Chapter 137: Righteous Elder My Ass
Very few people knew the truth about Selvara.
Most people saw her as a righteous, strict, and cold sword elder. They believed she followed rules, valued discipline, and always kept her promises.
The last part about keeping her promises was true. Everything else was bullshit.
Selvara kept her promises because, to her, a promise was something she personally chose to carry. Once she gave her word, not even death could make her break it.
As for being righteous, kind, or fair?
Those were all bullshit.
Those were only faces other people placed on her because they had no idea what was actually underneath.
In reality, Selvara was a demon.
A crazy one.
She was ruthless, possessive, selfish, and terrifyingly willing to do anything for her own interests.
If she decided someone belonged to her, she would protect them without caring who stood in the way.
Hell, she did not even truly care about rules, reputation, respect, or seniority, no matter who the other person was. Those things only mattered when they were useful.
That was also why, when Arven had once mentioned Selvara’s disciple token to Nolan, he did not help him search for it.
At the time, Arven had thought that giving Nolan the idea of becoming Selvara’s partner would motivate him to grow stronger.
Who would have thought someone else would actually obtain the token?
Worse, instead of motivating Nolan to compete, it only made him even more agitated, eventually leading to all these problems.
Arven leaned back in his chair and rubbed his forehead. "Damn that bastard... I really need to teach him more seriously."
Aside from his disciple, his attention also returned to the scandal currently spreading across the cultivation world.
This news could not be allowed to grow endlessly.
If it became even crazier, if more rumors connected Nolan to demonic cultivation, or if the Heavenly Sword Sect’s name suffered too much...
Arven swallowed slightly.
Beneath all the mockery and cold smiles, Selvara genuinely cared about the sect in her own twisted way.
If she decided Nolan had become a threat to it, even Arven might not be able to stop her.
The most ridiculous part was that Selvara’s cultivation realm was lower than his.
Yet in actual combat...
Arven’s mouth twitched, and his body shuddered slightly.
He did not even want to think about it.
Arven stared at the ceiling for a long moment before letting out another exhausted sigh. "Damn you, Nolan."
His eyes slowly became sharp. "I really need to get serious before that demon decides to solve everything herself."
---
Selvara left the main peak with a small, surprisingly amused smirk on her face. "Hehe."
She was genuinely entertained this time. After all, it was rare to see Arven wearing such a dark expression.
Still, Selvara quickly forgot about it as her attention shifted toward something much more interesting. "Vivian... your work is really good."
The scandal had spread much faster than Selvara expected.
Not only had Nolan’s hidden courtesan house history been exposed, even darker rumors about forbidden dual cultivation methods had started appearing.
Whether every detail was true or not did not matter much to Selvara.
What mattered was that Nolan’s reputation was already bleeding.
Once a reputation started bleeding, stopping it was much harder than stopping an actual wound.
Selvara looked toward the distant sky and smiled faintly. "Hehe."
That soft laugh would have terrified most Heavenly Sword Sect disciples if they had heard it.
After all, Selvara rarely laughed, and whenever she did, someone was usually about to suffer.
A moment later, she suddenly remembered the date. "Looking at the time, that perverted disciple of mine should return tomorrow."
His hunting mission had already taken several days, and knowing Damian, he was probably enjoying himself far too much now that he had escaped her training.
Selvara’s smile became slightly colder as she remembered something else. "Tomorrow is also already his holiday."
She knew that even if she returned to her mountain peak, Damian would probably be nowhere to be seen.
Whenever he had a holiday, he always ended up spending time around women.
Selvara looked toward the direction of Heavenly Palace. "Since I have time, I should go talk to Vivian."
She also wanted to ask exactly how much information Vivian had uncovered about Nolan.
The current scandal was useful, but Selvara wanted to know whether Vivian had found anything more serious.
Something that could truly destroy him if necessary. After all, this was the person who had destroyed her grand-disciple’s life.
More importantly, Selvara also wanted to take a look at Violetta and see how she was doing in Heavenly Palace.
Selvara directly raised one hand, and soon, a silver flying sword appeared in front of her.
HUM!
The sword quickly enlarged and floated above the ground.
Selvara stepped onto it without hesitation.
A moment later, silver sword light flashed across the mountain peak.
WHOOSH!
Her figure disappeared into the sky, flying directly toward Heavenly Palace.
High above the clouds, Selvara stood calmly on the flying sword as the wind rushed past her.
A faint smile remained on her lips. "Vivian... let us see what else you have found."
Her eyes slowly became calmer. "And Violetta... let us see how much my grand-disciple has changed."
---
Damian, Akane, and Raika finally arrived back at the Heavenly Sword Sect.
The moment they passed through the sect gates, Damian stretched his arms and sighed happily. "Damn... finally back."
Akane smiled. "You sound like we were gone for months."
Raika said flatly, "He is dramatic."
Damian ignored her and suddenly looked at the date on a nearby spiritual notice board.
The moment he saw it, he froze.
A second later, his grin slowly widened. "Wait... today is..."
Akane blinked. "What?"
Damian’s lips gradually curved into a huge grin. "Damn. To think it’s already this date."
Raika narrowed her eyes. "Why are you smiling like that?"
Damian immediately looked righteous. "Nothing. I just remembered that today is a very special day."
Inside, however, his heart was already laughing wildly.
"The gifting chances finally refreshed again!"
After several days of waiting, he could finally open his precious treasure chests once more.
Damian glanced at Akane, then looked back at Raika. His grin became even wider.
"And two of them are standing right beside me. What a lucky situation."
Raika’s eyes turned colder. "Your face looks suspicious."
Damian coughed. "You misunderstand me."
"Liar," Raika said.
Akane laughed softly.
