Chapter 121: You’re so stubborn

Waking up to a morning without Noah hit more than it should’ve. Michael opened his eyes to the rays of light seeping into his room through the blinds and then his eyes rounded the room.

Everything was as it was. Nothing looked different.

Then, could he assume that the previous day was nothing but a dream? A nightmare?

He disregarded the soggy feeling in his eyes from crying himself to sleep and turned around but Noah wasn’t there.

He lay on the bed, his eyes on the ceiling as he wondered if Noah had gone to make breakfast. Probably fried eggs again.

He just needed to wait there and Noah would come in and wake him up with a kiss.

Yeah, so he could just close his eyes for the moment and sleep until Noah came to wake him up.

He closed his eyes and fell asleep but the next moment he woke up, it was already past noon.

Noah did not come to wake him up with a kiss.

So, that meant it wasn’t a dream, right? This was reality, and the feelings in his eyes, as well as in his heart, were all real.

He was alone.

But he couldn’t even cry anymore because he felt he had no more tears to shed. His eyes were as dry as a desert.

He slowly sat up, staring at the floor.

"I need to eat something." He said to himself but he didn’t feel like getting up. He didn’t want to stand or walk.

He was too lazy and too heartbroken to do anything.

He said he would wait and stay strong, but the beginning process was already this hard, and he would need time to adjust.

He just... He shoved his fingers through his hair... Wanted his Noah back.

After contemplating how to get on his feet for more than five minutes, he finally dropped his feet on the floor and stood up, staggering a bit like someone who was tipsy but soon regained his balance and headed towards the door.

This should’ve been how he felt so many months ago when he gave up on life but Noah... Noah didn’t even let him sob for his sorry life.

It was comical. Right now, he wasn’t even sobbing about his sorry life but was just sobbing that his other half was gone, only to reunite in the unknown future.

’I can’t even drink because I’m carrying a child.’ Michael thought, his feet heavy on the ground with each step he took. ’What can I do now that I’m depressed? I don’t even have anyone to talk to about it.’

But as he walked towards the living room, he found a rather familiar scene and a kitchen that had been so distorted, as well as filled with smoke, that calling the firefighters wouldn’t be an understatement.

Just... Just what was going on here?

"I told you to stay back! Why are you such a pest?!" He heard Alyssa’s voice inside the smoke.

"I’m not a pest, I’m a rogue. And a doctor." That lazy and ’I have no care in the world’ tone. That was Doctor Ro’s voice.

"Whatever. You’re the reason this happened. We have to clear this before Mister Michael gets out of his room."

So, were those two using his kitchen however they liked? But above that, what the hell were they doing in his home without his permission?

They soon emerged from the smoke, coughing and still arguing.

"You’re so stubborn."

"I believe I should be the one saying that." Doctor Ro said, nonchalantly dusting the smoke off his sleeves. "You wouldn’t listen no matter how much I told you that adding more eggs won’t help anything."

"But I was simply following the recipe and it clearly said that adding egg would..." She paused, trying to recall what the recipe said but couldn’t.

She shoved her fingers through her hair in frustration.

"Gahhh! This is why you should’ve just let me do what I was doing in peace. Why meddle when you don’t even care?"

Michael took a seat, watching the show without any intention of interrupting.

These two... he knew very well that their characters didn’t match and it would always be chaotic if they were together, but he didn’t know it would be this bad.

Would their travels be safe like this?

"I’m a doctor." Doctor Ro said. "And I’m getting paid pretty good money to be here so I can’t have you killing my patient with that concoction of yours before I’m able to work up enough money to buy an island." He plainly said but those plain words shot arrows at Alyssa’s heart.

Were her skills that bad?

She turned around to look at the black kitchen. Good thing she had begun to ventilate the kitchen but... She didn’t think cooking or frying something as simple as eggs would be that hard.

She never cooked for herself, not because she was entitled or anything like that. The place she used to stay was like a dorm for the talented under Sebastian. There weren’t a lot of them, but they were treated as if they were in the barracks, and most things were done for them so that they could focus on physical and intellectual training.

She was at the level of a top notice secretary and High-level bodyguard, but those were the only things she was good at. She has no culinary skills whatsoever.

"So, are you trying to say you’re better than me?" Alyssa asked, clearly nitpicking and Doctor Ro looked at her, giving her pitiful look a long glance, and then said,

"Yes."

He did not try to sugarcoat his words or try to make her feel better. That was not his job, after all. Besides, she needed the hard truth to shut up.

But it wasn’t like telling her he was better than her would make her accept reality.

"Hey, how are you better than me?!" She flared at him.

Just like that. She would rather argue it out than accept his words.

"Are you two done?" Michael finally interrupted them and they paused, turning around to find him sitting in front of them.

How long had he been there? 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

"If you’re done," Michael forced out a smile, a menacing one. "Can someone explain to me what’s going on here?"
