Chapter 542: Chapter 542 – 3 doors – Part 2.

[Trial room {2}.]

[Mission]

[Job assigned.]

[Test description]

[Assing each specific person for the specific quest.]

[Each quest that was completed will increase your score, depending on the difficulty of the quest.]

[Warning: each time you will fail the quest, there will be a penalty.]

(Huh.... So, this time I’m some kind of quest giver?) – thought Phantasia as he found himself in the office.) – thought Phantasia as he was standing in the middle of the empty room, the space around him started changing, before then morphing into some kind of office room.

(....This seems like a second mental draining test....)

(But still, I did played few games where I had to assign jobs to specific characters in order to complete them... I did liked those games... So honestly maybe this test will be fun?)

<<I WAS SO FUCKING WRONG!>>

<<THIS QUEST WAS NO FUN AT ALL!>>

<<IF ANYTHING, IT WAS HELLISH!>>

<<Okay. So, a lot and I mean a LOT was going on.... So I think it is for the best if I just summarize it all instead.>>

<<In short, this quest was hard.>>

<<The quest was divided into waves.>>

<<I would get set amount of quests at random, with all sort of different NPCs during each wave.>>

<<I have a deadline for each quest that I need to complete in set amount of turns.>>

<<There was a lot of different NPCs I was given as a pawns to complete the quests. Each had their strong and weak points, and I had to choose the correct ones.>>

<<And sometimes, just choosing single one person in the team, would result in the freaking disaster.>>

<<It was.... WAY too chaotic.>>

<<To make it worst, there was a lot of characters and limited amount of people too! If I screwed up in one way, I would just waste up every single person I had and nobody would be able to do the quest.>>

<<Not only that, but some quests requires either strong people or number of people, quantity or quality, and I needed to figure out which would be better.>>

<<I won’t lie.>>

<<I fucked up several times.... And there was one time where I fucked very and I mean VERY big fucking time, to the point it even caused a chain reaction that almost fucked up the entire test.>>

<<This was... Extremely mentally draining quest.... But hey.>>

<<I did it.>>

[You have completed the trial door {2}.]

[Finaly results.]

[171/200 points]

[You have passed the qualification threshold (150).]

[You have passed the test {2}.]

[You have completed {2/3} tests.]

[Congratulation.]

(Fuck me... This was way too freaking hard.) – thought Phantasia as he left the second test room, while being completely pissed off while at the same being extremely stressed out.

(I mean, I thought I was finished the moment those freaking monsters destroyed that tower of worship.)

(I fucked up big time... Like I straight up shitted myself the moment I saw it.)

(Honestly, it was way too freaking close to comfort.)

(I barely passed this test by gestating perfect result in the final quest.)

(But still, this is way too freaking mentality draining.)

(Is this what the quest givers in the fantasy world are like?)

(I mean.... Fuck me.) – thought Phantasia as he sat down.

"?"

"Are you alright?" – asked the priestess.

"Yeah.... I’m.... Just need a moment to recover." – replied Phantasia.

"..."

"Say... Is the third test going to be the same thing? The mentality draining one?"

"I’m sorry, but I cannot tell." – said the priestess.

"Okay..." – said Phantasia.

"..."

(First test was about justice.) – thought Phantasia.

(The second test was about leadership.)

(So I guess this dungeon isn’t about proving your ability to fight and conquer your opponents.)

(But about leading them?)

(That is a complete opposite of the dungeon that Thanatos conquered.)

(Her dungeon was about proving your might.)

(I mean, there are several dungeons out there that have straight up nothing to do with combat.)

(Some were about being smart or some were about gathering answers, straight up doing detective work.)

(I even heard that there was even one where it was like some sort of TV show, a one with parkour and what not.)

(Still... What could be the third be about?)

(Is it going to also test my ability to "lead" the people?)

"..."

(Don’t think... Just rest.) – thought Phantasia as he just sat in place for some time, before then rising up once again.

"Are you ready to take on the third test?" – asked the priestess.

"Yeb. Wish me luck." – said Phantasia as he approached and entered the final test room.

"..."

"Hit me." – said Phantasia as he arrived at the third empty room.

[Trial room {2}.]

[Mission]

[Decision.]

[Test description]

[Sometimes life isn’t simple... And sometimes you need to make tough calls.]

[Make a decision, a one that will be truly correct.]

[Even if it won’t be a good one in nature, even if it is evil, you need to make a correct decision.]

[What is more important.]

[Chose your poison.]

[That is your duty.]

The massive empty room once again changed, this time taking on appearance of an ancient Egyptian throne room.

"My king. Are you ready?" – asked a beastwoman who wore a vail that covered her face, which appeared to be some kind of secretary.

"..."

(So, this time I’m the "king", huh?) – thought Phantasia as he looked around.

[Victory condition.]

[Fulfil both conditions]

>[Make sure that the satisfaction level of the kingdom will reach the minimal threshold.]

