Chapter 260: No One Supported Her
"Wendy, don’t leave, okay?" Michael remembered the time when the two of them took wedding photos, and it was clear that happiness was right in front of them.
But on the contrary, she had to leave for as long as three months.
For others, three months may not be much. But for Michael, the life he had now was something he had struggled to attain.
A family of four had not even been truly reunited for three months.
If it were somewhere else, maybe it would be better.
But it was Rheinsville City.
Michael also appreciated Timothy’s care for Wendy all those years. But Rheinsville City was a place Michael didn’t want to visit because it reminded Michael of how difficult those five years had been for Wendy.
Wendy’s memory was coming back little by little, but up until now, she hadn’t remembered anything important from the past.
What Rheinsville City brought to Wendy could not be a good memory either.
Because she was filled with hatred for Michael back then.
If Wendy had recovered her memory and she still wanted to choose to go back, Michael had nothing to say.
In this situation, Michael was afraid that she would recover her memories after going back and unable to bear them alone.
Yes, Michael was selfish.
He selfishly wanted to keep Wendy with him.
The original plan was for Michael to be kinder and better to her before she regained her memory.
So that when she remembered the past, she would also feel the love Michael now had for her.
During the three months, if Wendy regained her memory in Rheinsville City, and Michael was not with her, would she not come back at all?
In the relationship, Michael had an inferiority complex.
He didn’t dare to gamble with his relationship.
Michael also knew that this was all his own doing.
The damage he did to Wendy back then was all of his own makings.
Because of this, Michael blamed himself and was very afraid.
Besides, Michael didn’t lack money, so he didn’t want Wendy to work so hard.
He knew that Wendy had the ability, but with new projects, it was likely that she would have to spend the whole day in the company, and sleep time had to be fit into her schedule.
Wendy wanted to get the project on track in two months, so she wouldn’t be able to cope with it.
For either reason, Michael didn’t want Wendy to leave.
When Wendy listened to Michael’s pleading tone, she felt a great deal of distress in her heart.
With her eyes slightly lowered, she didn’t know what to say.
When Jake heard Wendy says she was going back, he stood up and asked, "Mommy,
you’re leaving? Where are you going?"
When Jake remembered Timothy’s visit today, he understood and said, "Did Mr. Woods come today to ask you to go back?"
"I don’t want Mommy to leave. I don’t want ..." Leah remembered what Wendy had told her when she was at the airport.
She threw the photo album aside, stood up and ran to Wendy’s side, reached out and hugged her leg and said with teary eyes, "Mommy, Leah doesn’t want you to leave. Leah wants us all to live here and never leave for the rest of our lives."
Michael saw the two children helping him and said, "Wendy, you can’t let go of the two children either, can you? If you take them with you, you’ll be too busy to take care of them. If you don’t take them with you, you won’t see them anymore."
Mary sat on the sofa with her head slightly raised and was still a little ignorant of the day’s events.
She was so engrossed with Timothy that it took her a moment to notice that the mood in the house today was not right at all.
Mary naturally didn’t want Wendy to go over to Timothy’s side and say, "Wendy, what’s going on that you can’t stay in Lake City to deal with? It’s not good for the four of you to be separated when you’re a family."
Now, not only did Michael disapprove of her leaving, but it seemed that no one else supported her.
Wendy closed her eyes. She felt irritated.
"I don’t want to leave either, and I know I have a good life now." Wendy finally exploded with emotion and said in a harsher tone, "But that’s my mentor and my lifesaver! How can I refuse to help him? Must I be a backstabber to stay in Lake City and be with you?"
Wendy rarely got angry.
This time, she was really out of options.
After saying so many good words, there was still no one to support her.
After finishing her speech in one breath, Wendy didn’t pay attention to them anymore.
This time, it was she who turned around and went into the bedroom in a huff.
The atmosphere stiffened up.
In the evening, Mary cooked dinner herself and called Wendy to eat.
Wendy had calmed down a bit after the afternoon.
However, when the family had dinner, the table was surprisingly quiet.
Leah had obviously been crying and her eyes were still red and swollen.
Wendy felt distressed to see this, so she reached out and put her favorite food in the bowl.
As usual, no one said anything.
Mary had wanted to persuade Wendy, but seeing the atmosphere, she did not say anything else.
The next day, Mary packed her bags and said to Wendy, "Wendy, Mom’s ticket is for later, so I’ll go first."
"I’ll drive you." Wendy found the car keys and helped Mary with her suitcase.
Mary finally came to Lake City for once, but there was such a disagreement this time.
She said she would take Mary out for sightseeing, but after this incident, no one had the heart to go sightseeing.
When Mary arrived at the station, Wendy said apologetically, "Mom, I’m sorry, but next time you come to Lake City, I’ll show you around."
"I don’t mind, but you and Michael ..." Mary didn’t say anything else in the middle of her sentence.
Sighing, Mary took the suitcase, patted Wendy’s shoulder, and turned around to get the ticket checked.
After sending Mary away, Wendy went back home.
The atmosphere at home was still very stiff.
Michael was no longer in the house. Wendy asked Zess, who said that Michael had gone to the office.
Michael was not at home, so Wendy didn’t know what to say to him at this time.
The next day was Monday. Wendy received a call from HG early in the morning that Ronald had arrived at MC.
Wendy had a simple breakfast and went to the office.
"Ronald said he was here to replace you, so you promised my dad to go back to HG?" Jill had just come to the office and was startled to see Ronald.
Ronald was an important designer at HG and although he was not as capable as Wendy, he was not bad either.
Since he came to MC at such a time, Jill guessed what was going on.
Sure enough, Jill saw Wendy nodding her head.
"What did you promise him for?" Jill shook her head with some disappointment and said, "I’m telling you, you shouldn’t let my dad take advantage of your gratitude because my dad is just that way. He knows that I don’t like learning design, but he insists that I do it anyway. You are now doing well in MC but he insists on transferring you back. I think he’s just looking for trouble."
Wendy didn’t want to continue this conversation with Jill, so she took a breath and said, "Where is he?"
Jill pointed to the lounge and said, "I told him to wait there."
Wendy put down her bag and then walked over to the lounge.
