Chapter 532: Chapter 532 – Flying Island – Part 2.

The massive serpent opened it extremely wide mouth once again, revealing it saw blades which began spinning at the rapid rate, while the giant monster launched itself right at the vampire, forcing her to leap to the side and dodge the massive saw blade filled mouth, which ended up biting and straight up just tearing to shreds all the trees instantly.

"Jezus! I definitely don’t want to get caught by that!" – shouted Thanatos as she counter attacked with her scythe at the passing by body of the monster, securing a direct hit.... Before then getting alarmed as she saw the tail of the creature, a tail equipped with several moving blades.

"OH THAT IS STRAIGHT UP CHAINSAW!" – shouted Thanatos as she barely avoided getting ripped apart by the rotating blades that even cut in half one of the bigger rocks with ease.

"..."

(Stealth with high attack power. Assassin type boss.) – thought Thanatos as she quickly gotten away as the boss monster launched a fallow up attack with its tail.

(Still, it doesn’t really look like it has high defense.) – thought Thanatos as she saw her counter leaving a mark on the boss monster’s body.

<<Fighting this boss monster was... Tricky to say the least.>>

<<It didn’t really had high defense, but it was extremely fast, it also had strong stealth skills, while also having in possession pretty much instant death attacks.>>

<<Still, I countered him.>>

<<I was way faster, allowing me to dodge his attacks and then stack up damage.>>

<<Honestly I didn’t even needed to rely on any of my monsters to attack or just act as meat shields.>>

<<And pretty much? It didn’t took me extremely long to defeat this boss monster all on my own.>>

"Rewards.... Only crafting materials."

"...Hm..."

(It doesn’t look like there is anymore enemies.... Was that it?)

(I mean, sure, he was scary.)

(Any average player would have hard time dealing with him.... But still, once you realize how he works and don’t get scared by those saw blades and chainsaws, you can easily beat him.)

(Was I wrong?)

(....No.)

(The dragon gryphons were much harder.) – thought Thanatos as she explored the room for a bit, before then finding the next pair of doors.

Thanatos passed through the doors, which led through the corridor, which they in turn led to another set of doors.

"...Huh..." – Thanatos like before had her monster open up the door for her, which led to the group discovering a massive spacious wasteland like area... Which contained one massive rhino like monster which was covered in head to toes in horns.

[Berserker Rhino]

"Ah.... So that is the freaking gimmick here."

<<Boss rush.>>

<<This dungeon has a boss rush mechanic.>>

<<Each room has a boss monster inside of it.>>

<<Each room is extremely spacious and modified to give somewhat advantage to the boss monster who is inside of the room.>>

<<Not only that, each boss is unique.>>

<<Simple put, they have different specialties, skills and what not.>>

<<Which is somewhat annoying.>>

<<That rhino monster that I fought next had annoying counter damage mechanic, which made him return some of the damage received from the close combat attacks, such as strikes from my scythe... Still, I was able to beat him with magic and guns that Phantasia made me.>>

<<After beating that boss, I fought a third boss.>>

<<A hawk monster that used combination of water and thunder magic, which it used to summon a duo elemental monsters to its side.>>

<<Annoying bastard, but once I got on his back, I was able to rip him apart.>>

<<The fourth monster was six headed wolf monster, which was straight up shooting its teethes like a freaking bullets.>>

<<Each of these bosses had annoying gimmicks and not only that, but I could also tell that next one was always stronger than the previous one.>>

<<Still, I was packed up with potions and special made weapons, while also not being extremely exhausted... So, I was still good to go.>>

<<After beating the four rooms, I ended up encountering another stairs leading downwards... I guess I will have to beat 4 boss rooms each time before I descend down?>>

<<Anyway, I took the stairs.... And soon after entered the fifth room.>>

<<That room had monster called [Crab Pirate].>>

<<Which was.... A crap which had a shell in form of a pirate hat?>>

<<It was weird guy.>>

<<However, I soon came to realize how dangerous he was.>>

<<The first room main gimmick was stealth.>>

<<The second room was counter damage.>>

<<Third was summons.>>

<<And fourth was gun teethes.>>

<<But the fifth room? It had two main gimmicks.>>

<<The first one was the water cannon. That guy could fire from one of his claws a powerful blast of water which was straight up destroying everything it had touched.>>

<<He did needed to reloaded his claw by absorbing the water that was in the room, but still, deadly as fuck.... I think Phantasia would had wanted to get this guy no matter what with that cannon ability alone.>>

<<Anyway, his second main gimmick, water shield.>>

<<Simple put, this guy was using water around as sacrifice, in order to create a damage absorbing shield, which could even cancel out a ultimate attack.>>

<<This bastard would run around the map, collecting water from small island and straight up become both important while having a death cannon at the same time.>>

<<He even destroyed few of my summons with that cannon.>>

<<Still, once I got the timing, I was able to get rid of the bastard.>>

<<...Still, this was beyond problematic.>>

<<The room was way larger compare to before and the difficulty change straight up skyrocket.>>

<<And the sixth room proven me that.>>

<<The sixth boss was massive mole, which had ability to sent its attacks underground, which could then just jump out from the ground and right at me, while also having a second main gimmick, which was clone creation.>>

[You have slain: Murder Mole.]

