Chapter 241: Chapter 241: Discovering Ivy Sherwood’s Real Identity
"Quentin Blackwood! You’re threatening me? You think I’m scared of you?" Silas Blackwood’s voice grew louder.
’He was no worse than Quentin Blackwood,’ he thought. ’Why should Quentin get to wrong him and then turn around and threaten him?’
Although they were in a corner, Silas Blackwood’s voice still attracted quite a few stares.
Over on the other side, Caleb Blackwood was shamelessly networking. This invitation was hard to come by; he had pulled strings and paid a hefty price for it. Even though the injuries on his face hadn’t fully healed, with his eye socket still bruised and purple, he had to come.
This was a golden opportunity. While the Blackwood Group and the Blackwood Family were formidable in Lustre, they had never managed to make a name for themselves outside the city. He was hoping to expand into Aethelgard and The Obsidian City, and this was undoubtedly a perfect chance to build connections.
Caleb Blackwood wouldn’t let this opportunity slip by. Then, he heard whispers, "Is someone arguing over there?"
"Looks like someone’s starting trouble. It seems they’re targeting Quentin Blackwood."
"Who could be so clueless? We can’t even get a chance to meet Quentin Blackwood."
"I don’t know. Security is already heading over. I heard it’s some guy named Silas Blackwood, drunk and causing a scene."
When Caleb Blackwood heard Silas Blackwood’s name, his expression changed drastically. He excused himself from the person he was talking to and rushed over.
However, the cruise ship’s security personnel had already arrived and grabbed Silas Blackwood. He was still shouting and struggling. "Get your facts straight! He’s the one who was going to hit me! I’m not the one making a scene!"
Jason Summers rushed over as well. He waved his hand and ordered the security guards, "Throw him off."
It was his fiftieth birthday, and someone actually dared to cause trouble here.
"Is this how you treat your guests? Why are you throwing me off? I already told you he started it!" Silas Blackwood was indignant.
’He’s Young Master Blackwood, and now President Blackwood!’ he fumed internally. ’Don’t they know that his Blackwood Family is the most powerful family in Lustre? What does the Summers Family even count for? How dare they touch him?’
"Mr. Summers." Caleb Blackwood hurried over, almost having a heart attack from sheer anger.
"My apologies, Mr. Summers. My son is ignorant and has caused you trouble. I apologize to you on his behalf." Caleb Blackwood’s tone was incredibly deferential.
"Dad, it’s not my fault at all! It’s Quentin Blackwood! He and Ivy Sherwood have been together for a long time. They’re ganging up on me! Ivy is even his date today!"
"Shut up!" Caleb Blackwood scolded. "Hurry up and apologize to Mr. Summers."
"Why should I apologize?" Silas Blackwood still didn’t see what he had done wrong. "I didn’t do anything wrong! They’re the ones who’ve gone too far! Quentin Blackwood is trying to destroy me! That adulterous—"
SLAP! Caleb Blackwood’s palm swung fiercely across Silas Blackwood’s face, knocking his head to the side.
"You bastard! This is no place for you to speak! Third Brother, Mr. Summers, my son is just drunk and spouting nonsense. He’s just a junior who doesn’t know any better. Please don’t take it to heart."
Caleb Blackwood’s gaze swept over Ivy Sherwood, lingering on her for an extra second. He hadn’t expected this woman to be here either.
And as Quentin Blackwood’s date, no less.
But right now, no matter how furious he was, he could only swallow his anger. The Summers Family was not to be offended.
"Silas Blackwood, apologize!" Caleb Blackwood commanded.
"Dad!" Silas Blackwood’s face was pale. Seeing how furious Caleb Blackwood was, he finally realized that he might have indeed made a huge mistake.
Jason Summers said, "There’s no need for apologies, Mr. Blackwood. I know Lustre is your territory, but my place is small. I’m afraid it can’t accommodate a great buddha like the Blackwood Family. Your son could certainly use a good lesson. If you would, please."
Jason Summers pointed outside, indicating that Caleb Blackwood should also leave.
To save Caleb Blackwood some face, he wouldn’t have security escort them out. Caleb and Silas Blackwood could just leave on their own.
