Chapter 145: Crushing Floyd Bennett Camp (3) [20 GT Bonus Chapter]

Samuel’s eyes widened as his intuition trait informed him of intense danger approaching. With nimbleness uncharacteristic of a normal human, he leaned back just in time to dodge an ice bullet that instead struck the head of an unfortunate evolver who immediately had his head frozen and died on the spot.

Samuel’s eyes trembled as he realized that while this lady might be a mage, she was terrifying even before becoming a Tier One Evolved.

Collins was stunned when Samuel got attacked abruptly, and he immediately felt a flush of anger.

"Don’t ignore me!"

Roaring, he pounced on her with his heavy metal club raised in the air.

Selene glanced at him indifferently, then raised her left hand. At the same time, she stepped back gracefully.

"Ice Shield."

A moment later, Collins’s club impacted the shield, resulting in what sounded like the explosion of a grenade.

Boom! Crack!

Under Selene’s surprised expression, the ice shield actually cracked, but didn’t shatter. A moment later, her surprise was gone, replaced by her usual indifference. It wasn’t that surprising, after all.

Collins was a warrior who obviously excelled in brute force, so his strength was definitely high enough to cause that much damage.

Since the attack had been blocked, she immediately dissolved the shield, regaining a bit of her mana. Then, she sidestepped and pulled her sword out of its sheath, blocking an attack aimed at her from a blind spot.

Clang!

Samuel’s eyes widened as he saw her block his dagger. Not even a second later, he jumped back in panic when two ice bullets brushed past his head, missing him by a few inches.

A mage wielding a sword? How could she combine the two together? Shouldn’t her physical stats be weaker than her mana stats?

Also, judging from how she blocked his attack, he knew she was just as strong as him.

Seeing this anomaly, the unease in Samuel’s heart grew. His Special Class; Assassin Priest, gave him the natural skills of an assassin, but also the ability to detect great danger that was imminent.

’I fear that today...’

He glanced at Marie, seeing her move unhindered despite fighting over a hundred evolvers. Of course, she wasn’t that overpowered. It was just that there were too many enemies and there was only her.

The enemies had to be careful not to hurt each other with their own attacks while Marie had no such concerns. She only targeted those close to her while being on guard against ranged attacks.

Still, this was an impressive feat that couldn’t be achieved by just anyone.

Still uneasy, Samuel looked over to the battle between Leon and Dwayne, and his expression turned ugly.

......

Boom!

Dwayne’s fist slammed into Leon’s guard, but he held despite the heat being transmitted to his arm through the armor.

Immediately after Dwayne’s fist landed, Leon’s punch shot out with maximum momentum, knocking into the flame-man’s gut.

"Ugh."

The man grunted as he stumbled back, his eyes bloodshot as he stared at his enemy. During these few minutes, they had exchanged over twenty blows, but Leon looked like he hadn’t even been feeling it at all.

Meanwhile, Dwayne was experiencing pain in several parts of his body. Every part where Leon had punched or kicked left a dull ache that persisted greatly.

’He’s fighting like a seasoned combatant. Was he trained in the past?’

While each and every one of Leon’s moves looked bizarre, they weren’t really strange. Dwayne had seen his fair share of martial arts movies, and this was the first time he was experiencing it.

’Dammit!’

Raising his arms, he blocked a kick that made him wince and slide five meters back.

Leon stayed with his leg raised for a few seconds, then slowly lowered it. He looked at Dwayne with a faint smile.

"While using that transformation ability, you can’t use magic attacks, right?"

Instantly, Dwayne’s expression changed, and he looked at his enemy with narrowed eyes. "How did you figure it out?"

Leon spoke slowly, his tone unhurried.

"How I did? It’s simple, actually. You’re obviously a mage, but you probably just got this ability that allowed you to be a melee warrior while having a considerable amount of physical stats."

Dwayne frowned, his anger rising. "How did you know I was a mage?"

Was there a spy in his base?

"Actually, your suspicion is not wrong. But it’s not entirely right, either," Leon shook his head. "While I learned your name and level from what you can consider a spy, they never told me your ability."

"Then how...?"

"It’s simple. Your melee combat ability is trash. It feels like I’m bullying a kid." Leon shrugged.

Hearing this particular comparison, Dwayne felt insulted. Then, he began to laugh.

"Hahaha! Since that is the case, I don’t need to hold back anymore."

His laughter stopped abruptly, and his voice turned into a growl.

"I was worried about burning a few buildings, but it seems that sacrifice would be necessary."

He deactivated the [SunSpirit Transformation] ability, then activated another one.

"Get ready to die."

His voice had barely dropped when the temperature rose. Leon instinctively reached for his greatsword, then paused.

Dismissing the idea of using the heavy blade, he flexed his fingers and raised his right hand.

At the same time, Dwayne raised both hands and shouted, "Hellfire Blast!"

A pure beam of destructive fire energy formed between his palms, then shot towards Leon without delay.

"You’re right," Leon stepped back. "Let’s not destroy the surroundings."

The beam of fire cut through where he had been standing, burning a few unlucky armed men to charred corpses.

Dwayne’s eyes searched for the remains of his targeted enemy, not even caring about the loss of his allies.

However, he couldn’t find Leon no matter how he focused.

’What the...’

Suddenly, he heard a voice behind him, and his blood turned cold despite the heat.

"I personally condemn your leadership skills. So, die."

Dwayne had no time to react before he felt a strong blow hit the back of his head. The next moment, he had no head.

Bang!

Despite the blood that splattered on his face, Leon didn’t move. Instead, he stared at the hand which he had used to kill this human.

About two months ago, he would have never done anything like this. Well, unless someone posed danger to his family.

But that was a different case. Killing a human so casually...

Leon tilted his head, realizing he felt no particular emotion after killing a human.

Just then, he inhaled a pleasant scent that he had gotten used to in the past month and a half. What followed was a voice he had heard several times, but would never get tired of.

"Are you finally starting to notice the strangeness of your own attitude?"
