Chapter 612: Chapter 611: Reunion (7)

What am I hoping for?

Do I hope to meet him, or do I hope not to?

It’s probably better not to meet him.

"Ding!" The elevator arrived at the twelfth floor.

Bella Acker hesitated before stepping out of the elevator.

The hallway’s sensor lights came on automatically. Bella saw the door number 1201 and stood at the entrance for a while before reaching into her bag for the key.

The door opened, and the foyer was shrouded in gloom, as the curtains were drawn, even the light in the living room was dim.

Damian wasn’t here right now.

Bella Acker breathed a sigh of relief, yet an involuntary sense of loss settled in her heart.

She smiled wryly to herself, didn’t bother changing her shoes, closed the door, and walked in.

Everything in the living room seemed exactly as it was when she left five years ago, even the fruit dish on the coffee table hadn’t been moved, as though no one had visited.

"That girl must have been mistaken, right?" Bella murmured to herself as she walked over, took her bag off and placed it on the ground, then walked to pull open the heavy drapes in front of the living room’s floor-to-ceiling window.

"Swish!"

With the curtains open, the blazing summer sunlight poured in instantly, and everything in the living room became bright and clear.

Bella opened the latch and pushed open the floor-to-ceiling window door, and the sweltering air rushed in like a tidal wave. She stood in the center, directly hit by it. Yet the heat didn’t bother her; instead, it made her feel like this cool apartment was no longer as depressively silent as it had been earlier.

Bella lifted her head for a deep breath before turning around to find a cloth to clean the place up.

But just as she turned, she froze in place.

Damian Sinclair was standing at the bathroom door, a towel wrapped around his waist, his torso bare.

Water still dripped from his head, trickling down his well-defined shoulders, then down over his toned abs, disappearing into the towel tied around his waist.

He too obviously hadn’t expected to see Bella Acker here, but after a brief moment of surprise, his expression darkened, his gaze deep and inscrutable.

Bella was equally frozen on the spot.

Five years apart, and he appeared even more handsome and charismatic, his sharp brows complementing his cold, piercing eyes, exuding authority.

His presence seemed even more powerful and compelling than five years ago, as sharp and fearsome as an unsheathed sword, instantly commanding the room.

Bella’s fingertips trembled unconsciously.

They stood speechless, face to face, until Bella finally spoke first, "Sorry, I came back to get some things. I didn’t know you were here. If I had known, I would have come at a different time."

If she had known he was here, she would have come at a different time?

A cold, unfeeling, mocking smile suddenly tugged at the corners of Damian Sinclair’s mouth, "This is Ms. Acker’s house. I’m the one who should apologize."

Bella Acker felt her heart quiver again, but on the surface, she raised a smile, "I was actually thinking of finding time to discuss this with Mr. Sinclair. This property originally belonged to Mr. Sinclair. Accepting it without merit was not right. Whenever Mr. Sinclair is available, or convenient for your assistant to bring your documents, we can go to the property office to transfer the house back in your name."

"Accepting without merit? Ms. Acker is too modest." Damian Sinclair’s lips curled with a mocking smile, but his eyes remained cold as an abyss, "After all, you shared my bed for several years. I, Damian Sinclair, am not so stingy as to begrudge my lover this much."
