Chapter 146: Crushing Floyd Bennett Camp (4) [20 GT Bonus Chapter]

"Are you finally starting to notice the strangeness of your own attitude?"

Thyra’s question made Leon blink in surprise, and he turned to her.

"I’m changing...?"

The beautiful woman was staring at him with a serious expression. Hearing his question, she nodded. But deep in her heart, she wasn’t sure it was a change.

’He’s still perfectly rational despite his indifference towards killing. Even now, I can tell that he’s forcing that doubt to take hold. He’ll soon dismiss the strangeness again.’

She sighed inwardly, feeling conflicted. She wasn’t able to get a true understanding of this person at all.

Just as she predicted, Leon sighed, then stood straight. His expression had returned to being perfectly calm, and he turned back to look at the battle between the others.

Selene had her sword fully unsheathed now, her cold eyes fixed on her two opponents.

Collins had a deep gash on his shoulder, but there was no blood. After all, the wound was frozen and continued to cause him great pain. As for Samuel, although he had been able to evade her attacks with what appeared to be a precognition ability, his stamina had been drained.

He was panting, holding his dagger tightly as he looked at Selene warily.

Just like him, Selene was getting exhausted. After all, it wasn’t easy to fight two figures who were Tier One Evolved. Her mana had almost been depleted, but she didn’t let it show.

"Bitch...!" Collins growled, his eyes reddened with rage.

He possessed the Berserker Class., and it increased his power whenever he got enraged. Having been entangled in an annoying battle with this young lady, he was fully infuriated.

"Die!"

Selene braced herself for the enemy attack, but was surprised when he tumbled instead.

Her eyes immediately snapped down to the shadow hands that had pulled Collins’s legs, causing him to trip.

’He’s done...?’

To her greater surprise, the shadow of her sword moved and solidified. Then, it shot straight at the falling man’s chest.

Puchi!

His heart was pierced cleanly, his eyes wide in surprise, fear, and confusion. Only one thought crossed his mind before he died.

’How...?’

[You have slain a Level 30 Tier One Evolved human Collins Black!]

[You cannot level up!]

[Progress has been stored!]

Seeing his teammate fall to death, and sensing the demise of Dwayne behind him, Samuel didn’t hesitate. Holding his dagger, he dashed straight at the gates, intending to escape.

Unfortunately, he was too late.

Marie, who had been paying attention to her surroundings despite being outnumbered, was the fastest to react to his escape.

She didn’t hesitate to throw her spear straight at him, piercing his heart cleanly.

"Kuack!"

The man’s eyes expressed shock as he looked at the woman. He had been on guard against Leon and Selene, but he didn’t think Marie would be free enough to attack him.

’Damn it... I knew we were going to die.’

[You have slain a Level 29 Tier One Evolved human Samuel Winston!]

[You cannot level up!]

[Progress has been stored!]

Just like Leon and Selene, Marie had already reached Level 25, although she had only reached it a few days ago.

When the other evolvers realized their leader and the two vice-leaders were dead, they were shocked.

They stopped trying to attack the woman despite the fact that she was currently unarmed.

Leon walked over, his gaze calm and indifferent.

"Does anyone still want to continue opposing? I have quite some stamina left."

The evolvers stepped back in fear, clearly unwilling to fight him. Among the hundred-plus evolvers that had joined hands to fight Marie, twenty-three of them were already dead.

Finally, one of them, apparently some kind of squad leader, stepped forward. He was a mature man, a part of the U.S. military before the apocalypse started.

"We surrender. But... what exactly do you guys want?"

Leon was surprised to see how composed this man was. So, he asked, "What is your name?"

The man was surprised, then answered, "Nicolas Rogers."

Leon nodded and said, "I see. I’m taking over the leadership of this base, and a full restructuring would happen soon. I need you to gather the other evolvers and soldiers here tomorrow. Is that understood?"

A ripple of surprise spread through the evolvers and soldiers, but Nicolas had already expected it. He sighed in his heart, then nodded.

"Understood, Leader."

Leon was satisfied, then remembered something. "Ah, I also need you to send people to houses 113 and 175 in the Outer Ring. Have the occupants come here."

Nicolas was surprised, but didn’t ask questions. He gave a salute to Leon, then immediately got to work. He began to organize the remaining evolvers to get the dead bodies of their teammates away.

Leon hesitated, wondering whether to stop them, as he could see several abilities and traits in those bodies.

’Hm, I can’t risk doing that, though. What a loss.’

Scoffing in his heart, he went over to Marie who had pulled her spear out of Samuel’s body.

Staring at the man’s corpse, Leon’s eyes glinted.

— Ability: Stealth Slash. Extract?

— Ability: Silent Benediction. Extract?

— Trait: Divine Premonition. Extract?

’These guys are treasure chests!’

He had already extracted three abilities and two traits from Dwayne’s body. Now, this guy was before him too.

Suppressing an excited grin, Leon pulled Collins and Samuel by a leg each, then began to drag them into a secluded area.

"Give me a minute."

Marie looked confused, while Selene narrowed her eyes suspiciously. Was he going to eat the corpses?

Unaware that she had such ridiculous thoughts, Leon dumped the bodies in a dark corner, and after confirming that there was no one around, he got to work.

His hand took on a radiant gold color, and he began pulling out scrolls from the men’s bodies.

A minute later, he was done and had stored everything in his storage ring. Then, to avoid misunderstandings, he dragged the bodies back into the clearing, which only confused Selene even more.

’He didn’t eat them?’

Giving one last reluctant look at the remaining corpses that were being carried away, Leon walked into the main villa, followed by Selene and Marie.

That night, the Floyd Camp ushered its new leader.
