Chapter 5: Chapter 5: I Wasn’t Born to Seduce Men
Anyone who schemed against him would meet a miserable end.
Quentin Blackwood made no effort to hide his fury. His powerful aura was overwhelming; anyone else would have been so terrified their knees would have buckled.
But Ivy Sherwood showed not a hint of fear, her defiant gaze meeting Quentin Blackwood’s squarely.
Just then, Timothy Sherwood’s voice rang out from the doorway.
"Ivy Sherwood, where the hell have you been? Get out here now!"
Hearing the voice, Quentin Blackwood sneered, "You’d better get ready for your next engagement banquet, niece-in-law!"
Quentin Blackwood had no desire to get entangled with such a manipulative woman. He left directly through a side door.
Ivy Sherwood bit her lip. ’Looks like Quentin Blackwood isn’t going to help me,’ she thought. ’I’ll have to find another way.’
Soon, Timothy Sherwood found his way backstage and saw Ivy Sherwood.
The engagement had failed, and on top of that, it had turned into such a joke. Timothy Sherwood was livid.
"You can’t even hold on to a man. What good are you!"
Ivy Sherwood’s expression was impassive. "My life has its own worth, and it’s not to seduce men!"
"What worth? You’re worthless! Get to the hospital right now and sweet-talk Silas Blackwood into coming back. If Silas doesn’t come back, don’t you bother coming home either!"
"You saw the video today. It’s definitive proof that Silas Blackwood is cheating. And you still want me to marry him?"
Timothy Sherwood didn’t think it was a big deal. "What man doesn’t cheat? As long as you’re Mrs. Blackwood, it doesn’t matter what he does on the side!"
"Silas is the Blackwood family heir. Sooner or later, everything the family owns will be in his hands. You’ll have more wealth and glory than you could ever imagine. That’s a blessing countless people can only dream of! If you weren’t lucky enough to be engaged to Silas since you were children, an opportunity like this would have never come your way!"
’How did I end up with such an unappreciative daughter!’
"Heh..." A smirk touched Ivy Sherwood’s lips, her lowered gaze concealing the derision in her eyes.
’There isn’t a single decent man in this world,’ she thought. ’Timothy Sherwood is one of them, and so is Silas Blackwood!’
...
At the hospital, Silas Blackwood had specially arranged a VIP room for Anna Nash.
When Anna Nash woke up and saw Silas Blackwood, she immediately threw herself into his arms, curling up against his chest.
"Silas, Silas..."
Silas Blackwood held her tightly. "It’s alright. I’m here."
"I’m so scared, Silas. How did our pictures get leaked? Is everyone cursing me out? Are they going to cyberbully me?"
"They won’t, Anna. I’m here to protect you."
"Silas, you’re so wonderful. But I ruined your engagement... Why don’t I go confess? I’ll say I’m the one who seduced you. That way, they won’t blame you."
Seeing how thoughtful and understanding Anna was, Silas’s heart completely melted.
"Silly girl, you’re too kind. Don’t you worry about any of this. Just focus on resting and getting better."
"Silas, you’re so good to me. I love you so much." As she spoke, Anna wrapped her arms around Silas’s neck and offered herself up to him.
Anna knew how to please Silas, and he was soon aroused. It was a private room; no one would disturb them.
The two figures tangled together. From the doorway, Ivy Sherwood watched the scene unfold with cold eyes.
’I can’t believe they have so little self-control,’ she thought. ’To do something like this in a hospital...’
Of course, Ivy wasn’t about to charge in herself. She simply took out her phone, recorded a short video, and sent it to Caleb Blackwood.
"Uncle Blackwood, I came to the hospital to see Silas, but he has wronged me terribly."
’I will find a way to break off this engagement,’ she resolved, ’and leave the Sherwood family.’
’But Timothy Sherwood still has my mother’s belongings. I can’t leave until I get them back!’
Soon, Caleb Blackwood arrived at the hospital with his men. Inside the room, Silas wasn’t finished yet when Caleb Blackwood kicked the door open, rudely interrupting them.
"Dad..." Silas scrambled to pull up his pants. "Couldn’t you at least have knocked?!"
"You bastard! You and this homewrecker have brought shame upon the Blackwood name! How could you face Ivy after this? I’ll beat you to death, you unfilial whelp!"
Silas’s howls echoed from within the room. Moments later, Caleb Blackwood dragged him out and threw him in front of Ivy.
He immediately slapped Silas twice across the face. Silas didn’t dare to retaliate against his father, so he could only grit his teeth and endure it.
Silas glared venomously at Ivy. ’She must have been the one to snitch to my father!’
But Ivy acted as if she didn’t see the hatred in Silas’s eyes, turning her gaze to Caleb Blackwood instead.
"Uncle Blackwood, about my marriage to Silas..."
’Can it be called off now?’
Caleb Blackwood’s expression was kind, but his presence was intensely pressuring. "Ivy, my dear, I’ll teach this brat a good lesson. Don’t you worry. I will personally pick a new, auspicious date for your wedding."
"Join us for dinner tonight. I’ll make Silas apologize to you properly."
Caleb Blackwood wasn’t asking; it was a command. Ivy had no room to refuse, so she could only nod.
Her heart felt as heavy as a stone. This marriage was a prison, and no matter how she struggled, it seemed she could never escape.
It was true they’d had an arranged marriage since childhood. But with the Blackwood family’s status in Lustre, they could have any woman they wanted. ’So why does it have to be me?’
With her eyes downcast, Ivy missed the deeper meaning hidden behind Caleb Blackwood’s kind expression.
After Ivy left the hospital, the smile vanished from Caleb Blackwood’s face.
Silas had indeed taken a couple of hits. "Dad, I have to get married anyway, so why can’t I marry someone else? Ivy Sherwood is so ugly!"
Caleb Blackwood warned him, "I don’t care what you do on the side. You *will* marry Ivy Sherwood."
"And another thing—you will apologize properly to Ivy tonight. Otherwise, I’ll cut off all your credit cards!"
Silas just couldn’t understand it. What was so special about Ivy Sherwood? Why did it have to be her?
’And I’m supposed to apologize to Ivy Sherwood? In her dreams.’
