Chapter 403: Chapter 403: The Deal

Tanya Sinclair recognized these people at a glance as Tom’s subordinates.

Her heart tightened, and soon, she saw Tom’s figure emerge from the crowd.

Tom didn’t even glance at Felix Kendall, his smile insincere as he stared at Tanya Sinclair: "Ms. Sinclair, you’re so naughty. Took me quite some effort to find you."

Felix instinctively protected Tanya Sinclair, stepping back.

At this moment, the seemingly orderly villagers behind Tanya dropped their facades, looking nervously at their own homes.

Felix frowned slightly, instantly realizing something was wrong - during this visit to the village, he hadn’t seen the most noisy and active children!

The next moment, nearly every household had Tom’s men dragging their children out.

The children cried and wailed in fear, rushing towards their parents.

The village chief, who had dealt with Felix before, was now too ashamed to meet his gaze.

Felix’s sharp gaze pierced through Tom.

The reason this village could become a place for ceasefires on the island was because the women, children, and elders here were family to the various armed forces.

Tom daring to use children to threaten the villagers was akin to declaring war directly with the other forces on the island... If he wasn’t completely mad, then there was only one possibility - the consequences of not capturing Tanya Sinclair were more terrifying than being enemies with the entire island.

Felix’s eyes turned cold, and Declan Pierce’s face flashed in his mind.

What exactly is that man up to?

Felix was about to draw his gun when suddenly Tanya Sinclair discreetly pressed down on his arm.

"They have dozens of people, and there are ordinary villagers everywhere. Fighting is not a winning strategy..." Tanya surveyed the surroundings, searching for an escape route.

Tom saw through her intentions, sneering: "Ms. Sinclair, no need to search. There’s only one exit in the village, and if you don’t listen and try to escape... every ten minutes, I’ll kill a villager!"

"..." Tanya knew Tom would do what he said.

She had seen Tom throwing Cameron Wenworth and others into the sea like dumplings, just to stall the military.

Tanya looked around; this village was full of defenseless elderly and young women and children...

Felix glanced at Tanya holding his hand, his tense muscles relaxing slightly.

"If you take me out, they want to capture me." Tanya’s tone was calm, whispering.

Felix turned to look at her, emotions complex.

At this critical moment, she wasn’t afraid; instead, she was thinking of ways for him to escape... His eyes moved slightly, reminding her softly: "Tanya, think carefully. If you fall into their hands, you’ll suffer greatly."

"I’m a Chinese medicine practitioner, I’ve tasted the bitterest of medicines." She looked at Felix, squeezing out a relaxed smile at this crucial moment, "One of us has to go, or we’re at a severe disadvantage."

"..." Felix pursed his lips slightly, "Alright."

The next moment, he decisively drew his gun, pulling Tanya in front of him, the dark muzzle pressed against her forehead.

Tom, previously confident, turned pale at the sight.

"Stop!" Tom feigned calmness, analyzing, "Felix, I know you’re deliberately scaring me. You risked your life to save Ms. Sinclair, how could you..."

"Oh really?" Felix lazily interrupted him, "Why don’t you take a gamble?"

As he finished speaking, he unlocked the gun’s safety, making Tom’s face turn white with fear.

"No, no!"

He couldn’t afford to gamble; if Felix fired that shot, it wouldn’t be Tanya who died, but his entire family!

Tanya cooperatively displayed a frightened expression.

Felix coldly raised his voice: "Clear the way!"

Tom shouted, "Move, move aside!"

Felix held Tanya hostage, retreating all the way to the cave, and at the corner, Felix warned harshly: "Don’t come closer, stay where you are and count to fifty. Miss one, and I’ll put a hole in Tanya’s head!"

Tanya shouted: "Don’t come over, he really will shoot! Felix is notoriously ruthless!"

She heard a quiet laugh from Felix behind her.

His breath was hot against her ear, making a promise only they could hear.

"Don’t worry, I’ll come to get you out."

Felix took steps back, using the blind spot to leave Tanya exposed to Tom’s view.

Tom’s confidant couldn’t help suggesting: "Boss, when we finish counting, Felix will surely be gone! Why not go now..."

"Go to hell!" Tom glared at him, "I don’t care if Felix runs or not, what matters is Tanya!"

Tom obediently counted to fifty, then stepped forward, unsurprisingly finding Felix already vanished.

Tom signaled his men, and they immediately led a group to chase after Felix.

"Ms. Sinclair, this time I can’t be as polite as before."

Tanya was about to speak when Tom’s men suddenly covered her mouth and nose from behind, and she quickly lost consciousness.

Tom instructed: "Put her in the cage and take her back! Be careful! Don’t let her escape again!"

Tom’s henchman suggested viciously: "Boss, this woman loves to run. I think it’s better to break her legs..."

He hadn’t finished speaking when Tom slapped him hard.

"Get lost! If even a scratch happens to her, the lives of your entire family won’t be enough!"

The henchman took the slap silently, "Boss, who exactly is this woman? Why do you treat her like she’s sacred? For her sake, you’ve disregarded the ceasefire, breaking into the village to capture her. Now we’ve offended all three other forces on the island!"

"You know nothing. I’ve long wanted to leave this godforsaken island." Tom peers towards Rhovan, his intentions veiled, "Keep Tanya here for three days, just three days, and we’ll never have to hide on this broken island like rats again! We can have new identities and see the outside world openly!"

Except for Declan Pierce, no one else has the power to help them cleanly disappear!
