Chapter 1118: Chapter 1118 - Taming the Wall - Expected Conclusión - 2

In that single, shattering detail, Lykea’s brain processed what her perception of time had hidden from her.

A second hadn’t passed... A decade had passed.

She had somehow been trapped for entire years while her precious baby grew up without her.

The devastating realization of everything she had missed hit her like a physical blow, and the tears instantly began to stream down her face.

Except, Lykea didn’t just internalize this realization. She didn’t suffer quietly in the dark like her husband or her daughter would have.

She shows everyone... Out loud. Without a single filter.

She externalized absolutely every single frantic, chaotic thought firing through her brain, exactly how Luna’s mind worked on the inside, but Lykea did it in reality, completely devoid of shame.

"HOW MUCH TIME HAS PASSED?! LUNA IS AN ADULT! MY LITTLE BABY IS A GROWN WOMAN! I WAS TRAPPED ALL THESE YEARS! I MISSED ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!"

Another small pause to recover some air...

"SIRIUS IS OLDER but he is still so incredibly handsome! WHY DID NOBODY TELL ME THIS SOONER?! no, of course nobody told me, I WAS A LITERAL ROCK! OH MY GOD, I MISSED HER ENTIRE CHILDHOOD WAAAHA!"

The words poured out of her mouth in an unstoppable, frantic torrent as she openly wept.

In the back of the room, Mayo violently slapped her own forehead with her palm.

Watching the scene unfold, Mayo couldn’t help but wonder if Luna, a girl so pathologically shy and reserved, was actually going to regret pulling her mother out of the crystal. At this rate, the icy princess was going to literally die of embarrassment before the sun went down.

But despite the bone-deep cringe shivering down their spines, despite the mortifying reality of Lykea screaming all of what should be her mind secrets in front of half the territory, Luna and Sirius didn’t hesitate. They lunged forward.

The three of them collided in a desperate embrace.

They held onto each other with everything they had, and they cried without any filters. Lykea’s non-stop, frantic torrent of spoken thoughts tangled beautifully with Luna’s quiet, broken sobs and the heavy, undeniable tears Sirius couldn’t even pretend to hide anymore.

Selphira smiled warmly.

With a casual, elegant flick of her wrist, she erected a massive, soundproof barrier around the three of them. She instantly severed them from the rest of the group, granting them the absolute, sacred privacy a reunion of this magnitude demanded, shielding their vulnerability from the sixty nodes and everyone else who had absolutely no business intruding on this intimate moment.

But, being the wicked, mischievous woman she was, Selphira deliberately left Ren inside the barrier with them.

Whether he wanted to be there or not, it was far too late for him to escape. He was officially a part of this eccentric, chaotic family now.

Though, showing a rare ounce of mercy, Selphira didn’t trap her own granddaughter Liora, and Larissa, who were theoretically "family" as well, to let them escape the awkwardness... for this time, at least.

A soft, profoundly gentle smile touched Ren’s lips.

He leaned against the wall of Selphira’s barrier, watching the scene unfold. His mind drifted back to the back of an academy building, a little over eight years ago. He remembered the icy, stressed little girl he had met that day. She was a child carrying a suffocating, crushing weight on her shoulders.

Yet, even buried under all that political and emotional ice, she had still worried about a poor boy when absolutely no one else in the school carriage cared.

Now, she was finally getting to experience the one thing he had possessed all along.

Because at the end of the day, Ren realized, he had always been vastly wealthier than her.

It didn’t matter that Luna had been born into big aristocratic wealth while his family almost starved in the outer ring to pay the tuition. It didn’t matter that her Shadow Wolf was universally perceived as a majestic, terrifying beast and she was of noble lineage, while his original spore-fungus was written off as the most pathetic, useless mutation a peasant tamer could contract.

Those were just the shallow, superficial ledgers the world kept to measure people from the outside. But in the only ledger that actually mattered, Ren had always been lightyears ahead. He had possessed two parents who fiercely loved him. Parents who cooked warm meals for him, who kissed his forehead, and who hugged him tightly before he walked out the door.

Luna had lost both of hers.

And now, thanks to the agonizing, impossible journey that had brought them to this underground vault, she had them back. The effort had nearly shattered his core the last time, but looking at the three of them, clinging to each other inside the soundproof barrier, sobbing uncontrollably and whispering each other’s names, it was worth every single drop of blood.

Ren pressed his back harder against Selphira’s wall.

He didn’t dare attempt an escape. Stepping away meant moving, moving meant making noise, and making noise meant intruding upon a sacred, fragile moment that did not belong to him. So, he froze. He turned himself into a living statue at the very edge of the dome, fully determined to hold his breath and remain invisible until the tearful reunion ran its natural course.

’I am going to have a very serious, very loud conversation with that wicked old snake grandma about deliberately trapping me in here,’ Ren promised himself silently.

But right as he was mentally drafting his complaint to Selphira, Lykea’s tear-soaked eyes fluttered open over Sirius’s broad shoulder.

She stared directly at Ren.

A sudden, freezing chill violently crawled up Ren’s spine.

He immediately threw both of his hands up in a frantic, universal gesture of utter surrender. He desperately tried to communicate with his entire face that he had not asked to be here. ’This is an accident! I am a victim of Selphira’s twisted sense of humor! I will leave the exact second this barrier drops!’

But Lykea wasn’t glaring at him with suspicion.

She was staring at him with intense, unfiltered curiosity. She sensed something strange radiating from the boy. It was a bizarrely familiar, intimate frequency that she couldn’t quite place, causing her to narrow her eyes sharply through her tears
