Chapter 3: Chapter 3: He’s the Paramour?
Ivy Sherwood could already see the foul look on Quentin Blackwood’s face. But he had come in on his own—it wasn’t as if she’d dragged him in. Who was there to blame but himself?
Knowing Quentin Blackwood didn’t want any trouble, Ivy Sherwood suggested, "Why don’t you hide?"
The moment Ivy Sherwood spoke, Quentin Blackwood’s face practically cracked. "You want me to hide back there?"
’What would that make me? The other man?’
’I’ve only exchanged a few words with Ivy Sherwood. Why should I have to hide?’
"Then go ahead and walk out in the open. It’s no loss for me. In fact, with your help, Uncle, I might even be able to get this wedding canceled."
"Ivy, who are you talking to?" The person outside was already starting to push the door open.
Though extremely reluctant, Quentin Blackwood still hid behind a nearby curtain.
Ivy Sherwood walked over and opened the door, but she had no intention of letting the person in.
The woman at the door was Anna Nash, Ivy Sherwood’s best friend of many years, and also Silas Blackwood’s current mistress.
Anna Nash was beautiful, with a delicate, fragile kind of beauty that made people want to protect her.
Her eyes were still red, and she had deliberately worn a thin-strapped camisole, making the marks Silas Blackwood had left on her body perfectly visible.
"Ivy, you look so beautiful today," Anna Nash said, looking enviously at the wedding dress Ivy Sherwood was wearing.
Ivy Sherwood looked at her sarcastically. "What do you want?"
"Ivy, you know my family is poor. My mother abandoned me when I was little, and my father’s a gambling addict. Silas is all I have. I’m begging you, don’t marry him. Please, give Silas back to me, won’t you? I really love him."
Ivy Sherwood looked at her coldly. "This is the first time I’ve ever seen a mistress be so shameless."
"Ivy Sherwood, you’ve had everything since you were a child, so of course you don’t know how I feel! Why must you push me like this? Why insist on snatching Silas away from me?"
Then, with a THUD, Anna Nash dropped directly to her knees in front of Ivy Sherwood.
"I’m begging you, I’m really, truly begging you..." As she spoke, Anna Nash began to kowtow to Ivy Sherwood repeatedly.
The next second, Anna Nash was pulled to her feet.
"Anna, what are you doing?!" Seeing Anna Nash’s state, Silas Blackwood’s heart ached for her.
"Ivy Sherwood, this is between you and me! Why are you dragging Anna into this? Her health is poor, and you’re still pressuring her like this! You actually made her kneel to you? How can you be such a vicious person!"
Without bothering to get the story straight, Silas Blackwood immediately unleashed a tirade on Ivy Sherwood.
"Silas Blackwood, get your facts straight! Anna Nash came to me on her own and knelt on her own. I barely said a word to her from start to finish!"
Seeing this, Anna Nash quickly grabbed Silas Blackwood. "Silas, don’t blame Ivy. It’s my fault. I just love you too much. I can’t just stand by and watch you marry someone else."
Ivy Sherwood was thoroughly disgusted by this manipulative act. Before she could even close the door, she heard Silas Blackwood say,
"Ivy Sherwood, even if I marry you, I will never like you! And there’s no way I’d ever sleep with an ugly monster like you, so give up any hope you have!"
The very sight of Ivy Sherwood’s face was enough to make him want to throw up his meal!
Ivy Sherwood almost laughed. "It’s a real shame the two of you don’t do comedy routines, you play off each other so well. And get this straight—the ones stopping you from being together is the Blackwood Family, not me."
"So disgusting!" With those two words, Ivy Sherwood slammed the dressing room door shut.
Then, Quentin Blackwood came out of hiding.
He had heard the entire conversation between the three of them.
Ivy Sherwood didn’t seem too affected. "See that? With a nephew like yours, I could sleep with a hundred other men and not feel a shred of guilt."
Quentin Blackwood: "..."
