Chapter 603: Chapter 602: The Final Decision (15)
Damian finished speaking and, without leaving through the study door, pushed off the study’s balcony with his hand and jumped down.
"Bro!" Bea was startled and rushed out urgently.
Damian landed steadily and strode towards the outside of the villa.
Bea patted her chest and said, "That scared the life out of me. Turns out when Bro jumps from here, nothing happens to him. Mom’s really silly, fooled by Bro again."
She spoke to herself, then suddenly smiled. She hoped that the relationship between Bella and her brother would finally clear up this time.
Damian exited the villa’s gate, turned to the garage, randomly took a car, and sped out.
The powerful Land Rover roared down the asphalt road, with quite a few vehicles, reaching a speed of 100 km/h.
Damian drove the car at maximum speed while dialing Bella Acker’s number, but the only response was a mechanical female voice.
"Hello, the number you dialed is powered off, please try again later! The..."
Damian frowned, disconnected the call, and looked at the traffic jam ahead, feeling both frustrated and anxious.
During the rush hour, if blocked like this, it could take up to two hours to get through. He wondered how long Bella would be waiting for him at the entrance of Joyland.
For the first time, Damian experienced this burning impatience, glanced in the rearview mirror, decisively turned the steering wheel, and drove against the traffic.
He was stuck on the overpass, and now he was driving against the traffic, planning to get off the overpass first before considering his next move.
As he approached a bending point on the overpass, a taxi suddenly turned and came towards him.
The taxi driver was clearly not expecting anyone to drive against traffic on the overpass, and upon seeing a collision was imminent, immediately swerved.
Damian also hadn’t expected that just as he could get off the overpass, a car would charge at him. He too hit the brakes and turned the steering wheel.
But it was an overpass, and his car was already speeding. As he turned the wheel, it skidded off the overpass directly.
"Bang!!"
With an earth-shattering crash, the robust Land Rover plunged into the green belt beside the overpass, flipping over several times.
Damian gripped the steering wheel tightly, feeling a dizzying whirl. Blood flowed from his broken head, instantly blurring his vision.
His head spun, and all the sounds around him began to fade away.
Damian tried hard to open his eyes, but his eyelids grew heavier.
Bella was still waiting for him...
"Call 120 quickly!"
"Lift the car and save him first!"
The chaotic noise grew more distant, and Damian finally fell into complete darkness.
Bella Acker sat waiting by the flowerbed at Joyland’s entrance. The last time Damian saw her was here; he would find her as long as he came.
But she waited from afternoon till night, then from night till early morning...
Though it was already early summer, the night’s wind was still chilling, freezing even her heart.
Bella, wearing only a long-sleeved shirt, shivered from the cold.
She placed the flowers beside her and rubbed her arms up and down.
With so much time passed, if Damian received the message and intended to come, he would have arrived long ago.
His absence by now clearly indicated his decision.
Bella lowered her gaze and laughed at herself, unwilling to give up, hoping for one last gamble for herself, but she still lost.
Bella lowered her head, speaking softly to herself as her vision in front of her blurred with tears, "Damian, if there are a hundred steps in our relationship, I’ve already taken ninety-nine. My dad is still watching over me from above. I just have no strength left to take the last step. Could you come to me, please?"
