Chapter 431: Chapter 428: Love of Sleep

"So, I purposely made a trip here before heading back,"

Qin Miaoke peeked her body out from behind Zhang Hao.

"Alright, now that we’ve met, can you leave?"

"We can arrange this matchmaking thing some other time. You should hurry back to deal with whatever you have going on," she added.

Chen Xun didn’t get angry but instead laughed, finding Qin Miaoke’s various reactions quite amusing.

"It seems like it’s our first meeting, why are you so afraid of me? Is it because we’re not familiar with each other, or are you resisting the idea of this arranged meeting?"

Zhang Hao didn’t want to get caught between the two of them, so he yanked Qin Miaoke, who was standing behind him.

"You’re a grown woman. Speak your mind openly; don’t hide behind me. I’m not a mother hen protecting her chick."

Suddenly being pulled out like that, Qin Miaoke was a bit nervous.

Having no other choice, she had to face the challenge head-on.

"When are you leaving?"

Chen Xun looked at his watch and said, "The high-speed train at 7:30 PM."

"Then come with me," Qin Miaoke said.

Watching the two leave the department, Zhang Hao knew he had to hurry up and pack his things to get home as soon.

Otherwise, if anything went sideways between the two of them, he, the director, would have to step in and mediate.

He was just a doctor, not a love guru.

Qin Miaoke pulled Chen Xun into a deserted emergency exit.

"I’ve rejected this matchmaking thing several times with my grandfather. He’s been stubborn about it. I’m still young, and I don’t want to rush into marriage."

"I don’t want my personal feelings to affect my career development either," she continued.

"Although I don’t know why you agreed to meet me, I hope you understand that love can’t be forced."

"Both you and I should be looking for someone we like, not just settling for someone suitable to spend our lives with."

"Don’t worry, I’ll speak to my grandfather about today’s incident; I won’t let him blame you for anything."

"I’ll take any responsibility myself. But I also thank you for taking the time to come and see me."

"If we have the chance to meet again, I’ll treat you to a meal. I’ve finished work now. It’s time for me to head back."

After Qin Miaoke finished pouring out her heartfelt words, she walked out of the emergency exit.

She then returned to the department as if nothing had happened, only to find that Zhang Hao had already disappeared.

After tidying up her things and changing out of her white coat, she prepared to leave work for home.

But before she could leave the department, she was stopped by that man.

"Was what you just said true? Or how do you know I don’t like you?"

"How do you know that meeting you was definitely against my will, even though I’ve only seen your photo?"

"I think Sir Qin’s granddaughter can’t be a bad girl, but this time I really am short on time."

"I can’t sit down and chat with you leisurely. After I deal with my matters, I’ll come back," he continued.

"I hope you can spare me more time then. And what’s your WeChat ID? I’d like to add you as a friend."

Based on her own intuition, Qin Miaoke thought Chen Xun was a bit out of his mind.

But in front of so many people, it wasn’t good to reject him again, so she took out her phone, showed the QR code, and let Chen Xun scan it.

"I’ve sent the request."

Qin Miaoke planned to find an excuse to accept it later, but Chen Xun seemed to adopt an attitude that if she didn’t accept it now, he wouldn’t let her go, blocking her path.

After Qin Miaoke accepted his friend request, Chen Xun finally left, satisfied.

Regarding Chen Xun’s actions, Qin Miaoke felt an inexplicable discomfort.

Fortunately, tonight I don’t have to spend time dining and chatting with a stranger.

At least I can go home, take a bath, and rest.

By the time Qin Miaoke got delayed, Zhang Hao had already driven back home.

Upon entering the door, he found the house extremely quiet. He wondered if it was already this late, could He Qianhui still not have gotten off work?

Just as he was about to take out his phone to call her, out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a pair of shoes on the shoe rack.

If he remembered correctly, He Qianhui was wearing these flat shoes when she left for work in the morning.

He had bought her those shoes in the first place.

If the shoes were here, either she had come back at noon with Qianhui, or she had returned after finishing the meeting at the company.

The most critical thing was that He Qianhui’s favorite pair of pink slippers were not here.

With a try-it-and-see attitude, he went to the bedroom, pushed open the door, and found He Qianhui lying on the bed, sound asleep.

It was almost seven o’clock in the evening. How could she still be asleep?

Worrying she might be ill, Zhang Hao approached the bedside. Before he even stretched out his hand, He Qianhui woke up.

Groggy, she felt someone by the bed, and upon opening her eyes, she saw that Zhang Hao had gotten off work and come home.

He Qianhui quickly picked up her phone to check the time, saw that it was already seven in the evening, and sat up from the bed abruptly.

"Have I slept this long?"

"You’ve been sleeping a long time?"

He Qianhui, holding her forehead, said, "This morning, I went to the company for an early meeting, but once I got there, I realized it didn’t really concern me."

"I made a round at the office and then came back, ordered takeout, and went to my room to sleep."

"I thought I’d just nap for a bit before getting up to clean the room and go buy groceries, but somehow I got more and more sleepy."

"I think if you hadn’t come home from work, I might still be asleep."

He Qianhui got out of bed and went to the kitchen, her first move was to open the fridge to check if there was anything to eat left.

If not, the two of them would have to go to the supermarket immediately.

At this moment, Zhang Hao, as if by magic, brought the vegetables in front of He Qianhui.

"You don’t need to worry about such trivial matters. I’ve already bought them on the way home, even your favorite shrimp. Let’s cook some in a bit."

At this point, He Qianhui was quite annoyed with herself, wondering what was wrong with her today to be so sleepy.

But soon, Zhang Hao provided her with a reasonable answer: it was because of the overindulgence the previous night.

So that she wasn’t in good form today, but He Qianhui felt that her stamina shouldn’t have declined to this extent.

In the past, she could manage several times in one night without being like this.

Thinking about it, her endurance must have decreased, and she needed to spend some time improving it.

Seeing her still not fully awake, Zhang Hao didn’t have the heart to let her go to the kitchen to cook.

He put on an apron himself, prepared to wash vegetables and cook.

He Qianhui also felt sorry for his hard work.

"My Mr. Zhang, how can I let you cook personally? Leave the small matter of cooking to me."

He Qianhui took the apron from his hands and without saying a word, started bustling about.

Seeing this, Zhang Hao was also filled with satisfaction, constantly praising her.

"My wife is the best. You know how to take care of your husband."

Flattering words like these were something Zhang Hao was never stingy to say, and He Qianhui always appreciated them.

"Go sit down and rest in the living room. We’ll keep it simple tonight, and I’ll cook you a big meal on the weekend."

Normally, by six o’clock, He Qianhui would be preparing dinner; now it was already seven, so time was somewhat tight.
