Chapter 74: The Spiritual Root Gift Pays
That night, Damian returned to the courtyard with three jade bottles in his storage ring and a grin that looked far too suspicious.
Violetta and Vulkara were both sitting beneath the bamboo tree, quietly cultivating.
The moment Damian walked in, Vulkara opened one eye and frowned. "Why are you smiling like that?"
Violetta also looked up gently. "Master?"
Damian walked over slowly, his hands behind his back. "Nothing. I just suddenly remembered that I am a very kind and generous master."
Vulkara’s face immediately became wary. "Whenever you say something like that, trouble usually follows."
Damian clicked his tongue. "Red-haired rat, your trust in me is really too low."
Vulkara’s eyebrow twitched. "Say rat again and I’ll bite you."
Damian grinned. "See? Rat behavior."
Vulkara almost jumped up, but Violetta softly held her sleeve and smiled helplessly. "Master, did something good happen?"
Damian finally stopped teasing and took out two jade bottles.
The moment the bottles appeared, a faint medicinal fragrance spread through the courtyard.
Violetta’s eyes moved slightly.
Vulkara also froze for a second. Even though she did not know what was inside, the fragrance alone told her these pills were not ordinary.
Damian placed one bottle in front of Violetta and the other in front of Vulkara. "These are for you two."
Vulkara stared at the jade bottle suspiciously. "What is it this time?"
Damian smiled. "Top-Rank Profound Grade Spiritual Root Pills."
The courtyard instantly became quiet.
Violetta’s expression changed slightly. "Spiritual Root Pills?"
Vulkara’s eyes widened. "Wait... spiritual root? As in, the thing that can improve our spiritual roots?"
Damian nodded. "Exactly."
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Both of them understood what this meant.
Their spiritual roots were only Mortal Grade. Even with good cultivation arts and enough pills, that would eventually become a huge shackle.
But if their spiritual roots could be upgraded to Profound Grade, their future path would become completely different.
Violetta slowly picked up the jade bottle, her fingers tightening slightly around it. "Master... this is too precious."
Vulkara also looked down at the bottle, her usual sharp tongue suddenly quiet.
Damian waved his hand casually. "Precious? Maybe. But you two are my disciples. If your talent is too low, won’t that make me look bad?"
Vulkara’s mouth twitched. "So you’re doing this for your face?"
Damian grinned. "Of course. What else?"
Violetta smiled softly, but her eyes were warm. "Thank you, Master."
Vulkara looked away and muttered, "Thanks..."
Damian leaned closer with a playful smile. "What was that? I didn’t hear it."
Vulkara glared at him. "I said thank you, bastard master!"
Damian laughed immediately. "Good. Much better."
Violetta covered her lips and chuckled softly.
Damian looked at the two of them and smiled with rare seriousness. "Use them well. Reach Foundation Establishment quickly. I don’t plan to leave either of you behind."
Violetta and Vulkara both froze slightly.
Then, almost at the same time, they nodded.
"Yes, Master."
"Yeah... I know."
Damian smiled in satisfaction.
Then, as expected, the familiar system screen appeared in front of him.
---
[Target: Violetta]
[Gift Given: Top-Rank Profound Grade Spiritual Root Pill]
[100× Critical Multiplier Activated]
[Reward Obtained: Noble Grade Triple Element Spiritual Root: Water, Earth, Metal]
---
[Target: Vulkara]
[Gift Given: Top-Rank Profound Grade Spiritual Root Pill]
[30× Critical Multiplier Activated]
[Reward Obtained: Noble Grade Wood Spiritual Root]
---
The moment Damian saw the rewards, his eyes widened in shock because the rewards were just too outrageous.
All of them were spiritual roots, and not only that, Violetta’s reward was even a triple-element spiritual root.
Damian’s mind almost froze because he currently already had a double-element spiritual root.
Now, if he absorbed these two rewards, his spiritual root would become a six-element spiritual root.
More importantly, among them, Water, Earth, Metal, Wood, and Flame formed the basic five-element cycle.
Damian swallowed slightly. "Damn... this isn’t some small improvement. This is a complete foundation-changing reward."
For a moment, Damian looked at Violetta and Vulkara with complicated eyes.
His two disciples were still holding the jade bottles carefully, completely unaware of what kind of ridiculous reward they had just given him.
Violetta noticed his expression and tilted her head slightly. "Master?"
Vulkara frowned. "Why are you looking at us like that?"
Damian suddenly laughed.
Then, before either of them could react, he reached out and patted both of their heads.
Violetta froze slightly.
Vulkara’s face immediately turned red from anger. "Hey! Don’t pat my head like I’m a kid!"
Damian grinned widely. "My disciples are really my treasure chests."
Vulkara’s eyebrow twitched. "What the hell does that mean?"
Violetta smiled softly, though she also looked a little confused.
Damian only laughed and pulled his hands back before Vulkara could bite him.
"Nothing. Just take the pills and cultivate properly. I expect both of you to reach Foundation Establishment as soon as possible."
Violetta nodded gently. "We will not disappoint you, Master."
Vulkara clicked her tongue but still gripped the jade bottle tightly. "Yeah, yeah. I know."
Damian smiled in satisfaction.
Then he remembered something and said, "Right. I am going out for a mission tomorrow, so both of you stay on the mountain and cultivate."
Violetta’s expression became slightly serious. "Will you be going alone, Master?"
Damian nodded. "For now, yes."
Vulkara frowned. "Don’t cause trouble outside."
Damian blinked.
Then he laughed. "Since when did you become the one saying that to me?"
Vulkara snorted. "Since I realized trouble follows you like a damn dog."
Damian pointed at her. "Rude, but not completely wrong."
After saying that, Damian turned around and walked out of the courtyard.
Behind him, Violetta and Vulkara watched him leave before looking down at the Spiritual Root Pills in their hands.
Meanwhile, Damian made his way down Selvara’s mountain peak with a bright mood.
He had gained two ridiculous rewards, and now he was finally going out for a mission.
More importantly, the Mission Hall was one of the busiest places in the sect.
If he was lucky, he might even meet Raika there.
Damian’s grin slowly returned. "Alright. Let’s see what kind of mission this sect has."
