Chapter 143: Crushing Floyd Bennett Camp (1)

When the sun retreated into the horizon, the camp had grown quieter as most of the survivors had gone to sleep, mostly out of fear of the mutated beasts hunting in the night.

In the Leader’s villa in the core region of the Floyd Camp, a tan-skinned man was currently having a luxurious dinner at his dining hall.

In the past, he never dreamed of such wealth and power, but now, he had everything in his grasp. While others hated the appearance of the Star Stream, all he felt was delight.

While gazing at the row of beautiful maids dressed in skimpy clothing, he savored the taste of a Tier One Evolved Fire Fowl.

He wasn’t alone at the table, as there were two women by his side, and two men sitting opposite him.

The two women were very beautiful, even comparable to Gwen who had a tempting body and a cute face. This was natural, as although these two women were not evolvers, they were celebrities over a month ago.

This was precisely the reason the tan-skinned man had kept them at his side. They were people he could only dream of meeting in the past, but now, he could have them writhe and moan under him every night.

Tearing his gaze off the beautiful maids, he looked at one of the two men at the table and asked.

"Collins, you said you heard some interesting news, right? Let’s hear it."

The bald, burly man raised his head and said, "Leader Dwayne. It’s nothing significant. Apparently, a small group of evolvers came to our camp yesterday to rest. One of them caused some trouble by killing a civilian, but I guess it’s fine."

Dwayne frowned faintly. "Killing a civilian? That’s quite cruel. How can you kill a fellow human?"

Although he said this in a seemingly angry tone, Collins smiled wryly at those hypocritical words. How many humans had Dwayne killed?

He didn’t know, but they were definitely over a hundred.

The other man, looking far skinnier, frowned faintly. "Leader Dwayne, I’m feeling uneasy."

Instantly, the mood in the dining hall turned gloomy.

Dwayne’s expression became serious as he looked at the man.

"Samuel, what do you think it is?"

The guy had stopped eating and was frowning deeply. "I don’t know... but it feels like the world is about to end or something."

Dwayne and Collins’s expressions turned grave. The last time Samuel had mentioned that, they were eventually attacked by a terrifying Tier One Evolved beast that managed to kill one of them while the others barely fled.

Remembering that dragon-like existence, Dwayne shuddered.

"Could it be another mutated beast?" Collins muttered to himself, his muscles coiling with tension.

Before anyone could reply to him, they heard the sound of gunshots ringing in the distance.

Dwayne immediately got up, his aura as a Tier One Evolved fully unleashed. Samuel and Collins were the same, their expressions tense.

The maids cowered under their fierce expressions while the men equipped their weapons and armor before rushing out of the villa.

......

Approximately three minutes ago, the guards at the Inner Ring walls spotted three silhouettes rushing towards the gates at inhuman speeds.

The first guard immediately raised his gun and fired. After all, he could tell that these evolvers were definitely not part of them.

Bang!

At the sound of the first gunshot, the other guards raised their rifles and fired.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sound of the gunshot was loud in the night, and when the guards finally stopped shooting, they were stunned to realize every shot they fired had missed.

"Shit! There’s no bod—"

The man’s words were abruptly cut off when his head spun in the air and he saw his own headless body standing motionless.

’I... died?’

That was only the start. Realizing that the enemy was far stronger than they had anticipated, the guards began to fire rapidly while trying to land even a single stray shot at the enemy.

Unfortunately, they were all inexperienced and could not track the speed of evolvers. Soon, the sound of gunshots stopped completely, and silence returned to the area.

However, it was only for a brief moment before the sound of thudding boots could be heard as over a hundred armed men and fifteen evolvers whose levels were not low appeared.

Seeing the decapitated corpses on the ground, they felt fear, then anger.

"Which bastard dared to attack our camp?!"

A red-headed evolver shouted with bloodshot eyes. Seeing no one around, he assumed that the attacker(s) had fled upon sensing the arrival of more enemies.

"Dammit! If I ever lay my hands on—"

His eyes went wide as he saw a figure standing mere meters away from him. When... when had he appeared?

Leon looked into the eyes of this evolver, then said, "Stand down, and I will not kill you. Oppose me and perish."

The armed men glanced at each other, and didn’t hesitate to raise their guns.

The shocked expression on the red-headed evolver’s face turned to anger, and he charged at Leon.

"You bastard!"

His fist was enveloped in hot flames that obviously didn’t burn him but would deal damage to his enemies.

Leon easily sidestepped the punch and knocked his elbow against the guy’s neck, snapping the bones and killing him.

[You have slain a Level 17 Evolver Thomas Stark!]

[You cannot level up!]

[Progress has been stored!]

Leon ignored the messages as he looked at the armed men and remaining evolvers before him. The instant Thomas’s body dropped to the ground, they didn’t hesitate to fire.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Leon immediately took a step back into his own shadow, reappearing behind the group of armed men.

Seeing their enemy disappear, the normal humans were stunned and unconsciously stopped firing. However, that was a fatal mistake.

Thin ice bullets rained down from the skies, piercing into their bodies with ease and claiming lives within seconds.

"Kuack!"

"Who’s tha—ack!"

"Somebody help!"

Their organized formation immediately crumbled, and before they could try to locate the enemy mage, they all felt the breath of death at the back of their necks.

Striking with his fists, Leon made the heads of two evolvers explode as they were caught off guard.

Even though they knew he had appeared behind them, there was nothing they could do about it. After all, the ice bullets didn’t stop coming.

In less than a minute, everyone had been killed regardless of whether they were normal humans or evolvers. They simply couldn’t contend with the enemies that had appeared.

Selene and Marie jumped down from the defenseless walls of the Inner Ring, both dressed in their respective armor.

"Wow, I really didn’t have to do anything at all," Marie exclaimed in mock surprise as she looked at the corpses on the ground.

She had gotten used to seeing corpses, so she felt no nauseating feeling at all.

"Well, we shouldn’t expend too much stamina, after all. The night is still young."

Leon shrugged and turned around, advancing towards the Core Ring’s gate. The two women followed behind him, their steps steady.
