Chapter 202: They’re From The Other Mortal God Teams
The lounge was designed to serve in a buffet style where you could just go and take what you want to enjoy at your table.
I noted that there was really no one else around aside from a handful of staff members who seemed to be constantly on edge for some reason.
My table never had an empty plate for more than a few seconds and my cup was also almost always full.
Oh, and I obviously went ahead to try all the free food available here, at least the ones that looked nice.
Hey, it’s free! My mother would scold me if I don’t do it!
I can already picture her standing there with her hands on her hips and looking at me in disappointment telling me to take the expensive stuff first and then bring a takeout box to shove more inside to take away with me.
Well... I was obviously not shameless enough to do that here on my own but... Hmmm~ These strawberry tarts are actually pretty good... I wonder if they would be fine with me taking a few back to my room to enjoy?
As I was taking a break from stuffing myself with food, I noted that the woman that had been sitting a few tables across from me had not eaten anything aside from some bread and water.
In fact, she has just been looking out the window the entire time as well.
I didn’t mean to stare but I have to say that her features were flawless and her midriff exposed the slight hint of abs which was particularly eye-catching.
She looked like your friendly neighborhood older sister who would take care of the neighborhood kids just because she could.
Looking around, I also found it a little weird that no one else had come up to the lounge either. I would have thought that there would at least be some other people up here by now. Especially since this place was open to anyone who has booked one of the higher tier rooms and there’s literally free food here.
Maybe it’s a slow business day for the hotel or something...
Just as I thought about that, I heard the ding of the elevator and another person stepped out.
I thought the staff members could not be more tense but somehow, they tensed up even more when another person appeared.
The person at the lift greeted the newcomer the same way they had greeted me and ushered them inside.
I peeked at the entrance to see another woman with chestnut brown skin strutting in confidently with a smile on her face, her shoulder length auburn hair swaying like there was wind blowing past her.
She was wearing what I could only describe as a tight aerobics leotard where her legs were exposed and I couldn’t help but feel my eyes drawn to those powerful legs of hers that could give Ava and even Leena a run for their money.
That was what was going through my mind when I was looking at her and I must have stared a little too hard because she noticed and turned to smile at me, prompting me to quickly look away and pretend that I wasn’t just staring at her.
I pretended to be busy with my cup of tea while following the first woman’s lead of just staring out the window and acting like the scenery outside was more interesting.
But that did not seem to work because a face appeared in my peripheral vision, the appearance so sudden that it actually made me jump a little in surprise.
The same woman giggled, "Sorry, sorry! Hahaha! You were looking at me so closely I just had to come and check if you wanted to talk to me~"
I cleared my throat, "Well, as you can see, there’s no one else coming here so I was wondering why when you showed up."
She straightened herself and gave me a wry smile, "Oh? Is this your first time here?"
I blinked at her before I felt a sense of trepidation welling up within me. Don’t tell me I broke some local custom or something without knowing about it?
I swallowed, "It is indeed my first time here..."
"Well, no surprise then~ On occasions like these, the entire top floor of the hotel is blocked off from the general public so the only people allowed in places like these are people related to the Mortal Gods. I’m guessing you are a Guardian of the new Mortal God?"
Well... I’m currently masquerading as one so I quickly nodded, standing up on my feet to stretch out my hand to her.
"I am Qing. A Guardian for the Mortal God of Singapore."
She grinned and took my hand in hers, shaking it enthusiastically, "You can call me Diana! I’m part of the team accompanying the Mortal God of Indonesia!"
"Ah, nice to meet you, Diana."
She then turned to grin at the other girl, "Have you also been staring at her too?"
I managed to keep my face neutral and somehow also did not choke on my words, "Well... I did say I was wondering why no one else was up here."
Diana chuckled and skipped over to the other woman, giving her a slap on the shoulder and causing her to jump in surprise.
"Hey!! How long are you going to act like you are distracted?!"
I could tell that Diana was just playing around with the woman and meant no malice, the interaction between them already telling me that these two were most likely quite familiar.
The other woman spun towards her and blinked a few times, "Ah? Diana? Since when were you here?"
"You were really lost in thought huh? Did you even realise you were not alone?"
"Alone? Hmm?" The woman turned to look directly at me and the surprise on her face basically proved she really had no idea she wasn’t alone this entire time.
"Ah... I really did not notice. I felt so relaxed that I found my thoughts drifting off. We only just arrived after all so I think it might just be jet lag."
"Oh I know what you mean. Anyway, come on! New friends!!"
Diana pulled the other woman over and I thought it would be rude of me to just stand here so I stepped forward to meet them in the middle.
"Look, this is my new friend, Qing! He’s one of the Guardians of the new Mortal God!"
The other woman blinks a few times before frowning slightly, "New Mortal God?"
Diana rolled her eyes, "Come on.... Have you not even been paying attention to the news? We have a new Mortal God in Singapore now! They’re here right now!"
"Ah... Right. Hello Qing, you can call me Siti. I understand it is your first time here but if you or any of your colleagues encounter any problems, please let me help."
"Thank you for your offer. Are you also a Guardian of the Indonesian Mortal God?"
She was going to open her mouth to speak when Diana let out a laugh, "Ahahaha! No, no~ She’s part of the Malaysian Mortal God team! It’s funny how all three of us just so happen to be up here all at the same time, eh?"
Siti smiled at her like how a big sister might look at her cute younger sister, "Mmm... Everyone else is still busy unpacking after all. It can’t be helped."
I figured out that Siti was most likely the type of girl who would be content with reading a good book and staying indoors on a raining day or just watching people work outdoors while sipping on some tea.
Also... I kind of figured out that Diana is the kind of bubbly, friendly and extroverted girl who can make friends with anyone.
The dynamics of these two girls probably function on Diana invading Siti’s space and pulling her out of it and dragging her around like she adopted her as a sister herself, then Siti just decided to go along with it.
Without waiting for either of us to say anything, Diana then started ushering all of us towards my table, sitting us back down enthusiastically while waving over one of the staff members who hurriedly ran over to her.
"Help my friend bring her stuff over here~ And help me get one of your cakes and a cup of tea please~" She instructed merrily.
The staff rushed off to obey before Diana turned to me and propped up her chin with a smirk on her face.
"Ok~ It’s just the three of us now~ So go on~ Spill~ I want to hear all about the new Mortal God~ What’s he like? I heard he’s really scary and seeing his face will make you collapse in fear, that’s why he wears a mask!"
Siti also chimed in, "I believe that he has another reason for that... Does he?"
Both women looked at me intently, waiting for my answer.
Really? We’re going to turn this into a gossip session about the Mortal Gods? Alright then...
