Chapter 541: Chapter 541 – 3 doors.
[You have entered the trial door {1}.]
[You will be unable to leave until you complete, fail or surrender the trial.]
(Welp, let’s see how things are here.) – thought Phantasia as he wandered through the long corridor... Before then finally arriving at the main trial room while the pathway behind him closed shut.
"..."
(It’s empty.) – thought Phantasia as he found himself in the massive spacious room.
(So is the enemy going to spawn or-)
Right in the next moment, the area around Phantasia started warping, straight up transforming the entire room into a massive ancient market place.
[Trial room {1}.]
[Mission]
[Misunderstanding.]
[Ease the worries of the citizens by resolving trouble with your words.]
[Goal: Raech the 80% satisfaction]
(Huh... So, no fighting?) – thought Phantasia as he hid his claws.
(... So, I’m to somewhat calm down people or stuff? Resolve the misunderstanding?) – thought Phantasia as he expanded the quest details.
(It says here I’m playing the role of the [priest] and I’m the figure of authority within the city....)
(I have also power to call forth guards to my side at any moment to deal with criminals... So from I’m getting here at I’m something like a police officer who is also a judge, based on the info here.)
"..."
"By the looks of things, yeah."
(A quest that doesn’t revolves around combat... Huh, when was the last time I’ve gotten one like this?)
(Anyway, it seems I’m in some kind of market place right now? Is this the only "area" I will be allowed to operate?)
(Anyway, I just walk around, look for trouble and then help out in resolving them?) – thought Phantasia as he started exploring the market.
"YOU SHAMELESS SCAMER!" – shouted somebody in distance.
(Oh, already trouble?) – thought Phantasia as he headed towards the source of commotion and finding two men arguing with each other, a merchant and a costumer.
"You said these pots were durable! But they just broke day after being used!" – said pissed off costumer.
"How dare you?! You just smashed these to pieces so you can pretend to be victim!" – shouted the merchant.
"OH! YOU LYING PIECE OF-"
"Hey! What is going on here?!" – shouted Phantasia as he stepped between the two.
"!"
"Priest!" – said the flustered costumer.
"What is the meaning behind this commotion? Explain yourself."
"!"
"Priest! This man dares to sell me faulty products and refuses to take responsibility!" – said the costumer.
"Lies! You smashed the pots yourself so you can make me look bad!" – said the merchant.
"Why the hell I would do that?! I never met you before!" – said pissed off costumer as both sides started screaming at each other.
"Enough!" – said Phantasia.
"You."
"Costumer."
"First."
"What is your complain?"
"This!" – said the costumer as he shown the partially shattered clay pots.
"I’ve been using these for a less than a day to carry around water, but then out of nowhere they shattered!"
"I’ve bough them here yesterday! See! They have even same design as the ones he is selling!"
"..."
"Is it true that you sold this man the pots?" – asked Phantasia as he turned towards the merchant.
"Y-yes, I did. But my pots are well made! He must had just smashed his!" – said the merchant as he took out one of the pots and put it on the table.
"See for yourself!" – said the merchant as Phantasia then began inspecting the pot, tapping on it and what not... But not seeing any form of slightest cracks forming.
"Seems like a well-made pot." – said Phantasia.
"See?!" – said the merchant as he laughed in the costumer face.
"Your lies won’t work-"
"Then let me see the other pots you are selling and let me choose the ones I want to inspect." – said Phantasia as he cut off the merchant.
"E-eh?" – the merchant looked confused.
"Just having one good pot isn’t enough to make it a proof." – said Phantasia.
"I want to inspect your other pots to make sure they are also quality works."
"Em... Okay?" – said the merchant as he took out the next pot and put it on the table.
"..."
"Hey." – said Phantasia.
"I said that I want to choose."
"I don’t want to inspect this pot."
"?!"
"But sir! This is-"
"No ’sir’. I’m trying to prove your innocents." – said Phantasia.
"Or are you trying to hide something?"
"This is order. Show me all of your pots." – said Phantasia as the merchant was left with no choice but to show all of his products.... And it didn’t truly took long for Phantasia to find many faulty products.
"..."
"What is the meaning of this?" – asked Phantasia as with barely any effort, the pot he was inspecting ended up shattering with ease.
