Chapter 510: Chapter 507: Do You Want Me to Go Back?

"Can I take a shower here later?" the head nurse asked.

Zhang Hao had no reason to refuse, so he knocked on the bathroom door and said to the Director of Surgery inside, "The head nurse is here and needs to use our bathroom later."

The Director of Surgery let out a sound and quickly turned off the water, "Isn’t her bathroom the same as ours? Can’t she shower there?"

"The water in my room isn’t hot for some reason, and I’m too lazy to change rooms. I’ll just take a quick shower here later," the head nurse explained.

The Director of Surgery quickly finished up and then called out to Zhang Hao to come out for a smoke.

Zhang Hao wasn’t much of a smoker, but the Director of Surgery smoked one cigarette after another.

They didn’t return until the head nurse had finished showering and sent them a message.

The next morning, the three of them set off together to go learn.

On the way, the head nurse was a bit nervous. She had attended learning sessions before.

But back then, she was always accompanied by the elder director, and she would just pretend to listen.

Now that it was their turn to take charge, she was understandably nervous.

"Mr. Zhang, you don’t seem nervous at all. Have you been to these learning sessions often?"

"I remember you used to work at City Hospital," the head nurse asked.

"I only worked there for a few days. The dean’s son at City Hospital was a classmate of mine, and we didn’t get along very well in school."

"So, when I worked there, he often made things difficult for me. Luckily, my skills were solid, and once I came to our hospital, I was able to establish myself," Zhang Hao explained.

"Did City Hospital also send someone this time? Will you run into acquaintances?" the Director of Surgery asked.

Zhang Hao shrugged. He wasn’t sure, but even if there were acquaintances, he didn’t have any issues with his former colleagues.

The only issue was with the dean’s son.

As long as the dean’s son wasn’t there, it wouldn’t matter.

Upon arriving at the learning venue, the three of them got out. It was actually a hotel.

The learning space was a lounge, and it was already filled with people when the three of them arrived.

The lecturer was an elderly female expert with grey hair. Behind her, an electronic blackboard displayed an introduction about this doctor.

She had studied abroad and had always been on the front lines, although she had retired.

She still contributed her expertise in the hospital. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Zhang Hao and the others found a fairly front-row seat and settled down.

As soon as they sat down, someone brought them paper, pens, and water.

Sitting next to Zhang Hao was a female doctor who glanced at him and felt he looked familiar.

After her probing, Zhang Hao finally admitted who he was.

"So you are Elder Qin’s apprentice! I’ve heard about you but never met you. You’re quite young; Elder Qin has good judgment," she said.

Zhang was a bit flattered by her compliment, "Well, I didn’t really learn much from Elder Qin."

"That’s true. I heard Elder Qin intended for you to marry his granddaughter, but you didn’t agree."

"But I know his granddaughter. She works with you, doesn’t she? She must be quite capable," the female doctor inquired.

Thinking about Qin Miaoke’s abilities, Zhang Hao reflected that initially, she didn’t understand much.

So after all this time, she hadn’t made any mistakes in her work.

Her capabilities were still evident, and besides, being away from home, he couldn’t bad-mouth Qin Miaoke.

"Elder Qin’s granddaughter is still excellent; it’s just that under my supervision, her talents are somewhat underutilized. I have already suggested that she move somewhere where she can truly flourish."

"However, she didn’t agree, and Elder Qin insisted on her staying by my side for peace of mind, fearing that she might be bullied elsewhere."

Zhang Hao said this, and the female doctor beside him chuckled, "Then I guess you accepted Elder Qin’s entreaties, Doctor Zhang."

"You’ve become his granddaughter’s son-in-law; the future is surely brighter than now, and it’s rare that his granddaughter wants to stay by your side."

Zhang Hao just smiled and didn’t speak further; he had only met this female doctor once, and speaking too much was pointless.

The female doctor on the stage passionately recounted her life’s struggles.

Zhang Hao had initially planned to learn something, but as he listened, today’s event seemed more like a recount of her brilliant life.

Halfway through, Zhang Hao grew restless.

Turning around, he saw that the Director of Surgery had already started dozing off.

It seemed he wasn’t the only one who found it dull; coming here under the guise of learning to hear someone talk about their brilliant life was really uninteresting.

After barely enduring the morning, the group exited from the reception hall.

Gathering in small groups, Zhang Hao quickly found a seat in a rest area.

The head nurse and Director of Surgery hurried over as well.

"I thought we might learn something useful today, but it turned out to be that old lady on stage, talking about how tough she had it."

"With medical science advancing so much, the issues she faced back then probably won’t be encountered by us anymore."

"I don’t even know who will be lecturing tomorrow, but if it’s going to be like this, I think we might as well head back home."

While the head nurse was saying all this, Zhang Hao wasn’t really listening; he was busy on his phone, chatting with He Qianhui.

When he left yesterday, he repeatedly told He Qianhui not to go to entertainment venues.

Yet last night, she ended up going to a bar to drink, although fortunately, she didn’t drink much and managed to get back sober.

After finding out, Zhang Hao quickly took her to task, threatening to teach her a lesson when he got back.

He Qianhui naturally didn’t take it to heart, instead laughing and saying, "Who are you going to teach a lesson? You want to teach me? How is your learning going over there?"

Zhang Hao said, "It was just a bunch of scammers who misled us here, promising learning, when in fact we haven’t learned anything."

"We’re debating whether to just go back tomorrow. Do you want me to stay a few more days, or should I head back tomorrow?"

Zhang Hao threw the question to He Qianhui, letting her decide.

He Qianhui thought for a moment and said, "It seems to be up to you. If you want to return, then come back."

"If you wish to stay there for a couple more days, I don’t mind. So everything depends on you."

Hearing this, Zhang Hao quickly said, "In that case, I think I’ll just go back tomorrow. Anyway, all I need is to notify my superiors, and then I can leave."

He had just put down his phone when He Qianhui replied, "Okay, then I’ll pick you up at the airport tomorrow. What time do you think you’ll be home?"

He Qianhui’s question made Zhang Hao fall silent.

When would he be home? He couldn’t say for sure now, only that he’d know once he boarded the train tomorrow.

To this, He Qianhui didn’t ask any further, just waiting for him to send her a message.
