Chapter 129: Seven Constellations (2)
Thyra sat on the bed, her legs crossed beneath her. Although she looked extremely cute with a casual, girl-next-door vibe, Leon had no chance to pay attention to such little details.
The atmosphere in the room was solemn, and Leon couldn’t help but gulp. This was the first time he had seen Thyra look so serious.
"Usually, this kind of knowledge isn’t something you’re supposed to be exposed to yet, but since it’s not against the rules of the Star Stream, I’ll tell you."
Leon nodded as he faced her, his mind tuned to catch every detail in her words.
"Just as it must have existed on your planet, there are seven supreme factions in the vast universe. We call them Constellations," She started. "The Xenon Galaxy I come from is owned by the Demon Constellation. I remember telling you a bit about that."
He nodded, prompting her to continue.
"Aside from my Demon Constellation, there are six other Constellations that stand on equal footing with us. First is our natural rival—the Divine Constellation."
A flicker of irritation crossed her eyes as she mentioned that name, but she suppressed it and continued.
"Just as you can tell from the name, they’re mostly Angels, Valkyries, Seraphim, and those fickle pigeons."
Leon blinked at the last two words, a chuckle almost escaping his lips. Why did she call them pigeons? It was funny.
Unaware of his thoughts, she resumed speaking. "Then, there is the Titan Constellation. Those ones are what you’d refer to as macho entities. They’re focused on raw power and strength, with most of them being red dragons, giants, golems, and the like. They’re the most chaotic of the constellations."
In his mind, Leon imagined a group of tall, muscular men wearing nothing but black pants while arm wrestling with smug smiles.
’Ridiculous,’ He rolled his eyes.
"Next is the Arcane Constellation you were curious about," Thyra paused, a flicker of approval crossing her face. "Those guys are geniuses. They’re the masterminds behind the universe’s technological advancement. Of course, this only concerns worlds that have been recognized by the Star Stream."
Leon nodded slowly, imagining a group of bushy-haired scientists with large glasses hanging on their noses, gathered together and discussing invention ideas in hushed voices.
’My imagination is poor, I know.’
"Are you paying attention?"
Seeing that he was a little dazed, Thyra asked. She knew that such information was going to be quite a lot for someone who had been an ordinary human a little over a month ago to accept, but she had to tell him.
After all, with the way he was growing, there was a small chance he might encounter them in the future.
"I am," Leon nodded, his gaze steady.
She felt slightly relieved, as he wasn’t reeling in shock or anything. More astounding information was still coming.
"Okay, so I stoppat the Arcane Constellation, right? After those geniuses, there is the Astral Constellation. Unlike those belonging to the Arcane, this constellation is much more rooted in the ancient universe and they’re more like a religion centered around an entity called Fate."
Leon’s eyes widened subtly. "Fate? Religion? That sounds... unsettling, to be honest."
Thyra chuckled at his reaction. "Indeed, they’re a bunch of weirdos, but they are quite strong too. Most of them are brilliant schemers, capable of manipulating what they call ’threads of fate’. There were several massive events that occurred because of their influence, so they are viewed highly in the entire universe."
Leon nodded and quietly digested the information. As for why he wasn’t trembling in awe or stupefied by these constellations she was mentioning, it was simple.
Leon was an avid novel reader. From several novel platforms, he had read the most popular works of fantasy and science fiction, hence broadening his mind to accept things like external civilization beyond Earth.
’Besides, the Star Stream is the biggest piece of the puzzle. Not some constellations in the sky.’
Thyra continued, moving on to the next constellation. "The Primal Constellation. This one is mostly composed of elves—exactly like what you humans imagine."
She paused, letting Leon realize that humans had been so close to the truth with their ’imaginative thinking’.
Then, she continued, "Although there are some elves in the Arcane Constellation, they’re different from the ones in the Primal Constellation. These ones are what you’d call True Elves, as they stick to their tradition, and are heavily favored by nature."
Seeing him nod with his lips pressed together, she finally moved on to the last one.
"The final constellation... is the Void Constellation. I can’t give you much information about them, since I don’t really know a lot. But they’re a very dangerous bunch. Even Lucifer is wary of them."
"Lucifer? Is that the leader of your Demon Constellation?" Leon asked, his tone curious.
"Mn," She nodded. "Every Constellation is headed by a Tier Nine Evolved Being, and in our case, that person is Lucifer Morningstar."
"I see..." He nodded absentmindedly, trying to create an image of that man through the movies and tales he had read. In the end, he gave up on the idea.
"So... these constellations are at the peak of the universe, and they’re practically the overlords?"
Thyra nodded, "The Seven Constellations are the supreme rulers of the universe, and even the Star Stream values them specially. That is why they are given access to reach out to lower worlds like yours once those worlds enters Phase Three Evolution for talented individuals. If you survive until then, you’ll likely be scouted too."
Hearing this, Leon froze. Since she had started speaking, he hadn’t felt anything in particular, merely absorbing the the knowledge like information from any article or novel he’d read online."
However, when she spoke about possible interaction with them, his heart tightened, and he felt a flicker of unease.
Although he didn’t consider himself anything special, he knew his Extraction ability was a valuable one—as Thyra had confirmed it by herself.
No matter what, that ability was an attention magnet, and he knew it would eventually bring him trouble.
However, it wasn’t the trouble that he truly feared. Instead, it was the fact that the people he cared about might be caught in the fallout.
After all, fate was a bastard and always made a situation even more complicated whenever you try to avoid it.
Thyra was highly perceptive, and seeing that he was disturbed, she quickly deduced the reason.
"You don’t have to worry, though. Until your world becomes a Tier Five world, the true powerful beings can’t step on your soil or do anything to you guys."
Leon was slightly relieved by her reassurance, but not by much.
Still, he knew he couldn’t just waste time wallowing in pessimistic thoughts about a distant future. So, he sighed and plopped onto the bed to get some rest.
The next thing he saw was sunlight filtering into the room, and Thyra’s sleeping face inches away from him.
’What a splendid way to wake up in an apocalyptic world!’