"This isn’t just a different in quality, this pot itself cannot be used for anything in the first place."
"I’M SORRY!" – shouted the merchant as he instantly knelled on the ground and placed his head against the ground.
(Dogenza?!) – thought Phantasia.
"I know this is shameless of me! But please! Don’t punish me! I had no choice!" – said the merchant as he started crying.
"My family is starving! And I didn’t had enough materials to make perfect pots! So, I had to sell these faulty products in order to quickly gather up enough funds for my family!"
"Please! I beg you! Show mercy!"
"..."
"Raise your head." – said Phantasia with gentle voice.
"!"
The merchant slowly lifted up his head.
"Stand up." - said Phantasia.
"Y-yes!" – said the merchant as he fallowed Phantasia instruction.
"..."
"You said your family is starving." – said Phantasia.
"Y-yes... This is the reason-"
"Then why are you not?" – asked Phantasia as he was looking direct at the man’s body, realizing his somewhat fat belly.
"Eh?" – the color was instantly drained from the merchant’s face.
"If your family is truly starving, then why are not starving too? Why is your body well fed if not straight up fat?" – said Phantasia.
"Your body is way too well maintained to be called starving in any possible way."
"You lied to me."
"You lied to me twice."
"GUARDS!" – shouted Phantasia as the pair of golden armored beastman guards wearing an animalistic helmets appeared.
"Arrest that man!" – said Phantasia as the merchant tried running away, but was instantly caught by the two golden guards.
"He dares the sell faulty products fully knowingly and dares to spit lies about starving family when his first lie was exposed."
"The man knows nothing but to lie and for that he will have to receive punishment!"
"Take him away!" – shouted Phantasia as the two guards took away the merchant as he begged for forgiveness.
(So that is my job, huh?) – thought Phantasia.
<<Resolving incidents, finding out who is guilty, calming down misunderstandings and what not.>>
<<Simple put, this was a mentally draining job.>>
<<Some jobs were easy to do, while some were tricky ones that I could easily fail.>>
<<However, I didn’t rushed it and took my time.>>
<<It did took me freaking hours... But I managed to finish this test.>>
[You have completed the trial door {1}.]
[Finaly results.]
[Satisfaction level: 100%]
[You have passed the test {1}.]
[You have completed {1/3} tests.]
[Congratulation.]
"Huh. Perfect score?" – said Phantasia as the space around him returned to normal and the pathway behind opened up.
[Information.]
[You are allowed to log out from the game in order to rest. The test progression level will not reset, but if more than 24 real world hours passes after logging out, your progress will be reset.]
[And while you are logged out, any other player can take on the trials.]
"Ah.... Huh..."
(So it is telling me that I should take a break?)
"..."
(Honestly I should.)
(I’ve been logged in for far too long.)
<<After completing the first trial, I’ve logged off.>>
<<But not before giving command to my monsters.>>
<<Protect the entrance leading to this temple and slaughter anybody who dares to enter this place.>>
<<Normally monsters to disappear after the players log out, but there are several expecting for this rule.>>
<<For example tamed monsters, which my created and special undeads count for.>>
<<Golems, chimeras and what not can be left to guard this place while I’m logged off.>>
<<And that is what I did.>>
<<I logged off, ate something, took a quick nap, before then logging in few hours later.>>
<<...>>
<<And things weren’t looking nice from get go.>>
<<Several of my monsters has been reported to had been slain after I logged back in.>>
<<Somebody is fighting my monsters.>>
<<Somebody strong.>>
<<It doesn’t look like I still lost most of my monsters... But still, somebody must had attacked them directly.>>
<<Players.>>
<<Well, it is obvious.>>
<<I now have my freaking army on standby outside, straight up having them defend this place, which could be equal of holding a massive sign saying "I’m here".>>
<<...>>
<<But who exactly is the attacker?>>
<<That is the problem.>>
<<Maybe some annoying rankers showed up.... Welp, it became a massive pain in the ass.>>
<<Still, I’m here.>>
<<That means I’m allowed to take the two remaining trials.>>
<<I don’t know if I will pass them on the first try or not, but I’ve already prepared a counter measure if I were to fail.>>
<<So yeah.>>
<<Without hesitation I entered the second trial door.>>
