Chapter 201: We Are Here In Australia

The car pulled up into the driveway of a rather impressive looking lobby where I could already see a group of well dressed individuals standing outside to receive me.

Charlotte stepped out first with Olivia a close second behind her and I realised my Oni had wanted to get out to open the door for me but since Charlotte was closer, she ended up reaching my door first.

But before she could open it, Olivia practically appeared right beside her and grabbed her wrist, stopping her from moving completely and giving her a pointed look.

Charlotte seemed to understand and quickly backed away, letting Olivia open the door for me instead and allowing me to step out.

If the earlier interaction was of concern to the people standing at the door, none of them showed it as they all approached me with smiles on their faces.

The guy at the front introduced himself as one of the executive members of Australia’s rift ministry or something which I promptly forgot about because the others behind him also quickly introduced themselves ranging from executives of the hotel to executives of the Convention Centre itself.

I’m pretty sure all of them were simply hoping that I would remember them and give them some benefits in the future.

That obviously wasn’t going to happen but I still at least maintained a facade of being interested at least.

Such is the problem with modern world connections, I suppose...

With the initial greetings at the door done and over with, I was ushered inside the building and into the lobby that seemed to be completely cleared out for my arrival.

We moved past the reception desks where the staff behind them quickly bowed their heads as we walked past, all of them making sure not to make eye contact with me.

Past the reception counters was the lift lobby and I noted that there were three of them on one side and there was a staff that was holding the door of one of them so that we could step inside.

The lift could not fit all of us so only the hotel executive, Charlotte, Olivia, Dan, Jia Lian, Sergei and myself entered the lift.

Incidentally, it was Olivia who singled out those three to accompany us, probably picking them because of their defensive abilities in case we found enemies while inside the lift.

Before I stepped inside the lift, I saw that the other two lifts on the same side were also in the midst of ascending upwards before I stepped past the doors.

The lift ride up was a silent and awkward one, the number on the lift’s display rapidly ascending until it stopped at the number thirty two.

I stepped out and a glance at the other two lifts showed that they each stopped at floors thirty three and thirty four respectively.

The hotel executive started guiding me towards the end of the corridor while pulling out a key card.

"We have prepared our Prestige Suite for you, Mortal God. This entire floor is for your use. Your Guardians can use whichever rooms they fancy on this floor."

They’re giving us the entire floor huh...

If I’m not wrong... That means that the two elevators that went to those two floors above most likely contained the other two Mortal Gods, both of them also occupying an entire floor for themselves.

Guess we all reached the hotel at the same time huh? I wonder if this is a coincidence or something they timed for deliberately? Only question is I wonder where those two entered the hotel from?

The executive stops at a specific door and taps the keycard on the reader to unlock it, pushing the door open and holding it for me.

Olivia stepped inside first, my red Oni scanning the room for threats before she allowed Sergei to step in after her.

He was already scanning the room with his shadows without her instruction while Jia Lian and Dan stayed with me.

It only took him a moment to clear the room before he turned back to give us a nod, indicating that the room was cleared of any intruders or spying devices.

I took the proffered key card from the executive and stepped inside the suite room.

"Please call us if you need anything at all, Mortal God," The executive bowed before stepping back.

Charlotte immediately took his place, "Mortal God. Please take your time to rest today. The summit will start tomorrow and I shall send the details of it to Miss Olivia immediately after this."

I gave her a curt nod, prompting her to leave with the executive to head towards the lifts.

Oliva turned then turned to me, "I shall make the arrangements for the Guardians to stay on this floor, my Lord. I will come back with your luggage once they have it sent up here."

I nodded at her as well and all of my Guardians filled out to the corridor, allowing the door to close behind them and leaving me alone in my suite.

To my right was a sort of sitting room with a small dining table and the bedroom with its king sized bed and the attached bathroom was to my left.

I let out a sigh as I finally relaxed myself, having been coiled up like a spring the entire time I got off the plane so as to look the part of being a Mortal God.

The thought that I would also have to keep this persona up for the entirety of tomorrow made me let out another sigh as I walked over to the suite’s floor to ceiling windows to look at the view outside.

Darling Harbour lay sprawling in front of me with several boats moored at the pier and Pyrmont Bridge stretching across the water.

Right behind the bridge was what looked like a warship that you might see back in the nineteen hundreds, its grey frame blending almost perfectly with the water that it sat on top of.

I watched the sight for a while more before a knock came from my door and I opened it to see Leena there with my luggage bag which she helped me bring into my room to drop off for me before she left.

I then drew the curtains and covered up the windows around the entire suite, making sure that every inch of the glass was covered before I reached up to my face and took off my mask.

Placing the thing on the glass table in the sitting room, I happened to walk past the television that was displaying a slideshow of the various amenities that were present within the hotel.

Normally I would ignore it and just shut it off but the screen just so happened to show they had an executive lounge on the top floor that was open for use and I thought that it might be nice to unwind a little up there.

There should be free drinks and food too with a nice view of the harbour and I could just go there and pretend like I was just a normal person instead of the Mortal God since it’s a public space anyway.

With that in mind, I quickly opened up my luggage bag and took out a change of clothes, making sure that people won’t be able to match me to my Mortal God persona by figuring out the fact that I was wearing the same clothes when I visit that space.

I even made sure to dress a little more formal with a collared button shirt thrown over a T-shirt and a pair of long pants and dress shoes.

Taking a moment to check myself in the mirror and styling my hair a little, I slid the room’s keycard in my pocket and stepped out into the corridor outside.

The place was eerily quiet as my Guardians were no doubt settling into their own rooms, each of them having been given a room of their own since there were more than enough rooms on this floor to house all of us individually.

I walked past the rows of doors and headed towards the lift lobby, pressing on the ’up’ button on the panel.

The same lift that we used to get up here immediately opened, almost like it was programmed to stay waiting on this specific floor and set aside for our specific use.

I stepped inside and waited for the lift to ascend to the top floor where the lounge was located, the elevator music humming to mask the whirring of the elevator sounds before the ding signalled my arrival.

I stepped out of the elevator and was a little surprised to see a staff member already there, the woman bowing to me stiffly when I appeared.

"Wel... Welcome to the lounge, sir! T... Table for one?"

I nodded at her, wondering why she was that nervous and allowed her to guide me to an empty table near the window overlooking the harbour.

The entire lounge was empty aside from a single woman wearing a tank top and jeans with chestnut brown skin seated at another table, a glass of water in front of her and her gaze locked at the harbour outside.

She looked quite pretty if I was being honest but... Nothing to do with me~

Now let’s see what food they serve here~
