Chapter 430: Chapter 427: The Date

The phone rang several times, but no one answered.

He Qianhui decided to head back, her body still not having recovered from the passion of last night.

Zhang Hao went back to properly rest, as he had a three-day holiday ahead, which he couldn’t afford to waste.

Meanwhile, Zhang Hao, who had just come out of the operating room, was instructing the family about the patient’s post-surgery situation.

Before he could finish, Qin Miaoke dragged him away.

The remaining matters had to be handed over to other doctors to handle.

Being pulled along by Qin Miaoke, Zhang Hao kept asking what was the matter.

Regarding the matter, Qin Miaoke was vague and hesitant, unwilling to speak directly.

It was not until they reached a secluded spot that Qin Miaoke finally disclosed her concerns.

Elder Qin had always been keen on matching her with Zhang Hao—one was his favorite granddaughter and the other was the apprentice he took under his wing halfway.

No matter what the future held, the Qin family’s medical heritage would not be passed on to outsiders.

Most importantly, Zhang Hao’s character had been personally tested by him.

Good or bad, Elder Qin was quite confident, believing his granddaughter would never suffer if she ended up with him.

However, Zhang Hao played dumb about this matter.

There was always something missing for the matchmaking to be finalized, and later on, Qin Miaoke also wised up; since he wasn’t interested, there was no fun in forcing him.

Qin Miaoke did not have marriage on her mind and aspired to work hard in her career.

But... Elder Qin was still worried and roamed around trying to find a suitable man for her.

It must be said that, highly respected in the medical community, Elder Qin only pointed her toward outstanding individuals who would be coveted by anyone in a crowd.

It just so happened that Qin Miaoke wasn’t interested, yet the good man, persuaded by Elder Qin, had already taken a flight over today.

They had agreed to meet after work, and Elder Qin had already shown the man her picture; his first impression of Qin Miaoke was not bad.

Thus, it was now Zhang Hao who was confused. If she did not want to meet the man, she could just refuse.

So why drag him into this?

"So why have you dragged me here now?"

Qin Miaoke, with her arms crossed, looked quite disgruntled, "I don’t want to go tonight, but my grandpa insists that I must meet him. Why don’t you come with me?"

Zhang Hao inwardly cursed. How could he get involved in this kind of thing?

"I’m not going. Do you think I’m your sidekick or what? I have to go home for dinner tonight."

Qin Miaoke didn’t catch the subtext in his words and patted her chest confidently.

"I’ll treat you to dinner tonight!"

At that moment, Zhang Hao’s gaze was very subtle as he looked down at Qin Miaoke.

He thought the girl must have some kind of disconnect; he had made his words clear, yet she still hadn’t understood.

Qin Miaoke, filled with gratitude, thought that for such a small matter, Zhang Hao had no reason to refuse.

It would only occupy an hour of his time, maybe even less.

Afterwards, she would treat him to a meal as a token of thanks. He wouldn’t lose out in any way.

"I’m not going."

Zhang Hao thought since a tactful refusal wasn’t getting through, he’d have to be more direct.

Qin Miaoke was shocked, realizing things were heading in an unwelcome direction. She froze on the spot.

"You... What did you say? If you don’t go, what am I supposed to do?"

"I don’t know, try asking someone else."

As for finding someone else in the hospital, Qin Miaoke truly couldn’t think of another suitable candidate on the spot.

She had no choice but to hold Zhang Hao’s arm and act coquettishly.

"Mr. Zhang, Mr. Zhang, just agree to do this for me once, okay? If you’re worried your girlfriend will find out and be upset, I’ll call her right now."

"I’ll explain the whole situation to her, and since she’s a woman, she should be able to understand how I’m feeling right now."

This time it was Zhang Hao who was at a loss for words; he couldn’t even begin to imagine what was going through this girl’s mind.

Pulling his arm free, Zhang Hao still looked at her seriously.

"I really can’t help you with this. There are so many people you could ask for help in the hospital; if it comes to it, just have the head of surgery go with you."

Qin Miaoke hastily shook her head in refusal.

And she didn’t forget to sneer a little; the head of surgery was already thirty-five, and at first glance, one could see he was a family man.

If she really let him pretend to be her boyfriend, that man would definitely see through it.

"Just help me this one time, I promise there won’t be a second time."

Zhang Hao always felt it was better to mind his own business than to get involved in such matters.

Besides, it was Elder Qin who had arranged the matchmaking date for Qin Miaoke. If he got involved, he might end up getting scolded by Elder Qin someday. Why bother!

So he spoke earnestly and at length, trying to make it clear to Qin Miaoke that he was powerless to assist her.

After all, it was just a matter of meeting the family. It’s not like they were going to immediately proceed with engagement, marriage, and having children.

Elder Qin’s earnest advice was aimed at giving his granddaughter the opportunity to meet more outstanding men.

In the end, Qin Miaoke still came up with a bad idea.

Initially, to rebel against her grandfather’s arbitrary decisions, she had played the role of a bad girl for a while.

It wouldn’t be too much to, prior to the matchmaking dinner, go home and pick out a couple of goth outfits and style her hair differently.

At least that would darken the impression she made on him; after all, everyone says "marry a wife for her virtue." It’s unlikely anyone would want to bring a crazy girl home.

Qin Miaoke suddenly felt that doing this was pretty pointless.

In the end, it would just be like throwing dirt on herself.

One day, if she fell for a man other than Zhang Hao,

she absolutely couldn’t let him know about this dark history.

Zhang Hao returned to his office, saw a few patients, and then prepared to go home from work.

Just as he was shutting down his computer, someone knocked on the office door. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖

Looking up, Zhang Hao saw a young man with a scholarly appearance.

His clothes were simple, and he looked like the kind of bright young guy who had just stepped out of a university gate.

"Hello, may I ask who you’re looking for?"

"Is there a nurse named Qin Miaoke here? I’m here to see her."

Qin Miaoke, who had not yet left work, was in the treatment room tidying up.

Separated by a door, she didn’t notice what was happening outside until Zhang Hao knocked on the door.

Qin Miaoke then came out, "What’s up? Are you assigning me work after hours?"

Zhang Hao was about to point toward the office entrance: "Someone is looking for you."

Qin Miaoke glanced in the direction of the office door; in an instant, she hid behind Zhang Hao.

"Damn it, how did this guy find me here? Didn’t we agree to meet at the restaurant?"

Hearing Qin Miaoke’s quiet grumbling, Zhang Hao also realized that this man must be the one she was supposed to meet for the matchmaking.

"Okay, my name is Chen Xun. I know it’s a bit abrupt to come here, but I just got a call that my advisor needs me back at the university urgently."
