Chapter 128: Hunting Bad Cultivators Sounds Fun
Damian walked into the Mission Hall with a relaxed smile on his face.
After being trapped under Selvara’s hell training for so many days, just seeing other people felt strangely refreshing.
The Mission Hall was still as busy as usual.
Disciples moved in and out, some checking mission boards, some reporting completed tasks, and some arguing over contribution points.
Damian looked around casually, then suddenly stopped as he looked to the side.
Not far away, two familiar figures stood near one of the mission boards.
One had bright red hair and a lively smile.
The other had long yellow hair, sharp yellow eyes, and a calm face that looked almost emotionless.
Both of them were his treasure chests.
Raika and Akane.
Damian grinned, but he suddenly frowned a little as he remembered that the gifting period had not refreshed yet.
"Damn. What a waste. Two beautiful treasure chests are standing right here, but I can’t open them yet."
Still, even though he could not give gifts right now, that did not mean he could not talk to them.
Or flirt a little.
And maybe raising their favorability first would increase the chance of a critical reward later.
Damian soon walked over to them with a smile. "Akane, Raika. What a coincidence meeting you here."
Akane turned around first, and her eyes lit up. "Oh? Damian?"
Raika also looked at him calmly. "You are here."
Damian placed one hand behind his back and smiled. "Of course. Did you miss me?"
Raika stared at him silently.
Akane giggled. "You really say whatever comes to mind, don’t you?"
Damian looked at Raika. "That silence hurts more than rejection."
Raika said flatly, "Good."
Damian’s mouth twitched. "Still as cold as ever."
Akane smiled and asked, "So, why are you here?"
Damian shrugged. "Master told me to take a mission for real battle training."
Raika’s eyes moved slightly. "Elder Selvara?"
Damian nodded. "Yes. Apparently, beating me every day is still not enough training."
Akane laughed softly. "That sounds like Elder Selvara."
Damian looked at them and asked, "What about you two? What are you doing here?"
Akane pointed at the mission board. "We’re choosing a mission too. We need sect contribution points."
Raika nodded. "Resources are not free."
Damian rubbed his chin. "True."
Then his eyes suddenly brightened. "In that case, why don’t we team up?"
Raika immediately frowned slightly. "No."
But before she could fully refuse, Akane clapped her hands together and smiled. "Sure. Why not?"
Raika turned her head and looked at her. "Akane."
Akane smiled back. "What? It should be more fun this way."
Raika’s expression did not change, but her eyes clearly showed disagreement.
Damian quickly nodded. "Exactly. Teaming up is safer, more efficient, and more enjoyable."
Raika looked at him. "You only added the last part because of Akane."
Damian placed a hand on his chest. "Raika, your misunderstanding of me is too deep."
Raika said calmly, "It is accurate."
Akane covered her mouth and laughed.
Damian coughed and quickly changed the topic. "Anyway, my master only told me to take a mission. She didn’t say I couldn’t team up."
Akane nodded. "Then what kind of mission do you want?"
Damian smiled. "A core disciple mission."
Akane raised an eyebrow. "Core disciple mission?"
Raika’s eyes became a little sharper.
Damian continued, "And it has to be a hunting mission."
Akane looked at the board. "Hunting mission, huh? Beasts or cultivators?"
Damian’s grin became wider. "Of course, bad cultivators."
Akane blinked.
Raika looked at him quietly.
Damian cracked his neck lightly. "After all, this is training. If I only hunt beasts, that is useful, but not enough."
His eyes became sharper. "It’s better to hunt those bad cultivators. At least they can think, scheme, run, ambush, and fight back properly."
Akane’s smile became more serious. "I see."
Raika stared at Damian for a moment, then finally said, "Not bad."
Damian immediately looked happy. "Was that praise?"
Raika looked away. "Barely."
Damian sighed. "Why do all cold women praise people like that?"
Akane laughed again, then turned toward the mission board. "Alright, let’s choose one."
Damian stepped beside them and looked at the core disciple mission list.
Several dangerous missions were written there, each with high contribution point rewards.
Damian’s eyes moved across the list one by one.
Most of them were hunting missions against demonic beasts, rogue cultivators, or small evil groups causing trouble near sect territory.
Some missions required hunting Fifth Stage or Sixth Stage Foundation Establishment targets.
Some required dealing with groups of bandits.
Some even involved investigating strange disappearances in nearby towns.
Damian looked at those missions for a moment, then shook his head. "Too easy."
Akane blinked. "Too easy?"
Raika looked at him calmly. "Do not get arrogant."
Damian smiled. "I’m not arrogant. I just need pressure."
Then his eyes suddenly stopped on one mission.
---
[Core Disciple Mission]
[Target: Garan Blackscar]
[Realm: Ninth Stage Foundation Establishment Realm]
[Identity: Rogue cultivator and murderer]
[Mission: Hunt and kill Garan Blackscar]
[Reward: 8,000 contribution points]
[Warning: Target is cunning, cruel, and experienced in ambush tactics.]
---
Damian’s smile slowly widened. "This one."
Akane read the mission details and raised an eyebrow. "Ninth Stage Foundation Establishment?"
Raika’s yellow eyes became sharper. "He is three stages above you."
Damian nodded. "Exactly. That’s why it’s good."
Akane crossed her arms. "This is not a normal sparring match. Rogue cultivators like this are dangerous because they don’t care about rules."
Damian grinned. "Good. I don’t want rules either."
Raika stared at him silently for a moment.
Then she said, "You are stupid."
Damian’s mouth twitched. "Can you call it brave instead?"
Raika scoffed. "No."
Akane smiled helplessly. "Honestly, it is risky. But with the three of us, it should be possible."
Damian immediately pointed at her. "See? Akane understands."
Raika looked at Akane. "You are encouraging him."
Akane shrugged. "A little danger is fine. Besides, he is Elder Selvara’s disciple, and we are not weak either."
Damian nodded proudly. "Exactly. I am a genius, and you two are also geniuses. So you two aren’t scared at all, right?"
Akane smiled. "Not scared."
Raika said flatly, "I am not scared. I am concerned about your brain."
Damian sighed. "Your concern is very touching."
Raika ignored him and looked at the mission again. "If we take this, we plan properly. No rushing."
Damian nodded. "Agreed."
Akane smiled brightly. "Then it’s decided?"
Damian reached out and pulled the mission slip from the board. "Decided."
The moment he held the slip, his grin became sharper.
"Garan Blackscar, huh? Good. Let’s see how much pressure a Ninth Stage Foundation Establishment murderer can give me."
