Chapter 102: The doctor is a rogue

Sebastian made an appointment with a doctor that didn’t belong to the pack. A rogue doctor. The reason was they couldn’t afford to tip the elders about what they were up to.

And also because of that, Noah couldn’t go with Michael for the appointment. He’d have to go alone.

"What do you mean he has to go alone?" Noah asked.

He wasn’t going to hear of it. Sebastian wanted him to let Michael visit a rogue doctor alone? A rogue?

Did he realize how dangerous they were? They played such dirty tricks that so many werewolves were harmed rather than helped.

"Couldn’t you find another doctor? Someone who isn’t a rogue?" Noah asked.

"I wish I could, sir. But the stakes of another doctor helping without first confirming your female’s affiliation to their pack would be very low."

"So, it’s not impossible." Noah said, feeling a little bit of hope but Sebastian dashed those hopes as he said,

"It’s impossible."

He didn’t even try to sugarcoat his words. He felt the hard truth needed to be said to come to a more rational decision.

Noah gritted his teeth. There was no way they could go through with this.

It would’ve been a different story if he could go with Michael but he couldn’t. His face was literally plastered everywhere, so everyone knew of his identity.

And even if he wore a mask, he had the presence of an Alpha, so they might even consider harming Michael instead at the expense of their own lives, just to cause Noah to regret.

Rogues weren’t exactly fond of Alphas, especially that of other packs so they would try to fight them with whatever they could.

"Then, should I get an appointment with a Lycan doctor instead?" Sebastian asked and Noah’s eyes burned in fury.

"You will do no such thing."

Rogues were one thing they could speak of, but Lycans...? Just what was Sebastian thinking of?

Michael simply watched them as they bickered or was it chattered? In any case, he was bored.

Him being pregnant was such a hard truth to believe, so unless he saw the scan and a doctor’s report, he couldn’t believe it.

So, he occupied his mind with the entertainment in front of him.

’How does Sebastian have those contacts anyway?’ he thought as he ate from the bag of chips in his hand.

It made such a crunching sound that it attracted their attention and they turned to him. He paused for a minute and then swallowed, smiling awkwardly.

"Oh, don’t mind me. Carry on." He said and dipped his hand in the bag of chips once more but they kept their gaze on him for a while before Noah sighed.

"I can’t entrust Michael to such dangerous people." He said and Sebastian nodded.

"I understand your concern, sir. But most of the rogue doctors don’t care about their patient’s background, whether they’re affiliated with someone powerful or not. So long the price for their service is paid, they won’t do anything else. All they need is money." Sebastian explained.

There were a lot of people like that. People who would do anything for money, even sell out their own skills to the enemy.

Noah knew this but he couldn’t help but worry. After all, he couldn’t feel at ease sending Michael alone to a place like that.

A place where he could be easily overpowered and killed.

"Then, to make things easier," Sebastian said, sensing his master’s worries. "Why don’t I send an escort to go along with him?"

"An escort?" Noah raised an eyebrow and so did Michael.

"Yes, someone trustworthy under my care. She’ll be able to protect your female in case of an emergency and care for his needs in place of you."

It was a good suggestion.

Michael didn’t think it was a bad idea. It was actually a good idea. That way, no one would ever know he was connected to Noah and he’d be safe. That is if the person was as good as Sebastian said.

And it seemed like it was going to be a woman.

"I accept." Michael quickly said and Noah looked at him, surprised. "There’s no use delaying any longer because you’re worried about me. If I go with someone else, they’ll never know that I’m related to you in any way." He got up. "I’ll be safe."

"But..." Michael pressed his finger over Noah’s lips.

"No more buts. Let’s just get it over with." Michael said and the. Noah licked his finger, sucking it in and Michael’s face flushed.

He didn’t need to do that.

"I understand." Noah said as Michael pulled his finger out of his mouth. "But I won’t be at ease until you return so I’ll wait here. Michael, you have to be careful."

"You don’t have to worry about that. I’ll be extra careful."

After all, it wasn’t just his life he had to be mindful of. That is if it turned out positive.

Did he want it to turn out positive? He wasn’t entirely against it and even though the concept scared him, he wanted to at least think positively.

This... Could be a blessing in disguise. One never knew.

"Then I’ll contact her right away."

They had talked for a while and so they were late for the appointment schedule. They’d simply have to pay extra for missing the appointed time.

"Are you sure you’ll be fine?" Noah asked, brushing his hand over Michael’s head and then cupping his face.

"I’m not that much of a weakling." Michael said but this caused Noah to dart his eyes says and clear his throat.

He didn’t know about that.

Michael was pretty much weak, to his knowledge.

"What? Are you doubting me?" Michael asked, squinting his eyes at Noah but Noah shook his head and laughed.

"Just be careful, Michael." He said and kissed his lips. "I’ll wait here for you so hurry back."

"Um. I don’t know if to say I’ll be back with good news or bad news because I don’t know which is good or bad." He said and laughed but his laughter slowly died down as he added. "I’m still shocked, Noah. Is this... Going to be fine?"
