Chapter 166: Forgiveness Triggers Critical Rewards
Serina stared at the jade bottle in her hand for a long time.
The medicinal fragrance drifting from it was pure and gentle, completely different from the bloody smell filling Kerran Bloodhand’s ruined hideout.
Miona also remained silent.
Her fingers were still wrapped tightly around the bottle, but her eyes kept shifting between Damian and the elixir, as if she could not decide whether to throw it away or hide it immediately.
Finally, Serina raised her head.
Her calm mask had mostly returned, but her voice carried a trace of caution. "Senior Brother Damian, what do you want?"
Damian blinked. "What?"
Serina looked down at the jade bottle. "There is no way you would give something like this to us for free."
Miona clicked her tongue. "Exactly. Don’t act like some pure-hearted saint. You’re shameless, greedy, and suspicious as hell."
Damian placed one hand over his chest with an offended expression. "Junior Sister Miona, your words are truly painful."
Miona’s gaze turned sharp. "Answer the damn question."
Damian sighed.
For once, he did not immediately joke.
"I already said it," he replied. "I saw your identity after promising not to force your secret out of you. Those are my gifts for forgiveness."
Serina’s eyes moved slightly.
Damian pointed at the two jade bottles. "Also, you already know the rumors about me, right?"
Miona’s mouth twitched. "The rumor that you give expensive gifts to beautiful women like a crazy bastard?"
Damian nodded proudly. "Correct. Although I prefer calling it refined generosity."
Miona almost cursed again.
Damian continued casually, "I do like giving gifts to women without caring about return gifts. That part of the rumor is true."
Serina looked at him quietly. "Even when those women are demonic sect spies?"
Damian shrugged. "Beautiful demonic sect spies with tragic hidden restrictions still count."
Miona stared at him like he was hopeless. "You really are insane."
"Many people say that," Damian answered smoothly.
A short silence followed.
The red mist drifted through the broken ruin, brushing against cracked walls and blood-stained stones.
Damian slipped the black message jade into his storage ring, then turned around. "Anyway, I’ve taken what I need. Let’s part here."
Serina’s expression changed faintly. "You’re leaving?"
Damian waved his hand. "Of course. Staying too long with two dangerous beauties who poisoned me, almost killed me, and are afraid of my master sounds bad for my health."
Miona’s blade lowered slightly, but her suspicion did not disappear. "Are you going to tell others about our identity?"
Damian looked back at them.
For a moment, his usual shameless grin faded into something calmer. "Don’t worry too much. I won’t tell anyone."
Serina’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Why?"
Damian smiled helplessly. "Because exposing you two will only make it harder for me to live later on."
He pointed at himself. "I’m shameless, not suicidal."
Miona fell silent.
Serina tightened her grip around the jade bottle.
Damian climbed back onto the carriage and patted Draco’s head. "Goodbye, mist beauties."
Miona’s eyebrow twitched. "Don’t call us that."
Damian grinned again. "No promises."
Draco gave a lazy HUFF, then slowly pulled the carriage away from the ruined hideout.
Serina and Miona stood silently in the red mist, still holding the jade bottles Damian had given them.
For a long time, neither sister spoke.
They simply watched the carriage disappear into the mist, their expressions complicated in a way neither of them could easily explain.
---
Draco slowly pulled the carriage away from Kerran Bloodhand’s ruined hideout.
Inside the carriage, Damian leaned back with one hand supporting his chin, grinning as he looked at the two system screens floating before his eyes.
---

Damian froze for half a breath. "Goddamn... Critical? How the hell is this Critical?"
His gaze locked onto the two new jade bottles that appeared in his hand.
One bottle glowed with a soft silver-gold light, pure and gentle, as if it could wash away dust from the soul itself.
The other bottle released a heavy dragon-like aura, thick and powerful, causing Damian’s blood and bones to faintly heat up.
Damian quickly checked their descriptions through the system, and his grin widened even more.
"Damn. One can strengthen my soul, and the other can strengthen my physical body. These returns are really amazing this time."
A thoughtful look soon appeared on his face.
"But still, how did they trigger Critical returns?"
He slowly rubbed his chin.
"Although the elixirs were really good, they were still Top-Rank Noble Grade. With their status, they should have been able to get something like that eventually, right?"
A moment later, Damian remembered the system’s rules again.
His eyes flickered.
"Hm, could it be because of the shock?"
He glanced back in the direction of the ruined hideout, where Serina and Miona had been left standing in the red mist.
"I gave them gifts even though I knew they were demonic sect spies. Not only that, I said I wouldn’t expose them and walked away."
Damian nodded slowly, as if he had just solved something profound.
"Yeah. The system did say emotional influence matters. Shock should count too, right?"
His expression turned even more satisfied.
"Good. Very good. It seems being shameless, generous, and impossible to understand is also a powerful gifting strategy."
Draco gave a lazy snort from outside the carriage, as if even the [Iron Drake] felt speechless.
Damian ignored him and carefully stored the two elixirs away.
"Still... this is truly the first time I’ve met multipliers who are real villainesses."
A low laugh escaped his mouth. "Hehehe... this feels quite thrilling."
Damian looked toward the red mist outside the window.
His eyes carried curiosity, greed, and a strange excitement that no proper righteous disciple should have shown. "I wonder when I’ll meet other villainesses."
His grin widened again. "Or maybe..."
He paused for a moment, then laughed softly. "Maybe my own disciples will become villainesses one day."
The thought did not make him worried.
Not even a little.
Instead, Damian’s eyes shone brighter. "If that happens, wouldn’t that be even more interesting?"
Then, the system suddenly flickered, and a new screen appeared before his eyes.
Damian blinked, his grin freezing slightly. "Huh? What the hell? Didn’t I already see the returns? What’s this one about?"
