Chapter 261: Chapter: 260 Arrogence can get you killed[4]

All the weapons behind Kavin suddenly moved.

The massive wall of circles trembled as countless swords, spears, axes, daggers, hammers, and every other weapon suspended within them shot forward like a relentless storm.

One after another they descended upon Donaven without pause.

The giant’s expression darkened instantly.

He no longer had the luxury of charging forward and overwhelming his opponent through brute force. Every second demanded his full attention as weapons attacked from every direction.

Some he dodged by narrowly shifting his body aside. Others he deflected with his fists, producing explosive shockwaves that echoed throughout the arena.

The remaining attacks left him with only one option. His body dissolved into particles of light.

A spear passed harmlessly through his chest, a sword sliced through his neck, an axe buried itself through his shoulder.

Yet none of the attacks drew blood as his physical form transformed into light and allowed the weapons to pass through him before he materialized once more.

At first the crowd gasped every time it happened. By the tenth time they had become numb.

By the twentieth time even the spectators could see something was wrong.

Donaven’s breathing was becoming heavier....sweat covered his forehead. The constant use of the ability was clearly taking a toll on him.

Meanwhile Kavin refused to give him a single moment of rest.

Every time Donaven thought he had created some distance, Kavin would suddenly appear beside him.

Time Leaps.

The spell activated again and again.

One moment Kavin would be several meters away.

The next moment his wakizashi would already be descending toward Donaven’s neck.

The giant attempted to counterattack several times.

His fists swung with enough force to shatter stone and flatten buildings.

Unfortunately, Kavin had become even more troublesome after figuring out the limitations of the Light Path spell.

Whenever Donaven attempted to retaliate, Kavin would instantly accelerate his own movements.

A sword slash that should have been avoidable suddenly doubled in speed.

A thrust that seemed ordinary transformed into a deadly strike in the blink of an eye.

The abrupt acceleration constantly disrupted Donaven’s timing and forced him to activate his Light Path ability again and again.

Every exchange drained him further. The transformation into light pushed his body closer to its limit.

The battle had slowly transformed into a trap.

And Donaven had become the prey.

"He is a battle genius..."

Inside the VIP area, Magnus unconsciously let out an excited gasp.

His eyes remained fixed on the arena as though afraid to miss even a single second. Truthfully, he had been looking forward to this battle from the very beginning.

He had known that Donaven passed his Heavenly Trial nearly a month ago.

However, he deliberately chose not to inform Kavin. Partly because he wanted to test the boy.

Partly because he wanted to see how far Kavin could go when pushed into a corner.

Most importantly, he wanted to witness Kavin use everything in his arsenal against a truly powerful opponent.

What he never expected was this. His gaze remained glued to the battlefield.

The spell Donaven was using was not some ordinary technique. Magnus knew exactly how much effort had gone into creating it.

Ten years.

Ten entire years of research, experimentation, failures, and enlightenment before Donaven finally succeeded.

Yet Kavin had uncovered its weakness after only a handful of exchanges.

"What a monster..." A thin layer of cold sweat appeared across Magnus’s forehead.

Despite that, the grin on his face only widened. The more he watched, the more unbelievable the boy became.

"What do you mean, Uncle?" Salena finally spoke, confusion was written all over her face. She had been watching the fight since the beginning.

When Donaven’s Mountain Crushing Twin Fist shattered Kavin’s hand and sent him crashing through a wall, she genuinely thought the battle was over.

Yet somehow the young man had climbed back up.

Not only had he survived, he was now controlling the pace of the fight.

She was impressed.....very impressed to be exact. However, what confused her was Magnus’s reaction.

Her uncle had witnessed countless battles during his life. He had participated in wars.

He had watched geniuses rise and fall.

Normally, very little managed to excite him.

Yet right now he looked like a child who had discovered buried treasure.

"You are still young, Salena." Magnus chuckled while shaking his head. "You won’t fully understand what you’re seeing. But let me explain."

His voice carried an excitement that was difficult to suppress. It seemed he desperately wanted someone to share his thoughts with.

"That boy is a monster on the battlefield." Magnus pointed toward Kavin.

"Despite his age, he has already created an arsenal of spells that would put many Infinite Core experts to shame. The techniques he uses are not ordinary creations. Their depth and complexity are absurd."

