Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Something’s Wrong
On the other side, Leah Thorne walked into a traditional medicine shop.
She immediately saw Leo Sullivan busy at the medicine cabinet.
He was Vincent Hawthorne’s family doctor and was well acquainted with Tanya Sinclair.
After getting close to Vincent Hawthorne, Leah Thorne spent a lot of effort digging into the people around him.
This medicine shop was opened by Leo Sullivan’s grandfather, and he would occasionally come to help on weekends.
"Hello." Leah Thorne said, "I would like to get some medicine."
"Do you have a prescription from a doctor?" Leo Sullivan asked while continuing with his task. Once he finished, he looked up, and was momentarily stunned to see the young woman before him.
"Yes, I do." Leah Thorne handed over the prescription, noticing Leo Sullivan’s surprise, she feigned confusion and touched her face, "Doctor, what’s wrong? Is there something on my face?"
"No." Leo Sullivan apologized, "You just look a lot like someone I know. Sorry for my lack of composure."
She looked very much like Ms. Sinclair, although this young woman seemed to be in her early twenties.
Leo Sullivan thought to himself, she resembles Ms. Sinclair from when she first married Mr. Hawthorne.
He took the prescription Leah Thorne handed over and examined it carefully: "It’s a good prescription, perfect for calming the heart and mind."
"Yes. It’s for the sister of a benefactor. She encountered some unfortunate situations outside and got quite a scare."
Leo Sullivan nodded: "I see, you’re very considerate."
Leah Thorne smiled and asked, "Can you brew the medicine here? Do you mind preparing it for me? Just enough for a week will do."
"Certainly, you can come to pick it up tomorrow morning."
"Thank you, I appreciate it." Leah Thorne cheerfully scanned the code to pay and then turned to leave.
Leo Sullivan watched her back, adjusted his black-framed glasses, and couldn’t help but remark, "From the back, she looks even more like her, they’re practically identical... Well, luckily, this young woman isn’t Tanya Sinclair; she won’t suffer marrying Mr. Hawthorne."
After leaving the traditional medicine shop, Leah Thorne checked the local express delivery; it would arrive at the school in an hour.
If she hurried back, she could catch it at the door.
Leah Thorne hailed a taxi: "To Northwood University."
Watching the street scene outside the window, the corner of her mouth turned up slightly.
That Yvonne Hawthorne, she wasn’t a pleasant character, Leah had already investigated thoroughly.
During the years Tanya Sinclair was married into the Hawthorne family, Yvonne Hawthorne often bullied her, and several of those incidents even made entertainment news. Additionally, Yvonne herself, flaunting the image of a wealthy and beautiful socialite, frequently became the subject of public discussion.
Leah Thorne naturally wouldn’t curry favor with her; she didn’t entertain dreams of marrying Vincent Hawthorne.
She only needed Vincent’s support.
And that woman Yvonne, Leah knew from their first meeting that she would become an obstacle.
In that case, she had to strike first!
The Hawthorne Estate.
Yvonne Hawthorne was in her room drinking bird’s nest soup brought by a servant when she received a call from a friend she had been waiting for.
"Yvonne, the woman you wanted to investigate is named Leah Thorne. Though she got into Northwood University, she’s just an ordinary rural girl, a model student. Her family is dirt-poor. How did someone like that offend a distinguished lady like you?" The caller was curious.
Yvonne Hawthorne sneered: "These kinds of people may be poor, but there’s no lack of women with aspirations beyond their means! They fantasize that they’re some novel’s heroine, using feigned innocence and vulnerability to attract wealthy men, marrying into elite families in one leap! I’ll teach her a lesson!"
One Tanya Sinclair was already disgust enough, and now there’s Leah Thorne.
Ha, if she could handle Tanya Sinclair, what would stop her from dealing with this imitation!
Whenever she thought of Tanya Sinclair, Yvonne Hawthorne felt vexed.
"Enough, enough, I don’t want to talk about it!" She hung up the phone, threw the mobile aside, and started pacing anxiously around the room.
The only thing sure now is that Tanya Sinclair probably isn’t dead!
If she had been rescued, she would surely reveal that it was Yvonne herself who caused her to fall into the sea!
What to do?
Yvonne’s face paled slightly, she forced herself to calm down, and thought again, Tanya Sinclair didn’t have any evidence!
At the time, only the two of them were on the rescue ladder, and with the helicopter’s rotor noise being so loud, even the rescue personnel couldn’t tell what was happening, as long as she flat out denied it!
That’s right!
Anyway, Tanya Sinclair doesn’t have any evidence!
Thinking this seemed to ease Yvonne’s worry, she secretly hoped fate would leave Tanya Sinclair stranded on Pyralis forever!
Meanwhile, at Pyralis.
Tanya Sinclair followed Felix Kendall for several hours and finally arrived at the village.
The village entrance was quite hidden; one had to pass through a dark tunnel that even those who happened to walk by wouldn’t notice.
On the other side of the tunnel was another world.
A series of wooden houses were arranged with varying heights; villagers moved about, busy yet the atmosphere felt peaceful and vibrant.
Just as Tanya Sinclair was about to step forward, Felix Kendall suddenly held her back.
He looked around cautiously, sensing a subtle unease.
"What is it?" Tanya Sinclair asked, puzzled.
Felix Kendall frowned faintly: "Something doesn’t feel right."
His gaze roamed over the villagers, noticing differences from his last visit.
Suddenly, Felix’s expression changed, realizing what was happening. He grabbed Tanya Sinclair and prepared to leave, but a large group of people emerged from the tunnel entrance they had used...
