Chapter 88: They needed to pay
It was late. Around one in the morning.
Noah couldn’t sleep even if he wanted to. So, in the room of the hotel he stayed in, he decided to make up his mind. He thought about it a lot. He thought about how far he could go for the happily ever after he wished to give Michael and then he decided he didn’t even need to think too much.
He would definitely go to any lengths.
Since he couldn’t sleep, he stayed up, reminiscing his days with Michael and hoping he wouldn’t starve himself.
A few hours to six, he got off the bed and called Sebastian so they could head out right away.
He had made up his mind.
In the car, Noah sent out a message to Rhaeger to prepare a suit for him. He wanted to meet his father, as well as the elders.
He didn’t state the reason but he made it clear that it was urgent.
He could’ve at least stated where he was or where he had been this whole time but he wasn’t in the mood to talk to anyone about what he had gone through, especially not to Rhaegar.
He sent another message to his father that he would arrive at the family building very soon.
Noah Lenovo, the Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack had officially returned, was the memo he was trying to send across. He was the young master of the Lenovo family and the current CEO of the Lenovo group while his father was still alive and kicking.
In fact, he was simply a puppet who moved according to the leader’s and elders’ will. He was made to follow commands as well as give out commands to those underneath him.
A perfection with no flaws.
A man, an Alpha, and a Son who would never question the decision of those above him.
That was how he had been living his life thus far, and while many saw him as a perfect and well-accomplished young man, they had no idea of the chains that were dug into his back and moving him like he was a puppet, as well as restricting his own movements.
It was because of this that Noah was more than happy for the peace he had found with Michael.
Of course, at first, he was reluctant to be accustomed to this life. Though he had sincerely lost his memories, his ego and pride were still there. They did not allow him to fall for the comfort he was receiving and instead drove him with his survival instincts to do whatever he could to get out of this ordeal somehow.
But all that changed once he had gotten his memories back. Once he got his memories back, it was as if he received something from Michael alongside them.
The warmth that he had refused to let in somehow sipped into his bones and his muscles. This was the reason he did not let Michael know he had recovered his memories in the first place.
He simply decided to stay in this peaceful atmosphere with no one giving him commands he found uncomfortable and gruesome.
He only planned to stay for a while... For a few more days. But those few more days turned into a few more weeks and then months... He had gotten too used to the way he was living and had grown soft.
What had grown even softer was his heart towards the human he was cohabiting with.
The lazy human who always had a trick or two to play on him every now and then.
The human who found his laughter after a long time.
Noah shot his eyes, his chin resting on his knuckles.
It was because of the warmth he had gotten so used to, the feelings he had developed, and the happiness he had found for the first time in his life that he chose to stay longer. He chose Michael over the life he used to have.
And it was thanks to this he had the resolve to finally break the chains that were pegged into his back. Little by little, he decided to start searching for weaknesses in his father’s hold, as well as the elders.
But before that, he needed to find out who was responsible for the assassination and he had found it out.
What he couldn’t tell was if his loyal subordinate carried out that plan on his father’s orders to ’test’ him or if that was just a selfish plot that brewed out of jealousy.
Whichever it was, it was still a fact that he was harmed in the process.
They needed to pay.
If he hadn’t met broken Michael who was in the same shitty helpless situation as him, what would’ve happened to him?
He couldn’t even think about it.
"How did Michael find out?" A cold question escaped his lips in a low gruff, and he opened his eyes; his pupils turned to gold as he stared into the rearview mirror.
Sebastian, who was behind the wheels, shifted his gaze to the mirror and understood that his master was asking him that question and not simply wondering.
"Do you want me to investigate?" He asked but Noah took a moment to think skeptically before closing his eyes once more and saying.
"No."
They didn’t exactly meet up in a secret place or search their surroundings to see if they were being watched to avoid suspicion, so the people who wanted to counter them would’ve used that as an opportunity to catch him off guard.
He had enemies... Enemies knew of his location and wanted to get him when he had his guard down, but his guard was never down.
Ever since he regained his memories and got in contact with Sebastian, there had been people who had caught wind of his movements and were curious about what he was doing in a place like that.
It didn’t matter. They just needed to bring down the newly appointed and Almighty Alpha of the blue moon pack.
The rogues, especially, were the kind who liked to kidnap dignified werewolves and make trouble just to get attention so they might’ve been the ones behind this.
They probably wanted to get his attention with his little stunt. And as well get back at him for busting up all their activities in the area.
For Michael’s safety, Noah always made sure to patrol the area, and if he saw the rogues getting up to any funny business, he made sure to get rid of their little get-together.
The rogues were dissatisfied but they couldn’t beat him. They were weaker than a full-blooded Alpha who happened to be the richest young man in the country.
So, they watched him and decided to play such petty tricks. They decided to make trouble.
’Hah, but I am very annoyed by this.’ Noah thought. Even if it was the rogue’s form of retaliation, it was clear that they had cost him his happy and peaceful life.
They... Made Michael cry.
Thinking about it, he almost bit his skin off, his eyes flaring dangerously.
No, the rogues didn’t make Michael cry. He was the one responsible.
He should’ve known from the time he decided to keep a lot of secrets and keep stacking secrets that if the truth slipped out of his hold and got to Michael, it would be dire.
It would hurt him.
It would be seen as a betrayal.
At that point. He should’ve already known that he would hurt Michael no matter if it was what he wanted or not.
He knew this but just couldn’t bring it up.
For the first time in his life, he felt like a coward. No, he doesn’t feel like it. He was definitely a coward.
He was a coward because he couldn’t bring himself to tell his lover the truth and lose him.
Love... It was one thing he could never imagine in his life.
To think it was such a blissful feeling that would make him lose his mind completely and disregard everything else in the world.
"Sir, we’ve arrived." Sebastian announced and Noah looked up at his mansion from where he was.
It was the mansion he was gifted when he had his 20th birthday and was considered a genius of a century, even for werewolves.
He had been a puppet, but of course, he had been a very resourceful and intelligent puppet. It was even more so when he weighed his disadvantages and advantages if he were ever to go against his father and the elders.
But he never entertained such thoughts because according to them, this was for his own good. A training that would sharpen his heart, soul, and body into the perfect being.
Noah suddenly scoffed in retaliation for those words. He felt amused and, at the same time, disgusted.
He couldn’t believe he used to believe that piece of crap.
Now that he had been freed from them for a long time and had taken his time to analyze what they had done to him and the words they used to say to him, he could say that he had been well brainwashed from a young age.
It was a job well done.
He had Michael to thank for opening his eyes.
It didn’t take long to get ready, and Noah, with his fine customized deluxe suit, golden Rolex watch, and his hair neatly slicked to the back, looked like he had once again regained his image of the past.
He looked perfect.
Noah stood before the elders who were waiting to hear why he had called for them out of the blue on such a festive and cold day. They expected an explanation as to what he had been up to over the months he was away and, of course, an apology for delaying his return, no matter the circumstance he found himself in.
But to their surprise, the words Noah said were filled with confidence and firmness with an unyielding gaze like he did not care what they would say concerning this matter.
"I called you all here to announce that I plan to get married soon. And I... Have found my female."
