Chapter 262: Chapter: 261 Buying a House.[1]
"The winner of the ranked match between Kavin and Mountain Crushing Twin Fist Donaven... and the new Ninth Ranked Spell Caster is... Kavin!"
The announcer’s voice thundered throughout the arena. For a brief moment, silence hung over the battlefield.
Then the entire arena erupted.
A deafening roar rose from tens of thousands of spectators as cheers, whistles, and excited shouts merged into a single wave of noise.
Many people jumped to their feet while others slammed their hands against the railings in excitement.
Even those who had lost their bets found themselves cheering.
The duel had been worth every tael.
The battle had been brutal, unpredictable, and entertaining from beginning to end.
Watching Kavin survive Donaven’s overwhelming assault before slowly turning the fight around had left everyone thoroughly satisfied.
Meanwhile, at the center of the arena, Donaven’s massive body remained sprawled inside the crater.
The giant looked miserable.
His face had swollen from repeated impacts. Bruises covered nearly every visible patch of skin while cuts from countless weapons littered his body. His chest rose and fell heavily as he struggled to recover his breath.
A team of healers quickly rushed onto the battlefield.
At first they attempted to lift him.
After several embarrassing seconds of effort, they immediately abandoned the idea.
Donaven was simply too heavy.
The healers exchanged awkward glances before deciding to begin treatment on the spot.
Not far away, Kavin finally relaxed.
The moment the battle ended, the adrenaline keeping him upright began fading.
A sharp grimace appeared on his face as pain surged through his body. Every step sent discomfort through his ribs while his left hand felt as though it had been crushed beneath a mountain.
Which, technically speaking, wasn’t far from the truth. Holding his injured arm against his chest, he walked directly toward the healers.
The group noticed his approach immediately. Before they could say anything, Kavin thrust his damaged hand forward.
"Heal this first."
His voice was cold and carried a tone that left little room for discussion.
The healers froze. Their gazes shifted between Donaven and Kavin, on one side lay a giant who looked half dead, on the other stood the winner whose hand appeared completely ruined.
For a moment they hesitated.
Then Kavin’s expression darkened.
The hesitation vanished instantly. Several healers hurried toward him while the rest remained with Donaven.
Soon nearly ten healers surrounded Kavin.
They placed their palms above his shattered hand and began reciting healing incantations.
Soft green light emerged from their bodies.
Countless tiny star-like particles drifted through the air before gathering around Kavin’s arm. The pale green glow wrapped around the injured limb and began seeping into his flesh.
The healing process was anything but pleasant. The moment the energy entered his body, a wave of pain surged through him.
Kavin’s jaw tightened.
The sensation felt as though countless needles were digging through flesh and bone while simultaneously forcing everything back into place.
His fingers twitched involuntarily....the healers continued their work.
Slowly, the bluish discoloration faded.
The swollen flesh shrank. Broken bones began reconnecting while torn muscles and damaged tissues repaired themselves.
Several minutes later the horrible color had disappeared completely, replaced by healthy skin.
The healers then shifted their focus toward his chest. A few of his ribs had been broken during the battle.
Some fragments had even punctured his lungs, making every breath feel like inhaling knives.
As healing energy entered the area, the pain became even worse than before.
Kavin could almost feel the bone fragments moving inside his body as they returned to their proper positions.
His lungs repaired themselves, the damaged tissue regenerated.
Gradually his breathing stabilized.
The stabbing pain faded little by little until only a faint soreness remained. By the time the healers finished, nearly half an hour had passed.
Kavin rolled his shoulder before flexing his fingers.
The pain was gone.
There was still some stiffness in his movements, but that would disappear naturally after a little rest.
Giving the healers a satisfied nod, he turned away and headed toward the waiting area. From a distance he could already see Jasmine standing there.
Her arms were folded across her chest as she leaned against the wall. Even from afar, Kavin could practically see the smirk on her face.
His expression immediately darkened.
’Damn it.’
He already knew what was coming.
Earlier he had confidently declared that he would finish Donaven within three seconds.
