Chapter 122: Sir, the pizza’s here

"Hm, so you’re saying you two were stationed with me already?" Michael asked after hearing Alyssa’s explanation, and she nodded her head vigorously. "And from this point, we’re supposed to live together?" Once again, she nodded.

Michael sighed.

He knew he asked them to assign Doctor Ro to him to monitor his condition and then got Alyssa as a bonus, but wasn’t that supposed to be when they were about to leave?

If he had to put up with them already before they even left the country, would he age a couple of years in a few days? They were like two different peas fighting for the ownership of one pod.

Ridiculous, honestly.

"Hey, doc," Michael called and Ro raised his head. "Shouldn’t you be like, I don’t know, packing up in your house? Why are you here so early?"

"That’s cause there’s nothing to pack." Doctor Ro said. "I can’t really make my identity obvious so they got generous and tried to change things about me a bit."

"Hm," Michael examined how they had shaved off the rough sprouting beards and nodded. Even his hair, which looked like a mess just the previous day, seemed washed and trimmed. "I see."

Did they do all that this morning before coming here?

"Besides, I wasn’t informed when we’ll have to leave so I came here early. Seems I’m not too early since I saw that shorty at the door, contemplating if to open the door or not." He said and Alyssa’s eyebrows furrowed.

"Hey!"

How dare he call her a shorty?!

"Don’t just get mad at the truth." Doctor Ro said, sticking a cigarette butt in his mouth, but he didn’t light it up.

Since he couldn’t smoke indoors, he could at least put it in his mouth, right?

Alyssa was red in anger. Just why was he so bitter and rude and offensive?

If only she had an excuse to knock a punch at him.

"Now, now, no fighting." Michael said and then the doorbell rang. He ordered delivery since the kitchen was currently out of commission.

"I’ll get it." Alyssa said and headed for the door.

She took the large box of pizza from the delivery man, as well as the large coke, shutting the door afterward.

"Sir, the pizza’s here." Alyssa announced, walking in with it.

"Yeah, put it on the table. Thanks."

Michael didn’t even want to think of the future turmoils that would happen in their midst thanks to those two, but so long they don’t get into an actual fight and aim for each other’s throat with killing intent, then it should be fine.

"I’m serious, you two shouldn’t get into fights." Michael warned them one more time, just to be safe. "You might be enemies before you started working for or with me but now that you both have a common goal, which is protecting me, you should put your differences aside and focus on your main objective."

Alyssa twisted her lips, feeling like she was a disappointment but Michael didn’t want her to feel that way.

He wasn’t reprimanding them because he saw them as disappointments, especially Alyssa. He simply didn’t want an incident where they would start a fight and one of them gets severely wounded, straining their already distant relationship even more.

One wouldn’t be comfortable living under the roof of someone who nearly tried to kill them, right? And if care wasn’t taken, they would try to get back at the other and cause even more problems.

So, best not to start it.

"You two can, of course, argue. I’m not stopping you from stating your opinion about the other person, but if you feel it’s about to lead to a fight, at least one of you should walk away and ignore what the other is saying." Michael added, his eyes falling on Doctor Ro. "I look forward to your maturity, Doc."

Yeah, he was going to expect the walking away to be done by Doctor Ro. Doctor Ro didn’t exactly want to pick a fight but was simply stating his honest opinion with no filters in his tongue and that could escalate into a fight.

He could also prevent that fight but keeping his mouth shut and walking the other way, ignoring what else Alyssa had to say.

"I’ll try, Sir." Alyssa said. "I’ll also try to be the bigger person." She said with so much determination but then Doctor Ro just had to chip in,

"You’re going to be trying verrry hard if you’re going to be the ’bigger’ person." This doctor was being so rudely sarcastic that one wouldn’t blame Alyssa for getting so pissed to the point that she threw her fist first before using her words.

Alyssa’s fists trembled as she glared at him. Was he honestly looking for a fight? She wanted to punch him. Just once, and wipe off that indifferent and lazy expression from his face.

Michael noticed how Alyssa was trying to control herself even when Doctor Ro had made such a rude remark towards her.

Well, she was trying and very dedicated.

Maybe the one he should worry about more should be Doctor Ro and not her.

He sighed, taking one more Alice of pizza and watching as they silently fought with their eyes but Doctor Ro lost interest and looked away, turning to Michael.

"I think it’s about time I call my account number." He said, reminding Michael that he had yet to pay him his triple amount?

"Oh, right."

"What are you talking about?" Alyssa asked, frowning at him. "Boss already gave you the money, didn’t he?"

"And what are you talking about?" Doctor Ro asked in return, refusing to admit it. "That money was a sort of protection fee, not the money I had agreed on with this man. He already said he would pay me so why would your boss pay me as well?"

He was sky and smart and... A cunning thief.

Alyssa wanted to punch this money grubber.

"You..."

"It’s alright, Alyssa." Michael said to her and then turned to Doctor Ro. "If the amount paid was similar to the amount I’m meant to pay you, then can I guess that was a down payment for your service towards me?"
