Chapter 613: Chapter 612: Reunion (8)

His words were like a knife, piercing Bella Acker’s heart.

Hiding her fist behind the skirt, her nails dug into her palms, causing a sharp pain that made her raise a beautiful smile, "Mr. Sinclair, what you said makes sense."

Her smile was elegant, and the slightly upturned eyeliner added a seductive charm she didn’t have five years ago. If she’d heard Damian Sinclair speak like that in the past, her face would’ve likely turned pale with hurt.

But now, she didn’t even bat an eye, as if Damian Sinclair’s biting words held as much weight as a stranger’s irrelevant opinion to her.

Damian saw it, with a violent storm hidden in his eyes.

Bella smiled, continuing, "But ultimately, regarding that matter, you slept with me, I actually slept with you too, so we’re even. What do you think, Mr. Sinclair?"

Damian gazed at her intensely, coldly speaking, but not answering her question.

"Wipe that smile off your face, it annoys me to look at."

Bella was momentarily taken aback, then readily retracted her smile, "Sorry, I didn’t know Mr. Sinclair dislikes seeing me smile. Actually, I think I look quite good when I smile. Mr. Sinclair, maybe you should take another look, you might not find it annoying anymore?"

Her tone was light and teasing, as if in a good mood.

But Damian didn’t do as she said and look at her. Instead, he turned to the liquor cabinet in the living room, took out a half-empty bottle of Hennessy and two glasses, silently poured two drinks, handed one towards Bella, and said, "An old friend wants to meet, Ms. Acker, would you like a drink?"

"Of course." Bella gracefully stepped forward and took the glass from his hand.

Their fingers subtly brushed against each other. Bella naturally held her glass and raised it towards him, "Mr. Sinclair, I’ll drink it all, at your leisure." With that, she downed the glass in one go.

In the past, she couldn’t handle alcohol; even a bit of wine would make her drunk. But now, chugging a glass of Hennessy didn’t change her expression, not even a furrow of her brow.

As Damian looked at the woman so close yet seemingly distant, he felt as if a violent beast was trapped inside, ready to break loose at any moment.

Bella set down her glass, her lips curled in a slight smile, but recalling how he found her smile annoying, she retracted it again, saying, "Though it’s not the most expensive Hennessy, it’s a limited edition, with quite a nice taste. Mr. Sinclair, you certainly know how to enjoy life."

She hadn’t just learned to drink, but to savor it too.

Damian silently tilted his head back, pouring the whole glass of liquor into his mouth, swallowing it all at once.

The spicy burn rushed down his throat, causing his grip on the glass to tighten.

"Alright, the drink for meeting an old friend is done, I should go. Mr. Sinclair, goodbye." Bella said, putting down her glass, bending down to pick up her bag from the floor, preparing to leave.

Damian asked, "Weren’t you here to get something? Not taking it?"

Bella, already with her back to him, had her expression stiffen, but her tone gave nothing away, "Since Mr. Sinclair is here, how could I continue to disturb you? I can come back another time."

With that, she tightened the strap of her bag on her shoulder and quickly walked towards the entrance.

She rushed to the door, ready to open it.

"Bang!" A large hand braced against the door.
