Chapter 209: Chapter 206 Moving House

"And what about you, do you have a boy you like?" asked Zhang Hao.

Qin Miaoke rested her chin on her hand, "No, when I was in school, Grandpa expressly forbade me from dating."

"He said it would distract me from my studies and also said that the boys on campus weren’t all that impressive."

"Once you leave school, it’s very likely those feelings will go up in flames, and it’s better not to end up heartbroken after graduating."

"It’s better to wait until you enter society to find someone you like. I’m not the rebellious type."

"I just never thought that once I entered society, I would find that I have neither the time nor the energy to date."

"I’ve already changed jobs three times this year, and if it weren’t for my lack of success in other areas, I wouldn’t want to be a doctor; being a doctor is really too tough."

As Qin Miaoke spoke, she reminisced about her grandfather, who was rehired by the hospital even after reaching retirement age.

Now in his seventies or eighties, he still travels to major cities every day to mentor newcomers.

If my future turned out the same, how despairing that would be.

"Since you chose to be a doctor from the beginning, you should have considered that it would be like this."

"But what the future holds is uncertain, and maybe after a while, I won’t want to be a doctor anymore either," he said.

As soon as Zhang Hao said this, Qin Miaoke immediately objected.

"That won’t do. My grandpa said he has high hopes for your development in traditional medicine."

"He said that if none of his other students stand out, he’ll pass on his medical skills to you."

"It’s like being the Closed-door Disciple, and maybe I’ll even have to call you ’Senior Brother’ by then."

When Qin Miaoke said this, Zhang Hao didn’t feel very happy inside.

There’s an old saying: no one gets up early without a reason. The medical skills of old Chinese physicians must have been passed down through generations.

How could they be easily passed on to an outsider?

"Let’s eat first; when we’re done, I can head home."

Actually, Zhang Hao had been harboring a thought, which was to find a better apartment as soon as possible.

Something more spacious, a bit more comfortable to live in.

Upon returning home, he saw He Qianhui taking a shower. Zhang Hao knocked and asked for permission before pushing the door open.

The frosted shower curtain was only half-drawn, allowing a glimpse of He Qianhui’s silhouette.

"Why are you back so late today? I was thinking of calling you after my shower," she said.

"The master’s granddaughter came over; I went to help out, and after dinner, I rushed back. Xiaohui, do you think we should move to a new place?"

The shower curtain was flung open with a swish, water cascading down from the handheld showerhead in He Qianhui’s hand.

"What do you mean, isn’t this apartment good?"

"I feel it’s a bit small for the two of us. How about we find a bigger one? I’ll cover the rent," he suggested.

He Qianhui hesitated, "Isn’t it quite nice here? There’s no need to move, right?"

Zhang Hao stepped forward, "Don’t worry, I will definitely find a nice apartment. Then, we will have many more happy spots, won’t we?"

"Look at the kitchen now, it’s so small, it can barely fit one person. I want to be able to be intimate with you in the kitchen."

"Besides, don’t you like bathtubs? This place doesn’t even have room for one," he added.

Convinced by Zhang Hao’s words, He Qianhui indeed felt the apartment was a bit cramped.

Hardly enough room for two people to move around.

"Okay, then, you go look for an apartment. Let me know when we’re moving. I might have to go on a business trip in a few days."

"Hey, hey, don’t come closer; you’ll get all wet," she warned.

Zhang Hao unbuttoned his shirt as he approached.

"The water from this showerhead is nothing compared to yours," he said.

He Qianhui’s face immediately turned red upon hearing that, she lowered her head and quickly turned off the shower.

Zhang Hao embraced her in his arms and pressed her against the wall.

"Since you’re going on a business trip, shouldn’t I make sure to feed you well before you leave?"

He Qianhui didn’t speak, but she didn’t refuse either.

"We’ve been together for so long already, if you want something, just say it, I never manage to use up all my energy every day anyway."

With that, Zhang Hao began to kiss He Qianhui.

The next afternoon, taking advantage of his break, Zhang Hao started looking for a house near the hospital,

and, led by a real estate agent, visited several places, each with its pros and cons.

The ones he liked were too expensive, the cheap ones had bad layouts.

Just as the agent was about to run out of options, Zhang Hao casually pointed to a residential area and asked, "Do you have any properties in that complex?"

The agent immediately logged into his system and took a look before saying, "There’s one, but the rent is a bit pricey. You know this complex is really nice."

Zhang Hao didn’t hesitate: "Alright, then take me to see it."

The agent unlocked the door and entered; the large south-facing windows let all the sunlight pour in.

The bedroom was spacious, as were the kitchen and bathroom—enough for two people to live comfortably.

The extra bedroom could easily be turned into a study.

It was the kind of layout Zhang Hao dreamed of, and after inquiring about the rent, found that it could be reduced by another two hundred if they stayed for a long time.

Zhang Hao didn’t hesitate and rented it for a year on the spot. After signing the lease, he went back to pack up his things.

They moved in overnight, and both were so tired they collapsed on the bed without the energy to get up.

"I thought it would take you several days to find the right place, but you sorted it out in just one afternoon. You could have chosen to move during the weekend," He Qianhui said.

"I wanted to move in earlier; I’ve already paid for the utilities, and, moreover, there’s a big bathtub in the bathroom. Let me show you."

Zhang Hao led He Qianhui to the bathroom; the big bathtub was somewhat dirty, which was due to the room not being cleaned for a long time, leaving a layer of dust.

Upon seeing the bathtub, images of bathing in it already began to appear in He Qianhui’s mind.

"When I was with your cousin, he never agreed to install a bathtub at home, saying it was ostentatious but impractical." 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚

"But I’ve always wanted to take a bath, and I never thought that wish would finally come true."

Zhang Hao also knew that He Qianhui loved bathtubs, which was why he chose this place.

"Tomorrow I’ll call a cleaner to thoroughly clean the house inside and out."

He Qianhui nodded repeatedly, eager to start cooking in the new home, although they hadn’t bought much food.

They only had two packs of instant noodles and a few eggs; each cooked a bowl, ate a few bites hastily, and then hurried to sleep.

This house was very close to the hospital where Zhang Hao worked, and He Qianhui’s company was also nearby.

This way, both of their commutes were cut by more than half, allowing them to sleep an extra twenty minutes in the morning.

In the morning, Zhang Hao immediately headed to the hospital, and after finishing his rounds, thought of the still-messy house and decided to get a cleaner.

Lin Wan saw him rush out of the hospital after work for two days in a row and couldn’t help but be curious.

Today, she finally found the right opportunity to stop him.

"You’re in such a rush, what are you going to do, have a date?"

Zhang Hao let out an ’Oh’ and said, "I moved to a new place, I just need to get things in order."

"You moved? Where to? Do you need my help? I could come over after work and give you a hand. Housework really should be done by a woman."

Zhang Hao repeatedly waved his hands to refuse: "No need, two cleaners can handle it, I better go back now."

Watching Zhang Hao rush away, Lin Wan felt there was something odd about this situation.