"Mr. Summers, Mr. Summers, this is all our fault. It’s all because my rebellious son is so ignorant. He’s disturbed your birthday banquet. Today is your joyous day, please don’t be angry. I guarantee this defiant son of mine won’t cause any more trouble. I’ll teach him a good lesson, and I’ll come to apologize to you in person later. What do you think, Mr. Summers?"
Caleb Blackwood was bowing, looking just like a fawning pug trying to please its master.
Jason Summers glanced at Quentin Blackwood, whose expression remained unchanged. Jason Summers understood Quentin’s meaning.
He had to give Quentin Blackwood some face. Compared to Quentin, these people were nothing.
Jason Summers’s gaze swept to the cruise ship’s exit. "See the guests out!"
And just like that, Caleb Blackwood and Silas Blackwood were thrown off the cruise ship. Cheryl Yates, who had attended as Silas’s date, was also kicked out with them.
It was one thing for Silas Blackwood to be humiliated, but Cheryl Yates never thought she would be dragged down with him. She had never been so embarrassed in her life. To be dressed so beautifully only to be kicked out... How could she face her father? And everyone here was high society. Cheryl Yates didn’t even dare to imagine what they would say about her.
She shot Silas Blackwood a harsh glare. "Silas Blackwood, don’t ever involve me in this kind of humiliating mess again!"
With that, Cheryl Yates walked away.
If the other socialites in her circle found out, there was no telling how they would laugh at her.
Thrown off the cruise ship, Silas Blackwood’s expression was grim.
He looked at Caleb Blackwood. "Dad..."
Before he could say anything, another of Caleb Blackwood’s slaps landed, striking him hard across the face.
"You’re more of a hindrance than a help! Get lost! The Blackwood Family has no place for someone like you!"
"Dad, I wasn’t wrong! Didn’t you see? Quentin Blackwood came with Ivy Sherwood! The two of them have been hooking up behind my back for ages! I’m the one who was cuckolded! Was I wrong to curse them out?"
"You dare talk back!" Another heavy slap landed on Silas Blackwood’s face.
"Kneel!" Caleb Blackwood was practically delirious with rage.
He had worked so hard to get this opportunity, and he had brought Silas Blackwood along, but they hadn’t even managed to settle any business.
And if word got out that they had offended Mr. Summers, other people would be even more afraid to cooperate with their branch of the Blackwood Family.
The Blackwood Family was already in a difficult position. And now, look what happened. Silas Blackwood had gone and offended everyone.
Compared to the importance of tonight’s banquet, the matter of Quentin Blackwood and Ivy Sherwood was utterly insignificant!
"I won’t kneel! Why should I? Ivy Sherwood is my woman! What’s this about her being with Quentin Blackwood now? I can’t swallow this insult!" Silas Blackwood cursed.
"It’s Quentin Blackwood who’s shameless, trying to steal his own nephew’s woman!"
"Shut your mouth! How did I end up with a son like you!"
Seeing Silas Blackwood’s unrepentant attitude, Caleb despaired. Whether it was at the company or here and now, Silas had made a complete mess of things.
He was the one who didn’t cherish his engagement to Ivy Sherwood, the one who looked down on her. Only now was he feeling regret!
The fact that Ivy Sherwood could end up with Quentin Blackwood was a testament to her own ability. Only a useless person would throw a shameless, screaming tantrum in public.
This time, their branch of the Blackwood Family had utterly lost face in high society!
...
On the cruise ship, it was about time, and the vessel began to set sail. It would navigate the sea tonight, only returning at midnight.
Jason Summers exchanged a few words with Quentin Blackwood, his peripheral vision fixed on Ivy Sherwood.
Just then, the subordinate he had sent to investigate Ivy Sherwood’s identity returned and whispered in Jason Summers’s ear, "Mr. Summers, we’ve found it."
Jason Summers said to Quentin Blackwood, "I have something to attend to. I’ll be back."
He then stepped aside. The subordinate was holding a tablet, on which was a detailed file on Ivy Sherwood.
As Jason Summers read the text on the screen, his pupils contracted sharply.
Ivy Sherwood’s true identity was actually...
