’s classroom on the first day usually took quite a while.

Unlike most academies, there was no orientation ceremony or welcoming speech from the student representative. New students were simply expected to report directly to their assigned classrooms.

As I walked through the ever-bustling streets, I didn’t rush. Instead, I quietly enjoyed every step. After all, this peace wouldn’t last much longer and I was sure of it.

About half an hour after leaving the first-year dormitories, I finally arrived before an isolated building large enough to accommodate thousands of students.

It belonged exclusively to the World Class.

Taking a deep breath, I stepped inside and then into my classroom as a massive lecture hall greeted me, lined with hundreds of desks arranged in neat rows.

Countless noble students were already chatting across the classroom, with minor nobles crowding around the high nobles in hopes of socializing with them.

At the front stood a lone podium reserved for the instructor, it was still empty since there were five minutes left before the class officially began.

But before I could enjoy even a moment of peace, just as I had expected, an extremely annoying voice called out from the front.

"Zenith von Ruinbringer, so you have finally arrived. I have been looking forward to meeting you for a long time."

With a polite smile, I turned toward the source of the voice.

Walking toward me was a beautiful girl with deep orange hair and pale violet eyes.

Pride and childish arrogance were written plainly across her face and hidden beneath that carefully crafted façade was a girl far too intelligent, knowing how to fool everyone.

"It’s nice to meet you as well, Princess Seles."

She was Seles Divus Auremont...

Or, more accurately...

My first wife from my previous life.