*Phew*

"Fucking bastard finally died." – said Thanatos.

"How many freaking fakes can he make for crying out?"

(Honestly this is problematic.)

(Are all bosses like that?)

(I should be still able to do seventh and eight boss.... Still, how many floors are there?)

(The difficulty noticeable spiked.... But I think I should be able to do the third floor.... However, what about fourth floor? How big of a power spike will it be?)

"..."

(Not only that, does the dungeon has any special gimmicks as well?)

(Like for example, I have to beat every single boss in one go?)

(There are dungeons like these out there.... So, it wouldn’t really surprise me if I were to leave and all the bosses would just respawn.)

"Yeb.... Better safe than sorry."

<<I’ve decided to somewhat preserve my strength while going deeper.>>

<<I didn’t cared if the fights would last longer because of that, but I really didn’t wanted to screw up because I was impatient.>>

<<The seventh and the eight boss rooms were dealt with somewhat easily... Before then I found another stairs which led me deeper... And then I had encounter with the ninth boss.>>

<<Just as expected, he had 3 main specialties.>>

<<A tiger that could create a mist, fire off poison attacks and even freaking teleport.... That was.... Weird, but somehow extremely annoying combo.>>

<<...Ah.... I freaking get it.>>

<<This dungeon was designed for the all-rounders.>>

<<Motherfuckers.>>

<<How did I not realized something so obvious?>>

<<Each monster have different specialty, and just specializing in one thing yourself may not be enough.>>

<<Hm.... It will be freaking problematic... But again, I’m not giving up.>>

<<Still, I need to say.... Is this place really a temple?>>

<<The dungeon is called [Beast Sanctuary].>>

<<Not "temple".>>

<<Phantasia said that we should inspect the dungeons we encountered just in case, since it could give us some hints.... But there is freaking nothing.>>

<<I looked outside, nothing, just peaceful animals.>>

<<The same goes for inside. There was nothing.>>

<<I even read the items’ descriptions from the stuff that I obtained from the bosses in order to obtain some clues... But there was nothing that would point at anything or anybody that would connect these monsters together.>>

<<Was I at a wrong place?>>

<<Was this place truly not a temple?>>

<<...Still, we can’t be sure that it always needs to be a temple.>>

<<I need to fully beat this dungeon to at least "check" if this place was a goal or a miss.>>

<<Anyway, after beathing the ninth boss, I then went and cleared up tenth, eleventh and twelve rooms, before then making a short rest and heading for the fourth floor.>>

"...13th... Open up." – said Thanatos as she once again commanded her monsters to open up the doors.

"!"

(Huh... This one is... Different?) – thought Thanatos as she entered the room and realized that the room was not only just bigger.... But it was also far more spiker.

(Spikes, spikes and spikes everywhere?)

(What are these even?)

(Plants?)

(...No... They are rocks.)

(And the whole map is filled with them?) – thought Thanatos as she realized that the whole map was filled with bend rock spikes, which were straight up present everywhere, be it on the ground or celling, with even some bigger spikes having their own lite spikes seemingly growing out of them.

(Other areas looked natural.)

(I mean, jungles, grass fields, wastelands, sea and what not... All of it were "natural".)

(But the hell is this crap? There is no "nature" in this?)

(...Well, maybe "fantasy nature"?)

(...Anyway, where is the boss?)

"..."

(Another freaking stealth one? For fuck’s sake... They can repeat?)

(Still, the cooldown for this thing is over.)

"[Blood Vision]."

But the moment Thanatos used her detection skill, one of the stone spikes from above suddenly flew right at her in a total silence, which made the woman not notice the incoming attack at all, until the last second where Thanatos moved to the side, dodging the direct hit... But still getting somewhat slashed in the process.

"Oh.... This ain’t stealth skill!" – said Thanatos as the rocks below her also came to life and tried attacking her, forcing Thanatos to somewhat block off the attack with her scythe... But only somewhat, as the woman could feel the alarming level of strength behind the attack, which forced Thanatos to back away.

"Tch. So that is the gimmick here?" – said Thanatos as the columns of earth spikes started moving around, seemingly coming to life.... Or more exactly, stopping to pretend to be a one, as Thanatos realized that some of the columns of spikes were nothing more than legs that were attached to the massive twisted body that was hiding right in the plain sight.
