Chapter 128: Seven Constellations (1)
After Selene had ensured the Tier One mutated beast corpses were completely frozen, they all returned downstairs to the living room.
"So... to use that wheel, we need Tier One Soul Crystals," Reymond muttered to himself, then sighed. "Haa... I think the Star Stream is forcing us to face those monsters. Don’t you think?"
Leon shrugged, unbothered. "Forcing or not, it’s the inevitable. We humans are evolving into Tier One just like them."
Besides, he wasn’t the one to complain. Today, he had gained a lot of rewards that made a smile threaten to appear on his lips.
’I’ll have to properly check it all later.’
Still suppressing a smile, he leaned back in the chair and spoke solemnly.
"Still, I wouldn’t appreciate any one of us getting too greedy while trying to hunt Tier One beasts. Once you realize your team can’t handle it, back away."
As he spoke, he fixed a long stare on Selene, as his words were targeting her. Although she might not be as strong as he was, Leon knew she was a valuable ally.
Losing her somewhere in the post-apocalyptic neighborhoods would be a great loss.
Selene’s gaze turned colder, but she didn’t look away. Instead, she held his gaze firmly until he broke the staring contest.
Just when he thought she wasn’t going to say anything, she said, "The Star Wheel."
"Hm? What about it?"
"Take me there. Tomorrow morning," She continued.
Leon’s eyes narrowed suspiciously, but he eventually agreed. There was no harm in doing so, anyway. She couldn’t steal its ownership from him, and he wasn’t worried about betrayal since he was 80% sure he could handle her.
Turning to his own team, he said, "Richard, you’ll be in charge of those handling the beast meat and dissecting them into smaller meat strips. You should meet up with Quinn and the other lady for more support from their students."
Richard nodded, having no objections to the task assigned to him.
Turning to Marie, Leon asked, "How many students volunteered to become evolvers?"
She answered dutifully, "Exactly ten of them. And of the eleven survivors we rescued today, six people are also planning to join."
Leon nodded, satisfied. "A total of sixteen. Not bad. I trust I can leave their grooming in your hands?"
She nodded, a confident smile on her face. "I’ll help them all reach Level 5. Then, they have to grow their courage by themselves."
Seeing how supportive Marie was, Leon felt extremely pleased. He was tempted to pat her head, but then realized it would be odd since she was obviously older than him.
’Again with the habits. Goodness, I miss Clara.’
Keeping his thoughts to himself, he smiled at the woman and said, "Thank you."
Then, he turned to Cassie and Fel. "You two. Among the other survivors that aren’t ready to be evolvers, I want you to get a list and record the occupational skills they had before the apocalypse. And that includes everyone who will join in the future. Understood?"
The two girls nodded. "Mn."
Finally, Leon turned to Miguel. "You’ll be in charge of protecting the base tomorrow while everyone is busy. No slacking off. I’d appreciate that."
The blonde guy nodded, his expression serious.
"That solves it, then," Leon clapped once and stood up. "I guess it’s time for dinner."
From the stairs, one of the chefs appeared to inform them that dinner was ready, and they all headed to the special dining room upstairs.
After spending half an hour eating and chatting with Nora, Leon returned to his room, and as usual, found Thyra laying on his bed while reading a novel.
’Having a girl in your bed really feels strange,’ He thought as he took off the Phantom Assault Armor.
Although he had already cleaned off all the blood and grime on it before dinner, he couldn’t exactly sleep in a suit of armor, could he?
Only an insecure noble would do something so ridiculous.
Instead of sleeping right away despite the exhaustion he was feeling, Leon decided to check his rewards.
From his storage ring, he took out seven scrolls, four cards, and five cubes. Thyra’s eyes glinted, and she paused reading to look at him.
"You’re finally going to check these things, hm~?"
Leon shared her smile and first sorted out the rewards. He set aside the unranked scrolls from the ranked scrolls, dividing them into four and three respectively.
The four cards he had gotten were Basic Ability Upgrade Cards, so he kept them together. Then, he set aside the treasure cubes to be checked last.
Then, he began with the unranked scrolls. There was only one ability while the other three were traits. As for the ability, it wasn’t anything particularly impressive.
’Enhanced Speed. Sounds grand, but nothing serious. Perhaps I’ll give this to one of the new evolvers once Marie is done training them.’
As for the traits, there were two impressive ones, but they didn’t catch his attention. His Martial Mastery trait was obviously superior to them combined, so he didn’t bother learning them.
Shifting his attention to the ranked scrolls, he was surprised to find a Tier One Trait.
[Trait: Tier One Mercy’s Sanctuary - Hostile beings with murderous intent instinctively perceive the user as a lower-priority target. The effect weakens against enemies far stronger than the user but never completely disappears]
Leon’s eyes widened in surprise, as this was definitely an impressive trait. Instantly, he thought of someone whom he had been thinking of protecting lately.
’Yeah, right. This will be perfect for her.’
"Can I have a look?" Thyra asked, and he passed it to her without much thought.
She was inwardly surprised by how easily he agreed, but didn’t let her surprise leak. Instead, she took a casual glance at the trait and nodded.
"Not bad, this would surely be useful for that brown-skinned girl."
"Oh? You were thinking the same?" Leon asked while checking through the other two Tier One abilities.
These two were obtained from their first kills in the warehouse, so he was simply rechecking.
"Mn, I was. She’s quite the loveable girl. Ah, I wish I could pat her head sometimes."
Leon simply nodded with a smile, then proceeded to break the treasure cubes. In a few seconds, his bed was littered with treasures.
’Windrunner Boots, Ring of Vigilance, another Force Ring? Interesting. Two Blood Spears, and a Combat Gear.’
Observing the scattered treasures, he hummed to himself for a few seconds, then swiped them all into his storage ring.
He took out the Lifeform Detector again, and couldn’t help but look at it in amazement.
"I wonder what genius mind created this device," He muttered to himself.
Thyra glanced at him, then answered in an amused voice.
"That toy? It must have been created by one of those nerds in the Arcane Constellation."
Leon’s brows rose. "Arcane Constellation? What is that? This is the second time I’m noticing that name."
Thyra’s amused smile slowly disappeared, and she turned to him with a serious expression.
"You want to know about the Seven Constellations?"
