Chapter 242: Chapter 242: Are You Jealous?

Ivy Sherwood and Quentin Blackwood stood together.

"Will Silas’s little stunt cause any problems for you?" Ivy asked worriedly.

She didn’t mind what happened to her, but she didn’t want it to affect Quentin.

Quentin was completely dismissive of Silas. "Someone like him can’t stir up any real trouble."

Silas was a fool who had been dealt a winning hand and played it terribly. Despite his privileged birth and prestigious family—a starting line higher than most people’s finish lines—Silas didn’t know how to work hard or leverage his advantages. His future looked bleak.

"What if Joy Sheridan finds out?" Ivy asked, tilting her head to look at him.

At the mention of her name, Quentin frowned. "Are you worried about Joy herself, or are you just afraid she’ll come after you?"

"Is there a difference?" Ivy asked.

She wasn’t particularly worried about Joy coming after her. In her mind, even if Joy used her power to pressure people, she could probably handle it. Besides Iris, she had nothing to lose.

"If you’re worried about her as a person... why? Are you jealous?"

"Of course not!"

’How could I possibly be jealous? What is there to be jealous of?’

But even as she denied it, the tips of her ears quietly turned red.

"If that’s the case, then you have no reason to worry about her. I’ve told you, there’s nothing between Joy and me."

"But she’s the jealous type, and I admit I haven’t handled the situation well. Be careful." Quentin planned to arrange protection for Ivy, but he worried there might be an opening he’d overlooked.

Quentin hadn’t even realized it himself, but at some point, he had started to see Ivy as his to protect.

Ivy nodded, but she was still worried. The Blackwood Family wouldn’t just do nothing. Adding Joy Sheridan to the equation would certainly be a headache.

Ivy had the unsettling feeling that someone was watching her, but when she glanced around, she saw no one.

Not far away, Jason Summers’s gaze was fixed on Ivy. He was holding a tablet, and on the screen was Ivy’s profile.

Ivy’s background was surprisingly ordinary. He wasn’t sure if he should be disappointed or if it was to be expected.

Ivy’s mother was Yvonne Summers, a woman from the countryside with rather plain looks. Her parents didn’t seem to like her, and they hadn’t been in contact for years, as if they had completely severed ties.

Her father, Timothy Sherwood, was also an incompetent man who had made a complete mess of his company and his family.

’Based on this, there’s no way this Ivy Sherwood could have any connection to Winter Mercer.’

’I must have been overthinking it. They just have similar eyes, that’s all. It doesn’t mean anything. What was I even hoping for?’

Besides, the person he knew from the past didn’t have the surname Summers.

Just then, a voice came from behind him. "Uncle Summers."

Jason Summers turned to see two young men in suits. He instantly wiped the expression from his face, greeting them with a warm smile.

"Xavier, Miles! I’m so glad you could make it." Jason even pulled them both into a hug.

"Uncle Summers, I’m surprised you’re holding your birthday party in Lustre. I thought for sure it would be abroad," Miles said.

They were clearly very close; the Summers and Mercer families went way back and had an exceptionally good relationship.

Decades ago, the two families had lived near each other, and their aunt and Jason had been very close—childhood sweethearts, one might say.

"Well, I’ve been abroad for too long and was starting to miss home. I just bought a yacht, and since Aethelgard has no ocean, Lustre seemed like the best fit," Jason said with a smile. "I’m surprised to see you two are back, though. When did you get home?"

"We’ve been back for..." Miles began, but Xavier nudged him. Miles quickly changed his tune. "We just got back. As soon as we heard your birthday was here, Uncle Summers, my brother and I made a special trip to be here."

Xavier spoke up then. "Happy birthday, Uncle Summers. Grandfather knew we were coming and asked me to pass on his well wishes."

Jason chuckled. "No need for such formalities between our families. It’s my fault, really. I haven’t been to visit the old patriarch in ages. How has his health been lately?"

"Quite well," Xavier said.

The two of them chatted with Jason for a few more moments, but as the man of the hour, he was busy and quickly moved on to other things.

Miles sighed. "He’s so devoted. He never married, all for our aunt’s sake."

’It’s just a shame about our aunt...’

Something flickered in Xavier’s eyes. He lifted his gaze forward and saw her.

Over there, Ivy and Quentin stood together, looking like a perfect match.

Those eyes...

Those same eyes!

He’d seen that face before, outside a restaurant. Those same eyes. He had looked into her: the woman’s surname was Sherwood, and her mother’s was Summers. It wasn’t their aunt.

Then, at a fashion show, they saw a woman on the runway wearing a veil, with only her eyes visible. Those eyes looked so much like their aunt’s.

Xavier had immediately contacted the organizers to look into the model, but it turned out to be someone else.

But something about that model’s face and eyes felt different from what they had seen on the runway.

But digging any deeper led nowhere. Everyone they found was completely unrelated to their aunt.

To this day, they still had no idea where their aunt was.

Xavier started walking toward Ivy.

"Hey! Bro! Where are you going?" Miles quickly followed him.

Quentin was introducing people to Ivy. "Over there is Mr. Carter, the head of AT Corporation. He’s a decent guy. Their line of business isn’t related to yours, but they frequently need high-end custom designs for client gifts. If you can get in touch with him, it could lead to a huge amount of sales."

"That’s Mr. Farmer. He’s difficult to deal with, but his wife is much more reasonable. If you want to work with him, you should start with her."

Ivy mentally filed each name away, planning to get in touch with them later.

These were all titans of industry, people Ivy would normally never have access to.

"President Blackwood."

A voice sounded from behind, and both Quentin and Ivy turned around.

"President Mercer. Didn’t expect to see you here." Quentin nodded in acknowledgment.

"The Mercers and the Summers are family friends, so we came to offer our congratulations," Xavier said, his gaze falling on Ivy.

’Every time he saw her, he was astonished. She really looked so much like his aunt.’

"Is that so? Then I’m sure you’re very busy, President Mercer. We won’t disturb you." Quentin’s expression was detached as he prepared to lead Ivy away.

"Aren’t you going to introduce the person with you, President Blackwood?"

Quentin’s eyes darkened. ’I know Xavier Mercer,’ he thought. ’He’s a man of few words who rarely speaks to anyone first. He isn’t the gossipy type. But now, he actually wants to meet Ivy?’

Quentin remembered that the two brothers had also gone backstage at the fashion show, wanting to see Ivy.

Quentin didn’t know what Xavier was planning, but he pulled Ivy closer to his side—a clear gesture of staking his claim.

"This is my companion, Ivy Sherwood."

"Hello. I’m Xavier Mercer, and this is my younger brother, Miles." Xavier introduced himself directly, not waiting for Quentin.
