Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Playing a Sex Tape at the Wedding
The wedding had been postponed by an hour. It was about time now.
She could even faintly hear Caleb Blackwood anxiously looking for someone, and the person he was looking for was right behind her.
Ivy Sherwood said to the man behind her, "I’ll go out first. You can find your own way out."
Then Ivy Sherwood left, leaving Quentin Blackwood there alone.
Quentin Blackwood stared at the tightly shut door, a sinister glint flashing in his eyes.
He couldn’t forget the way he’d been driven out of Lustre, and he certainly couldn’t forget how his mother had died.
He was an illegitimate son, a pariah to everyone. The Blackwood Family assumed he was there to fight for the inheritance, so they couldn’t wait for him to die.
His mother had been forced by his so-called father when he was drunk; she was the most innocent one of all.
The Sherwood Family also had a hand in his departure from Lustre and his mother’s death. Therefore, he wouldn’t let anyone from the Sherwood or Blackwood families have an easy time.
’Since they both resist this marriage so much, they should be forced together all the more.’
...
Quentin Blackwood walked out, concealing the hatred in his eyes and resuming his cold, aloof aura.
Caleb Blackwood didn’t dare ask Quentin where he had been, and Quentin paid no mind to the polite and respectful words Caleb offered.
He walked to the main hall, where the engagement ceremony had already begun.
On stage, the future bride and groom looked as if they shared some great animosity. Silas Blackwood, in particular, wore a sour look on his face, as if someone owed him tens of millions.
Ivy Sherwood, on the other hand, kept her head down, seemingly waiting for something.
’Something’s off,’ Quentin thought. ’If Ivy Sherwood wants to marry Silas Blackwood so badly, is she really going to do nothing and just resign herself to this engagement?’
Although he had only known Ivy for a short time, he felt that this woman was by no means that simple.
’Her scheming started when she climbed into my bed last night, or perhaps even earlier.’
Quentin Blackwood’s eyes narrowed slightly. He toyed with the Buddha Beads on his wrist, his sharp gaze fixed on the woman on stage.
As if sensing his stare, Ivy Sherwood’s gaze met his from the stage, and the corners of her lips curved up slightly.
Just as the two sides were about to exchange their marriage certificates, the large screen behind them suddenly lit up.
"Silas... Silas, be gentle~"
A seductive voice cooed as a scene so steamy it could make one’s blood boil appeared on screen. The faces of Silas Blackwood and Anna Nash were clearly visible as they were doing things that couldn’t see the light of day.
In the video, the woman would glance toward the camera from time to time, either intentionally or not. The man, however, seemed unaware of the recording, instead intensifying his movements and spewing perverted, dirty talk.
The clips were short, but there were many of them, and they were all very clear.
The moment the video played, the guests erupted in shocked murmurs. "The Young Master Blackwood is already keeping a mistress on the side. How wronged Miss Sherwood will be if she marries him."
"Who’s that woman? She must know that Young Master Blackwood is about to get married, right?"
"Tsk, I don’t know if you all saw, but Young Master Blackwood’s... seems a little small."
For a moment, the hall was filled with buzzing gossip.
Silas Blackwood was even more shocked, and he roared in fury.
"Stop looking! Stop looking!"
"Who the hell played this!"
Caleb Blackwood was also stunned by the scene before him. He subconsciously glanced at the distinguished man beside him.
Quentin Blackwood just spat out a few cold words: "Isn’t this embarrassing enough?"
Caleb Blackwood shot to his feet. "Hurry up and turn off the video!"
The video was quickly shut off. At that moment, the faces of everyone from the Blackwood and Sherwood families were incredibly grim.
Ivy Sherwood, looking on the verge of tears, asked, "Silas, why would you do this to me?"
Silas Blackwood erupted. "Who the fuck would want to marry an ugly crybaby like you! The person I love is Anna Nash! You can’t even compare to a single one of her fingers."
"Since you don’t like me, why don’t we call off the engagement today, in front of everyone."
"Silence!" Caleb Blackwood strode onto the stage and slapped Silas directly across the face. "I don’t care who you like. Today’s engagement will proceed as planned."
"Dad!" Silas’s face was a mask of fury, and the scene descended into chaos.
Seeing Silas get hit, Anna Nash rushed forward. "Uncle, please don’t blame Silas. It’s my fault. I just love him too much."
Seeing Anna’s display, Caleb Blackwood grew even more furious and kicked her. "Get out!"
The kick sent Anna stumbling, and she fell to the ground and fainted.
Seeing this, Silas Blackwood forgot everything else and rushed over to Anna. "Anna! Anna!"
He scooped her up and headed for the exit. "Call an ambulance!"
With the groom gone, the chaotic engagement ceremony could not possibly continue.
Caleb Blackwood was busy dealing with the aftermath—apologizing to the guests and giving the Sherwood Family an explanation.
But for Ivy Sherwood, who was left on stage like a clown, there was not a single word of explanation.
Ivy Sherwood walked silently to the backstage area. Just as she had changed out of the heavy gown, she heard a chilling voice from behind her.
"You did that on purpose. You wanted to ruin Silas Blackwood."
Ivy turned around. "Uncle, what makes you say that?"
"You prepared that video, didn’t you."
"Of course not. Uncle, didn’t you see the angle it was filmed from? It was clearly an intimate video shot by one of the people in it."
The video had nothing to do with Ivy Sherwood; it was Anna Nash’s handiwork.
Anna wanted to marry into a wealthy family, so naturally, she couldn’t just stand by and watch Silas marry someone else, even if it meant destroying her own reputation.
Ivy had merely used other means to give Anna the idea, prompting her to release the video herself.
"And you think the engagement will be called off just like that?"
Ivy lowered her eyes. ’I thought it would be.’
’But it seems I’ve oversimplified things.’
A faint smile played on her lips as she lifted her head again. Her long eyelashes were like two little brushes, and her eyes were as bewitching as a little fox’s.
When she stared at you, it always made you overlook her otherwise plain face.
"Uncle, you saw it too. Your nephew doesn’t like me at all. Why don’t you help me out and get this engagement canceled?"
"What makes you think I’d help you?"
"Consider it a favor I owe you, Uncle. If you ever need my help in the future, I will absolutely not refuse."
Quentin Blackwood sneered. "What do you have that’s worthy of my interest? You should just focus on preparing to marry my nephew."
"I just want to call off the engagement. If you won’t help, Uncle, aren’t you afraid of what happened last night getting out?"
"Do you think anyone would believe you? With that face of yours, you think I’d be interested?"
Ivy Sherwood touched her own face. "It might be a bit ugly, but I don’t recall you having any complaints last night, Uncle."
"So last night really was your scheme!"
’This woman is so audacious. She didn’t just randomly grab a man to spend the night with—she targeted me from the very start.’
Ivy Sherwood didn’t deny it. "Does it matter? Can you honestly say you didn’t enjoy yourself last night, Uncle?"
Quentin Blackwood: "..."
