Chapter 159: Reliable Enough for Tea
Several blood-red beasts slowly stepped out from the mist.
Their bodies were covered in rough scales, their eyes glowed with hunger, and thick saliva dripped from their sharp teeth.
Each one was at least at the late Foundation Establishment level, and the largest among them was clearly close to the Peak Foundation Establishment Realm.
Borin tightened his grip on his spear. "Blood Reed Beasts."
Lareth frowned. "There are six of them."
Maren’s Earth Qi began gathering around his feet. "Not weak either."
Serina glanced toward Damian with a gentle smile. "Senior Brother Damian, we already know what our group can do."
Miona crossed her arms and looked at him directly. "Right. We know our own strength."
Her eyes narrowed. "What we don’t know is yours."
Damian blinked. "Oh?"
Miona pointed toward the beasts. "Kill them."
Borin looked surprised. "Miona!"
Miona ignored him and continued staring at Damian. "If you’re really Elder Selvara’s core disciple, then show us. Otherwise, don’t keep acting like you’re relaxed."
Damian slowly smiled. "Junior Sister Miona, are you testing me?"
Miona answered without hesitation. "Yes."
Serina covered her mouth and laughed softly. "Please don’t take it the wrong way. We simply need to know whether we can trust your strength once we face Kerran Bloodhand."
Damian nodded seriously. "That makes sense."
A second later, his grin became shameless. "But if I kill them easily, why don’t you two serve me after this?"
The group fell silent.
Borin’s mouth twitched.
Lareth nearly choked.
Maren stared at Damian like he had lost his mind.
Miona’s eyes turned cold. "Serve you?"
Damian waved his hand. "Don’t misunderstand. I mean serve me tea, admire my strength, and maybe call me a reliable senior brother."
Serina laughed softly. "That sounds much better."
Miona stared at him for several breaths before finally nodding. "Fine. If you defeat them easily, I’ll admit you’re reliable."
Damian looked at Serina.
Serina smiled. "I’ll serve you tea."
Damian’s grin widened. "Good."
The blood-red beasts suddenly rushed forward.
"ROOOAR!"
Damian took one step ahead of the group and inhaled deeply.
His Chaos Qi surged.
[Lion Roar]!
"ROOOAAAR!"
A terrifying roar exploded across the road.
The mist trembled, the red grass flattened, and all six Blood Reed Beasts froze mid-charge as if their souls had been struck by a hammer.
Borin’s eyes widened. "What the hell?"
Damian drew Crimson Thunder Eclipse.
Flame and thunder instantly wrapped around the blade.
[Burning Thunder Sword Art]!
His figure flashed forward.
WHOOSH!
A crimson-gold sword light tore through the first beast.
SLASH!
The second beast fell before it could recover.
The third and fourth were split apart in the next breath.
By the time the remaining two beasts tried to move, Damian had already appeared behind them.
BOOM!
Burning thunder erupted.
All six beasts collapsed.
Damian casually shook the blood from his sword and turned back with a grin. "Well?"
He looked at Miona first, then Serina. "Reliable enough for tea?"
Miona stared at the six collapsed Blood Reed Beasts with a frozen expression.
For several breaths, she did not say anything.
Serina, on the other hand, did not change much. She only covered her mouth and laughed softly, her eyes showing clear amusement.
Borin, Lareth, and Maren were also silent.
A moment later, Damian raised an eyebrow. "Well?"
Miona’s mouth twitched. "Fine."
Damian smiled. "Fine what?"
Miona glared at him. "You are reliable."
Damian’s grin immediately widened. "Good. Very good."
Serina smiled gently. "And I will serve you tea later."
Damian waved his hand. "No need to wait until later. We can do it now."
The others immediately frowned.
Borin stared at him. "We know you won, but we are on a mission. We can’t stop here for your enjoyment."
Lareth nodded. "Blood Reed Valley is already dangerous. Staying in one place too long is not wise."
Maren added seriously, "Kerran Bloodhand could be nearby."
Damian ignored all of them and smiled brightly. "Who said we need to stop?"
He waved his hand.
A dark flash appeared beside him, and the next moment, a huge iron-scaled drake landed on the road.
THUD!
The ground trembled slightly.
The creature was far larger than before, covered in dark iron scales with two sharp horns and a blade-like tail dragging across the ground.
Its lazy eyes slowly opened, and it looked at Damian as if asking why the hell it had been summoned.
The five cultivators immediately stepped back.
Maren’s eyes widened. "A Golden Core level beast?"
Borin gripped his spear tighter. "You have a contracted beast?"
Damian proudly placed one hand on his chest. "Of course. A handsome man naturally needs a powerful mount."
He patted the drake’s head. "Draco, come on. I already fed you a lot, so it’s time for you to help me pull the carriage."
The [Iron Drake], Draco, stared at him.
A long sigh escaped its nose.
"Huff..."
Damian grinned. "Good beast."
He waved his hand again, and a portable carriage appeared from his storage ring. It was clearly something he had obtained from his master’s peak, modified slightly, and shamelessly treated as his own.
Within a short time, Draco was pulling the carriage forward.
Damian climbed inside and looked back at Miona with a bright smile. "Now we can move while you fulfill your promise, right?"
Miona’s face darkened.
Serina laughed softly. "A promise is a promise, little sister."
Miona clenched her fists.
In the end, she could only enter the carriage.
Soon, Serina calmly poured tea while Damian leaned back comfortably.
Even worse, Damian had somehow ended up lying with his head on Miona’s lap while Miona fed him grapes with a stiff expression.
Damian smiled in pure satisfaction. "Good. This is what I call efficient travel."
Borin, Lareth, and Maren walked beside the carriage with dark expressions.
Maren muttered, "Damn it."
Lareth sighed. "He really turned the mission into a banquet."
Borin stared ahead and gritted his teeth. "I hate that it’s actually faster this way."
Inside the carriage, Damian closed his eyes and smiled.
"Being reliable is truly difficult."
