Chapter 222: Chapter 222: Uncle, Ivy Sherwood Was Willing to Die to Save Me

"And don’t think you can pull the elder card on me. Sorry, but I have no morals. I can’t be guilt-tripped."

Mrs. Blackwood clutched her heart, her eyes glaring daggers at Ivy Sherwood. ’This Ivy Sherwood,’ she thought, ’she really deserves to die.’

After all, she used to be so obedient, and now she was like a completely different person.

"Ivy Sherwood! A woman like you will never get married!"

A cold smile touched Ivy’s lips. "That’s not something you need to worry about."

Just then, a voice came from outside. "Mom, what are you doing here?"

"Silas! Silas, you’re awake! Oh, my poor son. What have you been through? Does it hurt? How’s your leg?"

"What did the doctor say? Son, how are you feeling now? It must have been this Ivy Sherwood. That jinx! Why wasn’t she the one who got hit? Making my son suffer like this. Ivy Sherwood, will you only be satisfied when the Blackwood Family is utterly destroyed?"

"Didn’t you want to call off the engagement? We already did, so what more do you want? Are you still not going to leave our Silas alone?"

Mrs. Blackwood blamed Ivy for everything. She looked at Ivy as if she wanted to wring the woman’s neck.

’It would have been better if Ivy had died in the car crash,’ she thought. ’Then none of this would have happened.’

"Mom! Say a little less!" Silas Blackwood cut in, trying to stop Mrs. Blackwood.

"Why should I? Isn’t this just what she’s like? Back then, your family was the one begging the Blackwood Family for this marriage. Otherwise, a person like you, Ivy Sherwood—how could you ever have been engaged to our Silas?"

"Our Silas is handsome and capable. And look at you. You’re not even fit to touch his finger. You couldn’t even dream of getting through the Blackwood family’s door. You’re a jinx! You’re probably the one who caused your own mother’s death!"

"Mrs. Blackwood!" Ivy’s face was as cold as ice, her eyes sharp and piercing.

"I show you respect because you’re my elder, but a person like you doesn’t deserve any respect at all. I don’t think I’m the one who’s not good enough for Silas Blackwood. In my eyes, he’s nothing. Also, how my mother died is not for you to comment on. You’d be better off going to a temple to pray that your son doesn’t end up causing his own mother’s death."

"You... you... Silas, did you hear that? Did you hear what this woman just said?" Mrs. Blackwood felt like she was about to die from sheer rage.

"Mom! Ivy saved me in the accident. If it weren’t for her, I might have really been killed."

"What? She saved you?" Mrs. Blackwood was stunned. ’Silas must be lying, right?’

"Both of you, quiet down and go outside for a bit. I want to talk to Ivy alone," Silas said, his gaze fixed on Ivy.

He clearly remembered her pulling him just as the car was about to hit.

If not for that, he might really be gone.

Even if he hadn’t died, he’d probably be half-dead.

"I have nothing to talk to you about. I think we’ve already said everything that needs to be said," Ivy replied, not seeing any reason to speak with Silas.

"Mom, you two go out first." Silas felt there were some things he absolutely had to say to Ivy.

In the moment Ivy pulled him, when they tumbled to the ground together, he suddenly realized something. He might be starting to like her.

Mrs. Blackwood and Sylvia Blackwood left first. The other people in the hospital room, intimidated by the scene, also cleared out.

Soon, only Silas and Ivy were left in the room.

"What do you want to say?"

"Ivy, I... Thank you," Silas said, his eyes on her.

"Don’t mention it. I wasn’t trying to save you anyway." She didn’t even remember saving him.

"Ivy, when the accident happened, you still pulled me out of the way. Doesn’t that prove that you have feelings for me? That subconsciously, you still want to protect me?" Silas’s tone was urgent, as if he needed to confirm he held a place in her heart.

"You’re overthinking it. I’d do the same if I saw a dog about to be hit by a car. Besides, I honestly didn’t save you, so stop letting your imagination run wild."

"I don’t believe you. Ivy, is it really that hard to admit you like me?"

Ivy was speechless.

’Did Silas hit his head? He seems seriously unwell.’

"I know I was wrong before. Ivy, I think I’m starting to like you," Silas said, his expression full of deep emotion.

Ivy thought, "?"

She was now certain. Silas had definitely hit his head.

"Ivy, I’ll really break off all contact with Anna Nash. Let me court you again, okay? I promise I’ll be good to you. I’ll never be like I was before," Silas said, extremely worked up, his voice growing loud.

Ivy was genuinely taken aback. ’Has Silas lost his mind?’

"Bla—" Ivy had only gotten one syllable out when the hospital room door was pushed open.

A man standing nearly six-foot-three was there, his expression exceptionally cold. Ivy looked up and her eyes met his.

’Why is Quentin Blackwood here too? He couldn’t have heard what Silas just said, could he?’

For some reason, a strange feeling crept into Ivy’s heart, as if she really was involved with Silas and had just been caught by Quentin.

She didn’t know where this guilt was coming from. She was on perfectly clear terms with Silas, and absolutely nothing had happened.

"Uncle? Uncle, are you here to see me?" Silas asked from his wheelchair, looking at the man in the doorway.

Behind Quentin, Mrs. Blackwood and Sylvia were still peering into the room.

"How are you?" Quentin asked, looking at Ivy.

However, Silas thought Quentin was asking him. He quickly replied, "I’m fine, nothing serious. The doctor said I just need to rest, and I’ll be better in a couple of days."

Ivy was speechless.

"Uncle, you have no idea. Ivy was willing to risk her own life to save me. The moment she saw that car coming, she threw her arms around me."

"I understand how she feels now, and I’ve decided. From now on, I will treat her well and build a good life with her."

Silas said this deliberately for Quentin’s benefit.

Although he didn’t know what the relationship between Quentin and Ivy was, he had to stake his claim and let others know that Ivy was his.

Besides, for some reason, he had a feeling his uncle wasn’t here specifically to see him.

But if he wasn’t here to see him, who else could it be? Could he be here to see Ivy?

"Is that so?" Quentin’s eyes showed no hint of emotion, but they were bone-chillingly cold.

When that gaze swept over Silas, Silas felt his scalp tighten.

"Yes. After this near-death experience, I finally understand. All that Ivy and I have been through was arranged by fate. It’s our destiny. Since she likes me, we should get married."

"You like him?" Quentin’s gaze shifted to her, and his eyes seemed to grow even colder.

Silas also looked at Ivy, a flicker of nervousness in his heart. He wanted her to like him.

A sarcastic smile touched the corners of Ivy’s lips. Her next words would make Silas’s hopeful expression crumble.

Ivy said...
