Chapter 159: Frostblade
"Congratulations on your evolution."
Selene froze, then blinked twice. The words had caught her off guard for a moment, and she was perplexed about how to reply.
In the end, she settled for a simple nod before focusing on the Star Stream messages before her.
[You have completely evolved into a Tier One Entity!]
[Your Origin grows stronger!]
[As a result of the Origin you have absorbed, you have gained +87 Strength points, +81 Stamina points, +79 Agility points, and +70 Mana points!]
[You have leveled up to Level 46! +50 Stat points gained!]
[You can finally choose your class!]
[Options — ]
Before she could check the options further, Leon’s movement brought her attention back to him.
"You need some time to check your growth. We’ll talk in the morning."
She blinked, then nodded, feeling grateful that he didn’t pester her. It wasn’t like she would answer him if he got annoying anyway.
When Leon finally retreated, her attention turned back to the glowing screen before her.
[Options — ]
[1. Swordmaster]
[2. Magic Swordmaster]
[3. Frostblade]
[4. Ice Mage]
Selene took a deep breath and considered the four options. Each of the options sounded powerful, and quite understandable.
’Ice Mage will make me focus completely on the path of a mage. Meanwhile, Swordmaster will probably improve my skills with the sword.’
She shook her head, immediately cancelling out both options. While they were good, they would only be ordinary classes. For an unknown reason, Selene was attracted to the only mysterious option present.
’Frostblade...’
The name alone sent a shiver down her spine, and after taking a full minute to make her decision, she chose option three. Instantly, the screen opened to reveal new information.
[Class: Frostblade - A warrior who combines the sword with the power of absolute ice. Frostblades are capable of creating, manipulating, and weaponizing ice through their swordsmanship, turning every battle to their advantage]
Selene’s eyes widened as she read the description. Then, she clenched her fists in excitement. However, her surprise was only just starting.
[You have learned the Skill - Frostblade]
[You have learned the Skill - Frozen Step]
[You have learned the Skill - Glacial Edge]
The three lines heightened her surprise. Skills? Weren’t there only abilities and traits?
Coursing with excitement, she opened the skills one by one.
[Skill: Frostblade - Consumes mana to coat the user’s weapon in condensed frost, greatly increasing its sharpness and destructive power. The frost can also gradually freeze anything struck by the weapon]
[Skill: Frozen Step - Consumes mana to instantly create a layer of ice beneath the user’s feet, allowing them to rapidly slide, change direction, and accelerate across any surface]
[Skill: Glacial Edge - Condenses the user’s mana and ice energy into a powerful blade slash capable of cutting through targets from a distance. The range and destructive power of the attack increase with the amount of mana consumed]
Selene’s eyes glinted, and she couldn’t help but feel strange. Each of these skills were powerful, and she had no doubt that she could take on any Tier One creature and kill it in less than ten minutes.
She unconsciously heaved a sigh, and her expression turned melancholic.
’Mother, Big Sister, I’m coming for you soon...’
She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, they were as cold as ice.
Finally, she opened her status window and saw her information clearly.
[Name - Selene White]
[Class - Frostblade]
[Level - 46(Tier One)]
[Race - Human]
[AGL - 181]
[STR - 182]
[STA - 179]
[Mana - (190/190)]
[Stat points - 55]
[Skills - [Frostblade] [Frozen Steps] [Glacial Edge] ]
[Traits - [Enhanced Hearing]...]
[Abilities - [Tier One Ice Creation] [Ice Control]...]
As her eyes settled on her two complementary abilities, something weird happened.
[Do you wish to combine [Tier One Ice Creation] and [Ice Control] into a single ability [Ice Manipulation]?]
Selene’s eyes widened again, and she couldn’t help but rub her temples tiredly. The amount of shock she had experienced that day was enough to make her still heart beat rapidly in a way that she hadn’t felt in years.
’Wait... that guy...’ Her eyes narrowed. ’Did he give this to me intentionally? That knowing smile on his face...’
Her expression turned complicated, and a frown appeared on her face.
......
Meanwhile, Leon hit the bed as soon as he returned to his room. He had really put his all into being a temporary bodyguard for Selene.
Finally, he could rest. His arms tightened around the pillow, as if he were seeking the warmth of something or someone.
It wasn’t until eleven in the morning that he woke up, wincing from the bright light of the sun filtering into the room.
’Ah, my mental fatigue has eased. That’s good.’
He yawned lazily, then stood up from the bed. The first thing he did was to go take a bath, as he didn’t even have the energy to do that before falling asleep several hours ago.
Changing into clothes that definitely weren’t his but fit him, he finally exited the room and headed downstairs. He was starting to feel hungry as it had been over twenty-four hours since he had last eaten.
He met with one of the maids, who immediately went to fetch him his preserved breakfast. Leon thanked her, then settled in the dining hall.
Before long, the others arrived; Marie, Selene, Emily, Jones, and surprisingly, Nicolas. Surprisingly, the first person to speak was the silver-haired lady.
"Feeling relaxed now?"
Leon tilted his head in confusion, as the tone with which she spoke was completely unfamiliar.
Seeing his expression, the corners of her lips lifted slightly. Her tone turned frosty, something everyone was familiar with.
"You can’t answer?"
Leon finally snapped out of his daze and answered her previous question. "I’m relaxed. Thank you."
The young lady nodded with a satisfied expression, then took a seat to his left. Marie sat on the right side of the table, her eyes narrowed as she looked at Selene.
The longer she looked, the more she felt amused. ’Eh...? The Ice Queen is finally opening up a little, huh?’
As Leon began to eat, Nicolas finally spoke when the place fell silent.
"Leader, I have received news about something that you might be interested in."
The atmosphere in the room turned serious, and even the others stopped eating their snacks.
"Go on," Leon said, his tone noticeably heavier.
Nicolas nodded. "About two weeks ago, we noticed several starlights streaking across the skies at night. The former leader and his two trusted men headed out to find the one that had fallen into the forest to our east."
Hearing this, Leon, Selene, Marie, Emily, and Jones became very interested.
