Chapter 134: That’s precisely what every rogue wants

"But what if what I’m saying is true?" Michael asked. "What if Rhaeger is just using you to take out Noah and then plans to take you out afterwards? He’s already backstabbing his Alpha, what will stop him from backstabbing a few rogues? The ones who are making trouble and have killed their Alpha?"

Michael’s words hit hard and the Rogues began to think about it. They did think it was weird but... Had they been played?

It was not easy to fool a rogue who had trust issues, but when you bring up a common enemy, they don’t end up using their brain and start thinking with their killing instinct.

They just wanted to get things over with and do away with Noah, without even asking themselves what would happen afterwards.

Of course, they did think that if Rhaeger tried to betray them afterwards, they would deal with him.

But what if Rhaeger had an elaborate plan and decided to get rid of them after they helped him take out Noah?

He would tag them as the evil ones and of course, the entire pack would then be out for their lives.

He promised them that he would take care of the aftermath, but what if this was the ’take care of’ he was referring to?

"Just think about it." Michael said. "Why would he let you live to tell the tale of your corporation? He’d definitely try to take you out so that you can never disclose the fact that he had set the stage."

"Shut up!" The leader groaned but Michael kept going.

"He’ll solidify the notion that rogues are violent criminals with this."

"I said shut up!" The leader roared, sending a huge shock wave and shaking the building a bit.

Michael fell silent and watched him grit in agony. If he had led his men into a trap, then he was a fool.

How could he not see this?

"You can’t just listen to what this bitch is saying." Ramon said and the leader raised his head. "He’s just trying to get out of this mess."

"But is there anything wrong with what he’s saying?" The leader asked. "Ah, he makes so much sense. The point of view of an outsider in this matter has opened my eyes."

"Boss."

"I might not have been able to see the true colors of the one we’re working with." The leader said, dragging his face with his hand. "Ah, how ironic that I can only think clearly now. It’s as if I’ve been in some kind of spell all this while."

Michael listened and watched this. It looked like the leader was finally seeing things clearly from not just one perspective anymore.

"What is your aim?" Michael asked and they turned to him. "Are you trying to change the rules of the blue moon pack? Are you trying to take down those who are abusing their power?"

"That’s precisely what every rogue wants. Freedom." Marco said.

"And you thought bringing Noah down, despite him being a puppet Alpha, would bring about that freedom?"

"The Alpha is the core of the pack." Ramon said. "Puppet or not, his mere existence binds them together and makes them stronger."

"If we shake the core, then we can bring down the pack." The leader explained and Michael grinned.

"What’s with that grin?" Ramon asked, pissed. "What are you plotting?"

"Didn’t you find it strange that Noah had a female that the rest of the pack did not know of?" Michael asked.

"What’s that? They don’t know?"

"I don’t know how Rhaeger found out about me but he did, and he decided to use that to his advantage. The rules of the Blue Moon Pack state that the Elders pick out the Female for the Alpha. There is no such thing as love and affection from the Alpha either. The females are simply breeding machines." He explained.

"So, are ya saying ya some sort of secret lover to the Alpha? The one the elders didn’t approve of? You’re saying he... Broke the law? That Alpha?" The leader asked and Michael nodded.

"Yes. And I’m the reason Noah was able to break free from the brainwashing and has waged war against the Elders."

"What?!" They all exclaimed in shock.

"Noah... Wants to change the rules that have been set just so he can keep me safe." He just admitted that he was very valuable to them as a hostage but that was part of his plan. "While it’s true that I am the greatest advantage you have against Noah, I think you’re doing the wrong thing."

"What did you say?"

Michael decided to be fearless and bold, say the words that, even though they would hurt, would get him out of there in one piece.

"Why will you go against the very person who can be on your side and fight with you?" Michael asked, causing them to squint their eyes in suspicion. "Noah is doing the same thing you’re all after. And while it might be late for him to redeem himself for all those rogues he had wronged, he is at least taking action now. You might not be the reason he’s doing so but it’s the same thing."

"He’s still at the wrong."

"That’s only because he had been brainwashed from birth." Michael chipped in, giving them no room to look at things from another direction. "But now that he’s broken out of the brainwashing and has seen the wrongs of the elders and the pack, he wants to make things right. What Noah needs right now are not enemies that will make his fight difficult, but allies that will make things easier. What do you think? Would you rather destroy the greatest force that can help you change the tides of the war you intend to fight, or would you get on the same boat with them? It’s your call."

After Michael’s words, they all fell silent, thinking deeply. They thought deeply and hard, making sense of everything he had said.

The one who could not be trusted was Rhaeger, who literally had nothing to lose, but more to gain from this incident.

For Michael, he had everything to lose, yet he did not hesitate to speak his mind, despite the fear of angering them. He was likely telling the truth.

"Pull him up." The leader said, and Ramon finally raised the chair with Michael, which had been lying on the side for a while.

Michael sighed in relief since this was a more comfortable position.

"It’s not over yet." Ramon said. "How do we know you’re not simply trying to deceive us for your own safety and then betray us afterwards?"

"Please, have I done anything that makes me seem less trustworthy and deceitful?" Michael asked. "I’ve only said my mind this far and have not tried to beat around the bush. So, your best bet is believing me over that two faced bastard who can’t be trusted."

"As if you can be trusted." Ramon spat out hatefully but something told Michael that he didn’t mean that.

He was just feeling bitter that it took a ’female’ to actually open his eyes to see the truth.

"If what ya saying is true then I see no reason to use ya anymore." The leader said.

"No, you still need me." Michael said.

"Are ya scared that we’ll kill ya after I said you are of no use anymore?" The leader asked, cackling but Michael shook his head.

"No, that wouldn’t be wise. You’d just be declaring war with Noah. The reason why I said you still need me is not because I’m scared of that, but it’s because we need to lure Rhaeger, who is probably planning to get rid of you, out here." Michael explained.

They stared at him silently.

"So, you want us to go along with the ’plan’ and lure Noah here?" He asked and Michael nodded.

Rhaeger will definitely follow and with him, a secret troupe from the pack that needs to ensure Noah’s safety but he won’t let them get too close until he has confirmed that Noah is dead.

"At that time, he would raise an alarm saying something like ’Rogues have killed Alpha Noah. Get every single one of them. Do not spare them.’ I’m sure of it."

"Such a great impersonation." One of the rogues said.

"Thanks. I watch a lot of movies." Michael said.

"Hm, but how do ya plan to contain ya lover?" The leader asked.

"As for that, you’ll have to let him come close to me before you get near. Then, I will whisper the plan to him." Michael said.

It was a very good idea but they still felt uneasy. Their here for people in power was still there so they could not blindly trust him.

If this happened to be a trap in a trap then they would be done for.

"I’m still having a hard time believing you." Marco said, scratching the back of his head.

"Yeah, me too." The others followed. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

"Then, what do I have to say for you to believe me?" Michael asked. "What proof do you need?"

"Maybe someone like me should be enough proof." The sound of Doctor Ro’s lazy voice caught their attention and they turned around to find him standing at the side.

"Doctor Ro?"

Just when did he get there?

He sighed, seeing himself in such a tiring situation and asked,

"If I vouch for the guy, will you believe it?"
