Chapter 165: Evidence Collection Means Taking Everything
Serina looked at Damian quietly.
For a moment, the red mist drifted between them, and none of them spoke.
Miona still held her blade, her posture tense and guarded, while Serina’s calm face carried a faint trace of hesitation.
Damian waited for several breaths before raising an eyebrow. "Well? Are you going to answer, or should I start guessing more dangerous things?"
Miona clicked her tongue. "You already guessed too damn much."
Serina sighed softly. "Senior Brother Damian, I’m sorry."
Damian tilted his head. "Sorry?"
Serina’s voice remained gentle, but there was no longer any fake warmth in it. "We can’t tell you. This is a secret."
Miona added coldly, "A secret that can get people killed."
Damian stared at them for a moment.
His fingers tapped lightly against the hilt of Crimson Thunder Eclipse. "Is that so?"
Serina nodded. "Yes."
Miona’s grip tightened slightly, as if expecting him to attack or question them further.
Damian simply exhaled and shrugged. "Fine, then."
The two sisters both froze slightly.
Miona narrowed her eyes. "Fine?"
Damian smiled casually. "What? Do you want me to force the answer out of you right now? I’m shameless, not stupid. You two clearly won’t talk easily, and I don’t feel like getting stabbed by two angry mist beauties today."
Miona’s mouth twitched. "Who the hell is an angry mist beauty?"
"You," Damian answered without hesitation.
Miona’s killing intent rose again.
Serina rubbed her forehead lightly. "Senior Brother Damian..."
Damian waved his hand. "Relax. Since you can’t tell me, we’ll deal with something more important first."
He pointed toward Kerran Bloodhand’s corpse. "Let’s go to this bastard’s place."
Miona’s expression shifted. "His hideout?"
Damian nodded. "You two knew him, right? That means you should know where his hideout is."
Serina’s gaze moved faintly. "Why do you want to go there?"
Damian looked at her like the answer was obvious. "To protect your secret, of course."
Miona paused.
Damian continued, "That bastard said if he died, your secret would be exposed. That means he probably left behind some record, transcript, letter, memory jade, or whatever annoying evidence he prepared."
Serina’s eyes became sharper.
Damian grinned. "Also, I need to collect some things."
Miona’s face darkened. "You mean loot."
Damian placed one hand on his chest. "Compensation."
Miona sneered. "For what?"
Damian pointed at himself. "For being poisoned, threatened, targeted, and called delicious by a cannibal. How dare that bastard provoke me and not leave behind payment?"
Serina stared at him in silence.
Miona also fell silent.
A few breaths later, both women sighed at the same time.
Serina finally nodded. "Fine. We’ll take you there."
Miona lowered her blade, though her face remained annoyed. "Don’t touch anything suspicious without asking."
Damian smiled brightly. "No promises."
Miona cursed under her breath. "Damn shameless bastard."
Soon, Draco pulled the carriage deeper into the red mist, carrying Damian and the two sisters toward Kerran Bloodhand’s hidden lair.
---
Draco pulled the carriage through the red mist for nearly half an hour before stopping in front of a half-collapsed ruin hidden behind a wall of blood-red reeds.
The place looked abandoned from the outside, but Damian could feel a faint layer of Blood Qi covering the entrance.
Miona pointed with her blade. "That’s his hideout."
Serina’s voice remained calm. "Be careful. Kerran was weak compared to some monsters, but he was still paranoid."
Damian nodded seriously. "Good reminder."
A second later, he jumped down from the carriage and walked straight inside.
Miona’s face darkened. "Hey! Did you not hear what she just said?"
Damian waved without looking back. "I heard it. That’s why I’m moving quickly before the traps have time to feel confident."
Miona cursed under her breath. "This damn bastard..."
Inside the ruin, Damian did not waste time. He directly took everything that could be taken, including a few questionable items that probably should not have been touched by hand.
Miona stared at him from behind, her expression twitching harder with every step. "Are you seriously taking everything?"
Damian crouched beside a cracked stone table and swept three jade slips into his storage ring. "Of course. Evidence must be collected carefully."
Serina glanced at the empty shelves. "That looks more like robbery."
Damian placed one hand on his chest. "Junior Sister Serina, please don’t insult my professional attitude. This is mission inspection."
Miona sneered. "Inspection my ass."
Damian ignored her and continued searching.
Rotten wooden boxes, broken jars, bone tools, dried beast blood, old robes, spare weapons, and even a few strange blood-path manuals disappeared into his storage ring one after another.
Miona’s eyelid kept twitching.
Serina watched silently, though her calm gaze clearly said she had never seen someone rob a demonic rogue cultivator’s hideout with such righteousness.
Finally, Damian found a black message jade hidden under a blood-stained mat.
The moment he injected Qi into it, several lines of information appeared in his mind.
His smile slowly disappeared.
"Serina and Miona... planted by the Nether Blood Moon Sect inside the Blue Mist Sect."
His brows tightened.
"Mission: infiltrate the Blue Mist Sect, control their mist inheritance from within, and prepare a path for the Nether Blood Moon Sect to swallow several border sects during the next regional conflict."
Damian’s face darkened.
"Damn. This isn’t just some random demonic sect spy problem. This mission is actually terrifying."
He slowly turned his head and looked back at the two girls.
Serina’s calm expression changed faintly.
Miona’s body stiffened. "What did you see?"
Damian lifted the black message jade. "Nether Blood Moon Sect."
The atmosphere froze.
Miona’s face became ugly. "Damn it..."
Serina closed her eyes for a breath before opening them again, her gaze colder than before. "So you finally know."
Damian clicked his tongue. "To think you two are from that demonic sect. This trouble is way bigger than I expected."
Miona raised her blade halfway. "Then what now?"
Damian stared at them for a few seconds.
Then he sighed.
Without warning, he reached into his storage ring and threw two jade bottles toward them.
Serina caught one.
Miona caught the other by reflex.
Both bottles released a dense medicinal fragrance.
Damian said casually, "Top-Rank Noble Grade [Clear Heart Soul Cleansing Elixir] and Top-Rank Noble Grade [Mist Vein Restoration Elixir]."
The two sisters froze.
Miona stared at the bottle in her hand like it had turned into a snake. "What the hell is this supposed to mean?"
Serina’s fingers tightened slightly around the jade bottle. "Senior Brother Damian... why are you giving us these?"
Damian shrugged. "Because I already saw your secret after I said I wouldn’t force it out of you. So just think of this as my gift for forgiveness."
Miona looked completely stunned. "Are you insane?"
Damian smiled brightly. "Many people say that."
Serina stared at him in silence, her calm mask finally cracking a little.