His eyes narrowed slightly. "In fact, some of them are comparable to the inheritances of the Solarian Family."

Salena’s eyes widened. The Solarian Family?

Her mind nearly stopped functioning. The comparison was absurd.

The Solarian Family stood among the greatest powers of the Four Stationary Continents.

Generations of rulers had left behind inheritances within their clan.

Some rumors even claimed fragments of their founding ancestor’s inheritance still existed.

Comparing a former bandit to such a family was like comparing a Mycoplasma to an Argentinosaurus.

"How can that be?" she asked.

Magnus nodded heavily. "I know exactly how ridiculous it sounds."

His gaze shifted toward the arena. "His spells... and honestly, Jasmine’s as well."

A thoughtful expression appeared on his face.

"She hasn’t revealed much yet, but from what I’ve seen, her techniques are also extraordinarily profound."

He paused briefly.

"For two people who started as bandits to possess abilities of this level is almost unbelievable. Their talent alone would place them among the greatest geniuses of this generation."

A grin appeared on his face. "And that’s not even the most frightening part."

Salena blinked.

Magnus pointed toward the battlefield.

"Look carefully at what Kavin is doing."

She focused on the arena.

"He’s not trying to overpower Donaven."

Magnus’s voice became serious. "He’s exhausting him."

The giant man watched with admiration.

"Donaven is at least ten times stronger than him physically. Any direct confrontation would be suicide. So instead of competing with strength, Kavin identified the weakness of the spell and built his entire strategy around exploiting it."

His voice carried genuine amazement.

"Do you understand how terrifying that is?"

Salena remained silent.

"He figured out a spell that took ten years to create after only a few exchanges."

Magnus shook his head. "And now he’s systematically dismantling its owner."

A long silence followed. Salena slowly turned her gaze back toward the arena.

Donaven was visibly struggling now. His breathing had become ragged. His movements lacked the confidence they possessed earlier.

Meanwhile Kavin continued grinning while directing the storm of weapons. For the first time, she truly understood why her uncle was so excited.

It wasn’t simply because Kavin was winning. It was because the way he was winning was terrifying.

"We shouldn’t let them leave."

Magnus suddenly spoke. His tone had become completely serious.

Salena immediately looked toward him. The excitement was gone from his face.

Only determination remained.

"These two are monsters." His gaze remained fixed on the battlefield. "And I’m certain that wherever they go, powerful factions will try to recruit them."

He slowly turned toward Salena. "Your chances of succession are slim."

Salena lowered her head slightly.

She knew that....everyone knew that.

"But if they support you..."

Magnus’s eyes narrowed. "Everything changes."

He continued speaking before she could interrupt.

"They are unable to pass the Heavenly Trials because of whatever curse they carry."

His expression darkened slightly.

"However, once they enter the One Hundred and One Treasure Tower and obtain that artifact..."

A hopeful look appeared in his eyes. "I’m confident they can overcome it."

His voice became firm.

"And if they overcome it, they will eventually pass the Five Trials and enter the Infinite Core Realm."

Magnus looked directly into her eyes.

"We must keep them at our side." The conviction in his voice was absolute.

"In my hundred years of life, I have witnessed countless so-called geniuses."

A small laugh escaped him."Most turned out to be disappointments. But these two..."

He slowly shook his head. "None of them come close."

"But Uncle..." Salena tried to speak.

Magnus gently interrupted her. "Don’t worry. We won’t force them."

His expression softened, then he looked at her carefully.

"Do you remember what they told you before?"

Salena froze.

"They said they see their daughter in you."

The old man’s voice carried a warmth she rarely heard.

"If—"

BOOM!

A deafening explosion suddenly interrupted him. The entire arena trembled.

Dust erupted into the air. Both Magnus and Salena immediately turned toward the battlefield.

There, at the center of a massive crater, Donaven lay sprawled across the ground.

His body was battered and bruised. Cuts and wounds covered him from head to toe.

His chest rose and fell violently as he struggled to breathe. The giant who had dominated the opening phase of the battle could no longer stand.

A short distance away stood Kavin.

His clothes were torn, his body was covered in injuries. Exhaustion was evident on his face.

Yet despite everything, he remained standing. The wakizashi rested in his hand as a grin slowly spread across his face.

It had not been an easy victory. But against an opponent vastly stronger than himself, Kavin had done the impossible.

Kavin won the duel!
