Chapter 208: Chapter 205 Excellent People

"Men and women don’t hand things to each other; shouldn’t your uncle avoid suspicion with your aunt? Did you peep on them?"

Qin Miaoke felt triumphant for having uncovered significant insider information and began to reassess Zhang Hao with new eyes.

The lie had been made up on the spot, not expecting Qin Miaoke to take it so seriously.

But since she did take it that way, could it be that she had had similar experiences?

"What’s in those boxes outside?"

"Books, kitchenware, and some dolls."

Zhang Hao came alone to the living room, where the cardboard boxes reached the height of his thigh, something he would have struggled to bring up himself if not for the movers’ help.

Tearing off the transparent tape and opening a box, he found pots, pans, ladles—all sorts of kitchenware.

The tableware all had a cute aesthetic, in shades of yellow and pink, clearly showing that the girl loved life.

After hanging up her clothes, Qin Miaoke finally came to the living room.

Seeing Zhang Hao bending over to take out plates and bowls, her eyes widened in alarm, "Slow, slow, slow down, be careful not to break them, I made these myself."

With her warning, Zhang Hao looked down at the items in his hands and suddenly found them even cuter.

"You’re so skilled with your hands, huh?"

"Just so-so. I just like to make little things. Here, give them to me."

During the handover, Zhang Hao was extremely cautious; the last thing he wanted was to be responsible for any damage.

After letting go, Qin Miaoke carried the plate to the kitchen, opened a cabinet door overhead with one hand, and tried to place the plate inside with both hands.

But she misjudged the height of the cabinet, and with a crack, several plates slipped from her grasp and shattered on the floor.

Hearing the noise from the kitchen, Zhang Hao hurried over. The first thing he saw was the mess on the floor.

"Are you hurt? Let me see."

"I..."

Before Qin Miaoke could say "I’m fine," Zhang Hao had already grabbed her hand to inspect it carefully.

Seeing no obvious wounds and no bleeding, he finally relaxed.

"I’ll clean this up. There’s a mall nearby; we can buy a few new plates to use for now."

Qin Miaoke puffed her cheeks as she watched Zhang Hao tidy up the ceramic pieces at his feet.

"Thank you. If it weren’t for you, I don’t know what I’d do. It’s just a pity about these plates; it took me a long time to make them."

While cleaning up, Zhang Hao responded, "No worries. When we have time, I’ll join you in making more. There seems to be a pottery gallery in the city."

Qin Miaoke crouched down, tilting her head to look at Zhang Hao, "My grandfather said he met you at a medical exchange event and you displayed impressive medical skills then."

Recalling the previous exchange event, for Zhang Hao, it had not been particularly beneficial, except for meeting some heavyweights.

And now, one of those heavyweight’s granddaughters had entered his life.

Zhang Hao suddenly felt as though it was all coming full circle.

"I can’t say I’m extraordinary. I just have a tad of talent in traditional Chinese medicine. With guidance from an experienced practitioner, there could be great improvement."

After cleaning up the mess, Zhang Hao found a plastic bag to dispose of it. He also thoughtfully took pen and paper, writing down a few words: "Contains ceramic fragments, handle with care."

He placed the note inside the bag and arranged the other items neatly.

Unfortunately, there were too few belongings for the size of the house, which still looked quite empty at first glance.

"If you really plan to stay here long-term, you should buy your own place. If you decide to move, you can just sell it," Zhang Hao suggested.

"I like to be as free as the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea. I don’t want to stay in one place for too long; renting is the best option for me," Qin Miaoke said.

Thinking of the status of the old Chinese medicine doctor, Qin Miaoke should have no worries about where to live.

"It was my lack of consideration. If anything I said earlier was offensive, I hope Miss Qin can forgive me."

"After all, I come from a small place and don’t have such a broad vision," Zhang Hao realized that his thinking was somewhat too limited.

Qin Miaoke chuckled, "It’s okay, but you are so attentive and so concerned about me."

"Which department are you in at the hospital? Can I commute with you so that you can see my progress?"

"Otherwise, grandfather will criticize me again for wasting time and energy and for constantly making him lose face."

He had thought that Qin Miaoke, having grown up under the care of an old Chinese medicine doctor, would be an extremely spoiled young lady.

Hearing her speak this way, it was clear she knew she had achieved nothing and couldn’t always rely on the legacy left by the previous generation.

"Alright, since your grandfather has entrusted you to me, I will certainly take good care of you. Tomorrow I’ll speak to the leadership at the hospital,"

"to see what position they can arrange for you, but don’t delude yourself that I will tolerate any misconduct."

Qin Miaoke abruptly stood up, hands on her hips.

The moment she stood up, her chest heaved, bouncing slightly.

"Don’t worry, I will work hard under you. After all, the books I’ve read haven’t all gone to waste, and in the future, I have to carry on the Qin family’s medical practices," she declared.

Seeing Qin Miaoke’s high aspirations, Zhang Hao crouched down and clapped his hands in applause.

A moment later, the two of them left the house.

The few plates they had were all broken, indeed requiring a temporary replacement.

Once at the mall, faced with a variety of plates, Qin Miaoke felt none of them looked good.

"These plates are so ugly, they’d spoil the taste of the food."

Zhang Hao didn’t think so and even found the same model of plates they used at home.

Picking up two, he said, "Just make do with these for now, and you can make a few more whenever you have the time, right?"

Qin Miaoke blinked her eyes, "Okay, I guess that will have to do."

After finishing their shopping, night had fallen, and after a tiring afternoon, Zhang Hao’s stomach was growling.

"I promised to treat you to a good meal, and now I’ll take you there. Can you handle spicy food? Let’s go have hot pot," he suggested.

They chose a well-known establishment, and as soon as they sat down, Qin Miaoke began marking her favorite dishes on the menu.

She checked off nearly the entire page and ordered two refreshing sour plum drinks.

Then she handed the menu to Zhang Hao to see what he liked to eat.

Zhang Hao wasn’t particularly passionate about hot pot.

"I won’t order, if we do, we won’t be able to finish it and it will go to waste," he said.

"We’ve spent the afternoon together, and I still don’t know if you have a girlfriend," Qin Miaoke asked.

Zhang Hao shook his head but quickly added, "Although I don’t have a girlfriend, I do have someone I like, but I haven’t confessed to her yet."

Qin Miaoke widened her eyes, "Who is it? If someone like you likes her, I think she must be quite outstanding."

"Only outstanding people deserve each other, at least that’s how I see it."

Thinking of He Qianhui, was she outstanding?

Perhaps before the divorce, she was just an ordinary housewife.

After the divorce, with her own job and career, she seemed to shine!
