Chapter 103: Is she a werewolf?
"I’m still shocked, Noah. Is this... Going to be fine?" Michael asked and Noah sighed, pressing his lips on Michael’s forehead.
"Even if it doesn’t look fine. I’ll make it fine." He said. "I’ll solve my problems too so you don’t have to be scared anymore. I’ll make it so you don’t have to be alone, Michael. I..."
"Okay, stop. I understand what you’re trying to say." Michael said after interrupting him. "And I believe you’ll do your best so don’t worry. I’ll wait, even if waiting might be painful." He said, solemnly but then smiled brightly as he added, "Did I ever tell you waiting was my strong suit?"
But Noah did not respond to him and simply pulled him into his arms, embracing him tightly.
Whether it was his strong suit or not, it didn’t change the fact that waiting was a painful thing to do, and having expectations was even worse.
"Hey, hey, you’re going to squash me." Michael said but Noah did not let go. Michael gave up trying to get out of his arms and instead, hugged him back.
This was really their last day together. No matter how it looked at it, this was the warmest parting he had ever experienced, and it did not give him that much heartache.
He found himself doing better than he imagined.
Maybe it was because he wasn’t thinking of this as their goodbye.
’What am I even thinking? I’ll still find him once I get back from seeing the doctor.’ Michael thought. ’I have to tell him the news in person, after all.’
"Alpha Noah," Sebastian called as he knocked on the door before opening it, walking in with someone behind him. "She’s here."
He stepped aside and revealed the young petite lady that had stood behind him.
"It’s an honor to meet you, Alpha Noah." She bowed her head, her right hand on her chest and her left hand behind her back. "My name is Alyssa."
Michael looked at the lady in a suit with pants and white sneakers, a weird combination, and blinked twice before turning to Noah with his question.
"Is she a werewolf?"
Noah looked at Michael and then nodded, but Michael had his reason for asking.
Why was she so small?
"How... How old are you?" Michael asked.
"26." She answered, her head still bowed.
So, she was almost the same age as Noah. But why was she so small?
It wasn’t that she was that short. She was around his height; no, he was a bit taller than her, but since she was a werewolf, he expected her to be more... You know, bigger. How could she be strong with a body like that?
’I’m afraid I’ll sound rude if I voice my thoughts.’ Michael thought as he twisted his lips. ’But if I don’t get answers, I won’t know. It feels like I’ll be the one doing the protecting and not the other way around.’
"Your thoughts are spewing out from your face, Michael." Noah said and Michael flinched, turning to him in surprise.
"They are? Don’t tease me."
"But it’s true." Noah said, laughing lightly.
"Then what was I thinking of?" Michael asked, squinting his eyes to size Noah’s lie.
"You were wondering if Alyssa will be able to protect you, right?" He asked and Michael blinked, surprised.
He was right. Ah, how did he know?
"I told you, your thoughts are spewing from your face." He smiled, patting Michael’s head and Michael covered his face, embarrassed.
He hoped she didn’t think he was rude or anything. He peeked at her through the space between his fingers, but the expression he found on her face was that of shock rather than offended.
She was looking at Noah like she had seen something completely unexpected.
To Alyssa, who had only ever watched the mighty Alpha from afar and heard about his personality from others, she was beyond surprised to find him smiling and laughing at this man who was his female.
Her superior, Sebastian, had filled her in on the details and how much Alpha Noah cherished his female but she could not bring herself to believe it since that went against the conduct of an Alpha.
But seeing it now... It felt even more unreal.
"Alyssa is definitely strong despite her appearance." Noah said to Michael and Alyssa snapped out of her shocked state so as not to offend the Alpha or his female.
"How can you tell?" Michael asked.
"It’s through my Alpha senses." Noah said. Something that Michael could never understand. "And because of this, I feel a little bit relieved."
"Just a little? I thought you said she was strong." Michael asked, turned around to head to the couch as he was tired of standing.
Noah followed him and said, "Being strong doesn’t mean everything will be fine. She can protect you but what if the unexpected happens and you’re both taken by surprise? That’s why I can’t seem to relax."
He had that worried expression on his face again. Michael twisted his lips while looking at his worried look and thought,
’I definitely like him better when he doesn’t worry like this. But...’ he shrugged his shoulders. ’I also like him when he worries. Jeez, I can’t help it. He just looks handsome no matter what he does.’
Noah watched Michael’s reaction and sighed.
He was thinking of something else at that moment. Why was his mind so quick to roam off track? He was talking about how he worried about his safety yet Michael was busy thinking about how handsome he was.
Noah could tell that much from how Michael looked at him.
’Well, I guess worrying needlessly wouldn’t be good for him and the baby.’ Noah subconsciously thought and then paused.
Had he just thought of the baby?
Seriously, there was no concrete evidence that he was indeed pregnant so why was he having such thoughts?
"Alpha Noah," Sebastian called and they both turned towards him. "I believe he should get going now."
As soon as Sebastian said that, Alyssa took it as her cue to make her vow.
"I... I promise to protect your female no matter what, even if it means putting my life on the line. I will bring him back in one piece." She vowed pretty loudly, too.
Michael got up and walked towards her.
"Alyssa, was it?" He asked and she nodded.
"Yes, sir."
"Then, let me introduce myself first. My name is Michael. So you don’t have to refer to me as Noah’s female or ’the female’ when you’re trying to address me. It makes me... Uncomfortable."
"Ah," realizing her mistake, she quickly bowed her head and apologized. "I apologize, Mister Michael. I’ll refer you like this from now on."
