Chapter 240: Chapter 240: Silas Blackwood Goes Crazy
How could it be Ivy Sherwood?
Silas Blackwood almost didn’t recognize her. Just from her back, he thought she was the beautiful woman he couldn’t get out of his mind.
’A figure like that... It’s a world away from Ivy’s, isn’t it?’
As Silas Blackwood thought back, he realized Ivy usually wore loose-fitting clothes. She almost never wore anything this tight, so he had no idea her figure was so amazing.
And Ivy’s silhouette from behind... it looked so much like *hers*.
If he hadn’t seen her face, Silas Blackwood truly would have mistaken her for someone else.
Silas Blackwood stared at Ivy’s face. It was clearly the same one, yet for some reason, he found the Ivy before him stunningly beautiful. And those eyes...
’Wait... It’s like something is overlapping. How can Ivy’s eyes be so similar to that beautiful model’s?’
The last time he’d confronted Quentin Blackwood at the hotel entrance, that woman had also been wearing high heels. He’d thought she was taller than Ivy because Quentin was already quite tall, and the height difference between them looked perfect.
But looking at Ivy now, he felt her height was about the same as that woman’s.
A wild thought struck Silas Blackwood. ’Could Ivy and that woman be the same person?’
Silas Blackwood was startled by his own idea. ’No, that’s absolutely impossible.’
’They have completely different faces. How could they possibly be the same person?’
And yet, Anna Nash had clearly said someone saw Ivy go inside and never come out. So how did Quentin Blackwood end up leaving with another woman?
’Was this all a scheme by Ivy and Quentin? They even stole all my Blackwood Group shares!’
’Has Ivy been secretly disguising her appearance this whole time?’
’Is that why I turned Lustre upside down and still couldn’t find her?’
Silas Blackwood gripped his wine glass so tightly that a crack spiderwebbed across the surface from the pressure.
’I have to find out if Ivy and that woman are the same person.’
’If she is... that damn Ivy played me for a fool. I will not let her get away with this!’
Cheryl Yates also saw the woman’s profile. She’d just heard that Quentin Blackwood had brought a date, but she never imagined it would be Ivy Sherwood.
’How on earth did Ivy manage to latch onto Quentin Blackwood? And what does this make Quentin? Stealing his own nephew’s woman? Getting together with his nephew’s fiancée?’
’If those two are really together, wouldn’t that make Ivy... Silas’s aunt instead of his fiancée?’
She subconsciously glanced over at Silas Blackwood, only to see him already striding forward.
Her gaze toward Ivy was filled with hatred. Ivy had taken photos of her before, which had nearly driven her to a breakdown.
’Before, she refused to help me. It turns out she had ulterior motives all along—she had her sights set on Quentin!’
’And Ivy is so plain! I’m Lustre’s number one socialite and its greatest beauty. How could I possibly lose to her?’
"Uncle!" Silas Blackwood strode over, his expression dark and menacing.
Seeing Silas Blackwood approach so aggressively, clearly looking for trouble, the other guests murmured, "And who is this?"
Quentin Blackwood’s eyes narrowed. He paid Silas no mind. "My nephew."
"Uncle, aren’t you going to explain this to me?" Silas couldn’t bother with pleasantries, his gaze fixed on Ivy as he demanded an answer.
"If you’re drunk, go rest. Don’t make a fool of yourself in public," Quentin said, his powerful aura radiating a clear warning.
"I’m not drunk! Why are the two of you here together?" Silas couldn’t care less about the propriety of the situation.
’What is this, Ivy and Quentin appearing together so brazenly? Are they announcing it to the world? Are they trying to humiliate me?’
’Ivy sure is something else. Just how good is she in bed to convince Quentin to bring her to an event like this!’
Quentin’s eyes turned icy. "My apologies, everyone. I need to handle a family matter. Please excuse us for a moment."
With that, Quentin led Ivy to a more private area.
Silas quickly followed them. "Quentin, what’s wrong, got a guilty conscience? You two are a pair of shameless bastards! No wonder you broke off my engagement. So this is it, you hooked up with someone better, huh, Ivy? You tramp... ARGH!"
Before Silas could finish, a glass of wine splashed across his face.
Quentin’s wine glass was now empty, and Silas’s face and clothes were drenched in red wine, a pathetic sight.
"Silas Blackwood, it seems the Blackwood Family failed to teach you any manners. Let this wine wash out that filthy mouth of yours. If you spout any more nonsense, I’ll have your tongue torn out. Then you can spend the rest of your life in silence."
Quentin’s voice was so bone-chillingly cold it sent a shiver down Silas’s spine.
Quentin’s gaze was terrifying. His sharp eyes told Silas he wasn’t joking.
"Uncle, we’re family! And you’re siding with an outsider like Ivy to lecture me?"
"You and I have never been family," Quentin said, his words utterly devoid of warmth.
One cannot choose the family they’re born into. He couldn’t choose to be born with a name other than Blackwood, but he could choose who he considered family now.
"So, you two are serious? You’ve been together behind my back all this time?"
Quentin’s eyes darkened, resembling the surface of a midnight sea in the dead of winter. Beneath the profound calm, a furious storm was brewing.
And now, that storm was beginning to surface. Displeasure was written plainly on Quentin’s face. "I advise you to think carefully before you speak again."
His earlier threat was not an empty one.
He really would make it so that Silas could never speak again.
Silas knew it, too. The vile, vicious words that had been on the tip of his tongue were now stuck in his throat, and he didn’t dare utter them.
Silas turned to Ivy, his eyes bloodshot and his expression agitated. He reached out to touch her face, heedless of how pathetic he looked with red wine dripping down his own.
"Is this face even real? Do you have another one!" he demanded, his features twisting in a snarl.
He tried to wipe the makeup from Ivy’s face, but before he could touch her, a powerful hand seized his wrist.
Quentin’s hand clamped down on Silas’s wrist. The diamond-studded watch on his own wrist flashed with a cold light.
Silas tried to break free but found Quentin’s strength to be astonishingly immense.
He used all his might, yet it seemed as if Quentin wasn’t even trying. A sharp pain shot through his wrist, and he felt as if Quentin was about to shatter the bone.
The man looked down on him, his cold, gloomy eyes narrowed. His expression was as placid as ever, a stark contrast to Silas’s frantic state.
The chasm between him and Silas was instantly apparent.
The man had lost his patience. His voice, like ripples spreading through the deep sea, was a shard of ice stabbing into one’s heart.
"Silas Blackwood, if you want to throw a fit, find another place to do it. Did Caleb Blackwood not tell you how important this banquet is? Don’t say I didn’t warn you. The Summers Family is not a group you can afford to offend."