>[Make sure that progression level of the kingdom reaches specific minimal threshold.]

(This time there are two conditions that I need to fulfil.)

(So I need to make my people both happy while at the same time making sure that the kingdom is well developed?) – thought Phantasia as he approached the throne, before the sitting in it.

[Gold: 1 000 000]

[Soldiers: 100 000]

(I have some money as well and soldiers... I guess I should use them as well to manage the kingdom?) – thought Phantasia as he was reading through the quest description, bit by bit, making sure he got every single detail, before then turning towards the beastwoman secretary.

"..."

"Yes." – said Phantasia.

"Begin."

"Very well." – said the secretary as in the next moment, the massive stone doors opened up and a man alongside two guards entered the throne room.

"Greetings, your majesty." – said the man who had [merchant] tag floating above his head.

"Thank you for agreeing to my sudden request of a meeting."

"There is no problem, merchant." – replied Phantasia.

"But still, I would like to know what is that you want."

"Yes, of course." – said the merchant as he snapped his fingers, before moments later several crates appeared right next to the merchant, crates filled with countless different fruits.

"Fruits?" – asked Phantasia.

"Yes. My merchant guild is willing to sell your kingdom the finest fruits from throughout the land."

"Is that so?" – asked Phantasia.

"But tell me o merchant, what is so special about your fruits?"

"They come from the distance land, your majesty." – said the merchant.

"From the place you will have hard time getting it from."

"..."

[Current price: 50 000 gold]

(So, the first one is about happiness of people?)

"..."

"Very well, merchant." – said Phantasia.

"You have your deal." – said Phantasia.

[Gold in the vault: 950 000]

As Phantasia finished the negotiation, the merchant alongside his create disappeared.

"..."

"Next." – said Phantasia as the secretary called fourth another person, this time elderly woman.

"Your majesty... Please, I beg you, listen to this humble woman’s request." – said the elderly woman with a cane.

"Our village has been plaguing with cures by the heretics."

"They wish for us to suffer."

"We cannot survive this any longer, we humble request a rescues."

"I beg of you.... We have no chance to survive if you don’t help us."

"I see..." – said Phantasia.

"Tell me old lady, what is the cause of the curse? Who did that to you?"

"The heretics! The ones that dares to defy your rule!"

"But why you?" – asked Phantasia.

"Is there a reason why they would target you?"

"I... I don’t know... These traitors dares to bite the hand that had fed them! They need to be punished!" – replied the furious old lady.

"But you know who they are, don’t you?" – asked Phantasia.

"Yes! Those are the heretics from the neighboring village! I saw them with my own two eyes as they set our crops on fire and spread the curses on out people!" – said the elderly lady.

"Please! Punish them! Save us!"

[Number of soldier required: 500]

[Gold require to recover the village: 100 000]

"Hm... Secretary." – said Phantasia as he turned towards the vailed woman.

"Yes, your majesty?" – asked secretary.

"How long it would take for the curse to be dealt with and for the village as a whole to be restored?" – asked Phantasia.

"It is estimated that it could take us few months to deal with the curse and restoration." – replied secretary.

"Did you confirmed yet how strong afflicting her people are?" – asked Phantasia.

"Yes." – replied the secretary.

(So, I cannot work around, eh?) – thought bit annoyed Phantasia.

"..."

(Still, let’s try something first.)

"Were you the only victims so far, old lady?" – asked Phantasia.

"Yes... So far, we were." – replied the elderly lady.

"..."

"I see." – said Phantasia.

"Secretary."

"Is it possible to move the people of the village to our city?"

"We should be able to do it."

"!?"

"Your majesty! What are you saying?! Are you telling us to abandon our home?!" – asked the confused elderly lady.

"..."

"Then let me ask you this, old lady." – said Phantasia.

"How do we know that your home will be truly safe once we purge the heretics?"

"Are the heretics that we face are the only ones? What if we deal with these ones, but in the next moment the new ones emerges and destroy your home? We need to make sure everything is alright. "

"You may hate me for this, but I want to save your people above everything else."

"But... It is our land! Our home!" – said the elderly lady.

"Land is nothing." – said Phantasia.

"What matters are the people."

"What is the land if there are no people to inhabit it?"

"Do you want to create a village where only gravestones are present?"

"Until we truly know that your home is safe, until we know that the heretics are truly destroyed, then and only then we will have the answer on what to do."

"Now tell me, old lady."

"What do you choose?"

"Do you want to make sure that your people will live?"

"Or do you want your land no matter what?"

"I promise you this."

"If your land is truly safe, then it shall be restored and retrieved for you."

"You have my world."

"But for that to happened you need to trust me."

"And you need to give me time."

"Please."

"..."

"I beg the." – said the elderly lady as she gave her answer after bit of hesitation.

"Save my people."

"...Very well." – said Phantasia.

"Then they shall be saved."
