Chapter 1117: Chapter 1117 - Taming the Wall - Expected Conclusion
A few paces away, the secondary representative, Sirius’s nervous cousin, whose entire authority was currently derived from the black crystal he clutched in his sweaty hands, stepped toward the black statue. He held the corresponding dark heart.
Today, Ren was only going to work on Luna’s mother. Orion’s wife would have to wait in the dark a little longer. Executing two resurrections of this catastrophic magnitude in a single day was functional suicide.
Even with his newly established ’super-network of spore-nodes’ fully active, pushing his core that hard was a risk he absolutely could not afford to take today.
Luna’s hands were visibly trembling. Sirius gently placed his large, scarred hand over hers, steadying her.
Together, they carefully raised the pristine Light crystal and slid it into the gaping cavity in the white statue’s chest. It slotted in with a soft, perfect click.
A few feet away, the nervous representative mirrored their actions. He slid the black crystal into the dark statue’s chest, seating the heart so it would be perfectly ready whenever Ren recovered enough to take his turn, even though that turn wouldn’t be today.
Victor stared at the base of the colossal crystal brain.
They had the cores. Water, Fire, Earth, Light, and Darkness. Five elemental keys sitting right there in the chamber. The temptation was a burning, unbearable itch in his soul.
What if they attempted a partial activation of the brain right now?
Just a tiny, controlled surge to see how the ancient circuitry responded... If any of the delicate pathways burned out or fractured during the test, Ren was standing right there with his monstrous ability to repair the damage.
It was the kind of once-in-a-lifetime experimental opportunity that physically pained an ’enthusiastic’ man like Victor to let pass.
He took a breath.
He opened his mouth to suggest it.
Selphira didn’t say a word. She didn’t even turn her head to face him. She simply shifted her eyes, pinning him with a single, glacial look before his first syllable could even form.
It wasn’t a glare of outright anger. It was a cold, terrifyingly clear look that reminded him, in the space of a microsecond, that Sirius and Luna were currently standing inches away from getting their dead wife and mother back.
If anyone dared to suggest treating this sacred, agonizingly tense moment like a casual experiment, Sirius would likely end in their feet.
Victor understood perfectly. He snapped his mouth shut and aggressively discarded the idea.
At the back of the chamber, Ren finally initiated the sequence.
He organized his ten most trusted anchors in the immediate inner circle: Wei, the Vanguard guards, and the maids. These were the systems he intimately knew, minds that would welcome his magical intrusion without a single spike of resistance.
Behind them, the fifty young academy nodes fanned out around the colossal crystal brain. They linked hands, forming a massive, living circuit designed to shoulder the catastrophic data load Ren absolutely could not bear alone.
He triggered his dual fusion, executing the exact same architectural framework he had used on Sirius.
Except this time, it was almost effortless... It felt almost natural.
The fully realized super-network achieved what the desperate, improvised web of seven Iron-rank mushrooms had nearly failed to do. Anchored by Wei’s Silver-rank fungus, the sixty nodes flawlessly distributed the crushing burden.
The intricate, biological mapping of the white crystal statue unfolded in Ren’s mind with the smooth, frictionless familiarity of a well-rehearsed symphony.
Everything flowed perfectly. There were no frantic bottlenecks. There was no blinding, skull-splitting headache stalling his progress, and he didn’t need the Mantis to desperately hijack the clone crystal to save his life at the last second.
Fully fused, the complete biological map locked in his mind, so Ren unleashed the payload.
He couldn’t trickle the energy; he flooded the circuit all at once.
The white statue transformed from solid, ancient glass into warm, living flesh in a single, instantaneous microsecond, a perfectly controlled biological explosion exactly as fast as the human brain speed required.
The statue had been frozen with its eyes closed. So, Lykea returned to the world of the living with her eyes squeezed tightly shut.
And the absolute very first thing she did was scream.
She wasn’t screaming in pain. She was screaming the exact, desperate words she had been shouting in the final, agonizing millisecond before the light swallowed her.
Her brain simply picked up the exact sentence it had been halfway through processing when time stopped.
"AND I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH! SIRIUS, you stubborn idiot, YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF HER! I am sacrificing myself BECAUSE I LOVE YOU, SO DON’T YOU DARE BE MISERABLE!"
A small pause to recover some air...
"TELL LUNA, MY PERFECT LITTLE BABY, MOMMY LOVES YOU IMMENSELY AND I will always...!"
She had shrieked the words at the absolute top of her lungs, completely convinced she was in the final, terrifying second of her existence.
But then Lykea stopped entirely on her own.
Nobody interrupted her. She simply realized, halfway through her frantic screaming, that she was still talking. If she were truly in the final, lethal second of her life, she shouldn’t have enough breath left to finish the embarrassing paragraph.
The dramatic declaration died in her throat, cut off mid-words.
A few feet away, Luna and Sirius instantly broke out in full-body goosebumps. The sheer, concentrated second-hand embarrassment was physically painful. To hear Lykea loudly, shamelessly broadcasting such intensely private, agonizingly emotional declarations in front of fifty strangers was a nightmare neither of the two hyper-stoic, emotionally repressed Starweavers was prepared to handle.
She slowly opened her eyes. "Am I dead? Is this heaven?" she muttered aloud. "No, no... CAN’T BE HELL, I BEHAVED!"
The very first thing her eyes focused on was Sirius.
He was older. The years had undeniably left their mark, but the legendary vitality of a high-tier Tamer had preserved him far better than time usually allowed. Lykea recognized him instantly, without a single microscopic shred of doubt. She would know that stoic face anywhere.
"OH MY GOD, you seem old today... BUT YOU AGED LIKE FINE WINE! YOU STILL LOOK SO HANDSOME WITH THOSE LINES ON YOUR FACE!" she blurted out.
But then, her eyes drifted to the person standing right next to him.
A young woman.
An adult.
Her daughter... An adult.
