Chapter 131: Garan Gets Outplayed Badly
Damian sat at the front of the flashy cart, casually holding the horse reins.
Akane and Raika stayed inside the cart, pretending to be rich young mistresses while hiding their real cultivation auras.
While the cart slowly moved deeper into Redstone Valley, Damian’s senses had already spread around him, even though he looked completely relaxed.
His eyes glanced at the cliffs, boulders, and narrow turns.
Soon, after a while, his lips slowly curved upward.
"Found you."
Just as he expected, a dark figure suddenly jumped down from the cliff ahead and landed in the middle of the road.
A scarred man stood there with a dark saber on his back and a cruel grin on his face.
It was Garan Blackscar.
The horse immediately neighed in fear and stopped.
Garan looked at Damian sitting at the front of the cart, then laughed coldly. "How stupid can you be?"
Damian raised an eyebrow. "Oh?"
Garan sneered. "Driving a flashy cart through my territory with two beautiful women inside? Did you really think I had left Redstone Valley?"
His grin became wider. "You rich idiots are truly hopeless."
Damian looked at him for a moment.
Then he suddenly grinned.
And for some reason, the way Damian grinned made Garan’s heart twitch.
Before Garan could react, thunder flashed beneath Damian’s feet.
CRACKLE!
Damian disappeared from the front of the cart, and in the next instant, he appeared directly in front of Garan, shocking him.
Garan instinctively reached for his saber, but Damian had already taken a deep breath and unleashed [Lion Roar] at point-blank range.
ROOOOAAAR!
The violent sound wave exploded straight into Garan’s face, cracking the ground and twisting the air under the force of the roar.
Garan’s body trembled violently as the roar slammed into his head, chest, and meridians.
For a brief moment, his Qi circulation was completely disrupted.
After all, even though Garan was a Ninth Stage Foundation Establishment cultivator, Damian’s [Lion Roar] was a Noble Grade martial art.
Not only that, Damian’s Qi was far stronger and purer than ordinary Foundation Establishment cultivators.
With his Chaos Qi and powerful foundation, the roar was not something Garan could ignore just because his realm was higher.
Garan staggered back and spat out a mouthful of blood as he looked at Damian with shock and disbelief.
"What the hell is this? How can you be this strong? Aren’t you just a stupid horse driver?!"
Damian cracked his neck and smiled brightly. "That is where you made your first mistake."
Garan frowned. "What?"
Damian pointed at himself. "You thought I was the driver."
Then he pointed at the cart. "You thought they were helpless young mistresses."
Finally, his grin became sharper. "And you thought the trap was too stupid to be a trap."
Garan’s expression froze.
Damian’s eyes flashed with amusement. "Congratulations, Garan Blackscar. You’re the stupid one."
Garan’s face turned ugly.
Only now did he realize it.
This was not a rich merchant group.
This was a hunting party.
And worse, he had walked straight into their trap because he overthought everything.
---
Garan Blackscar staggered backward, his face pale and ugly because his Qi was still unstable thanks to Damian’s [Lion Roar].
For a moment, he actually looked half-defeated.
At the same time, the curtains of the flashy cart were pushed open, and soon, Akane and Raika stepped out of the cart.
The two of them looked at Garan, then at Damian, and both were quite shocked.
Even Akane’s playful smile had faded a little.
They already knew Damian was strong.
Raika especially knew this better than most people. After all, she had fought him before.
That was also one of the reasons why she was interested in him. But even she had not expected Damian to suppress Garan this easily.
After all, this was a real Ninth Stage Foundation Establishment rogue cultivator.
And this man was not an ordinary one either. He had survived several hunting missions from sect disciples.
And yet Damian had subdued him easily with one sudden attack.
For a brief moment, both women had the same strange thought.
"Could his perverted and shameless behavior just be an act?"
But the moment that thought appeared, both of them rejected it almost instantly.
After meeting Damian several times, they were sure of one thing.
His shamelessness and perverted nature were far too natural to be fake.
Damian did not care what they were thinking. He simply looked at Garan and smiled. "Alright. Now that he’s caught, let’s bring him back."
Akane nodded. "That was faster than expected."
Raika stepped forward calmly. "Wait. I’ll put a sealing talisman on him first."
But the moment Raika reached into her sleeve, Garan’s body suddenly trembled.
His bloodshot eyes widened with rage. "How dare you..."
Damian raised an eyebrow. "Hm?"
Garan’s fingers dug into the ground, cracking the stone beneath his hand. "How dare you look at me like that?"
His voice became hoarse, twisted with humiliation and anger. "Do you think you’ve already won? Do you think one cheap sneak attack is enough to defeat me?"
The next second, a red-black aura erupted from his body.
BOOM!
The ground cracked beneath his feet, and the air around him became cold, bloody, and foul.
Dark veins crawled across Garan’s neck and face, while his Qi turned violent and sinister.
Damian looked at him and blinked.
"Battle power-up from a villain. As expected."
But Akane and Raika’s expressions changed completely.
Raika’s eyes became sharp. "Demonic Qi."
Akane’s smile disappeared. "Damn it. To think he was a demonic cultivator."
Damian froze, then slowly turned toward them. "Wait. Demonic cultivator?"
Raika nodded coldly. "Yes."
Damian looked back at Garan, whose aura was growing more dangerous by the second.
His mouth twitched. "Damn it. What the hell is this?"
He pointed at Garan with disbelief. "I only accepted a hunting mission, and now I’m meeting a hidden demonic cultivator?"
Then Damian’s face became strange.
"Wait... An unexpected demonic cultivator appears during my first mission after training... Am I also becoming a protagonist?"
The thought made Damian’s scalp go numb.
Because if he really had protagonist luck, then trouble would definitely never stop coming.