Instead, he had spent an entire battle getting punched through walls, having his hand shattered, and nearly coughing up his lungs.
There was absolutely no way Jasmine would let him forget that.
Not that he really minded.
If he were being honest with himself, he actually enjoyed it whenever she teased him....
With that thought in mind, Kavin walked over wearing an intentionally disappointed expression.
Jasmine did not disappoint.
"Hehe. Weren’t you supposed to defeat him in three seconds, honey?"
The shadows concealed most of her face from outsiders, so no one could see her talking.
"Tsk."
He clicked his tongue.
"The guy passed a Heavenly Trial. What did you expect? It was really hard."
Jasmine finally stepped forward, allowing the light to reveal her face.
The grin she wore made Kavin regret opening his mouth.
"But we lost two hundred million taels." She sounded genuinely heartbroken.
Kavin snorted.
"It’s not two hundred million. It’s only one million. Besides, we earned three hundred million from your match."
Jasmine sighed dramatically.
"I suppose."
Although her tone sounded reluctant, the corners of her lips continued twitching upward.
After a moment her gaze shifted toward the VIP section.
Magnus and Salena were still seated there, engaged in discussion.
Jasmine observed them quietly before turning back toward Kavin.
"Do you think they’ve taken an interest in us?"
Kavin remained silent for several seconds as he began walking toward the exit while Jasmine followed beside him, waiting for an answer.
Eventually he spoke.
"They have."
*******
Several hours later, Kavin and Jasmine found themselves slowly leaving the grand entrance of one of the largest and most prominent banks within Sun Family City.
Behind them stood the bank manager.
The man’s bright smile was so incredibly wide that it seemed permanently attached to his face.
"Please come again, Sir!" He bowed deeply and respectfully toward them.
Both Kavin and Jasmine simply gave a brief nod before continuing down the stone stairs.
The underlying reason for the man’s intense enthusiasm was entirely obvious.
They had just deposited a massive sum of approximately two hundred and fifty million taels into their account.
Any financial institution would happily treat high-value customers like that with the absolute highest level of hospitality and care.
The busy, crowded streets of Sun Family City stretched far out before them.
Loud merchants called out from both sides of the road while countless pedestrians filled every single available space.
After walking quietly through several crowded streets, the pair eventually arrived at Javire Street.
The area was noticeably quieter and much more peaceful than the loud market district. Rows of offices and private businesses lined the entire road.
Soon they stopped directly in front of a building carrying the sign: Healthy Family Home Finance.
Without a single moment of hesitation, the pair stepped inside. The formal discussion inside the office lasted for nearly a full hour.
When they finally emerged back outside, identical smiles were plastered completely across both of their faces.
The very moment they stepped outside, however, those warm smiles vanished as though they had never even existed.
Their expressions instantly returned to their usual cold, detached, and indifferent masks.
After all, the entire city believed they were grieving parents seeking bitter revenge for their dead son.
Maintaining these false appearances remained incredibly important for their safety.
Yet deep beneath those emotionless faces, both of them were feeling incredibly happy.
They had finally bought a house.
Their very own house.
Technically speaking, both of them normally had access to far greater amounts of wealth.
Kavin could easily spend enormous sums of money through his powerful family.
Jasmine’s family possessed an even greater pool of vast resources.
At least, that was the case before she ran away and effectively lost all access to most of them.
Neither of those massive family fortunes felt truly meaningful to them now.
That money belonged strictly to their families.
This money was completely different.
This was wealth they had personally earned with their own hard work.
Well... mostly earned.
Kavin quite conveniently ignored the specific portions he had stolen.
Details like that were completely unimportant to him.
The important part was that they had fought, schemed, gambled, survived, and worked hard for this fortune entirely themselves.
As far as Kavin was concerned, it was entirely their own hard-earned money.
Jasmine glanced toward him.
Even though she used her heavily disguised voice, the excitement hidden beneath it was impossible to conceal.
"Shall we go visit our new home?"
Kavin looked at her, a genuine smile appearing on Kavin’s face.
"Yeah."
Together they disappeared into the bustling streets of Sun Family City, heading toward the place they could finally call home.
