Chapter 261: I Can’t Stop You, I Don’t Support You

Wendy walked to the lounge and saw a man sitting on the edge of his seat.

When Ronald heard footsteps, he stood up immediately, smiled, held out his hand and said, "Miss Swift."

"Hello." Wendy politely extended her hand and shook it with him and said, "Have a seat."

"It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other, Miss Swift, and I never thought we’d meet again in this way." Ronald spoke up.

"Don’t call me Miss Swift. It sounds weird. My name is Wendy, so you can just call me by my first name."

"Sorry, I’ll call you Mrs. Lucas then." Ronald nodded slightly to apologize, and said, "I think Mrs. Lucas knows why I’m here this time, so I’m not going to beat around the bush. Mrs. Lucas, whenever it’s convenient for you, hand over your work on the MC side to me as soon as possible."

"Let’s start now." Wendy stood up, took a deep breath, and then made an inviting gesture to Ronald.

Since she had decided to go to HG, it didn’t make much sense for Wendy to delay things for a day or two.

It would be better to go early and come back early.

Wendy took three days to hand over her work at hand at MC.

And for these three days, Michael was out early and back late every day. It was obvious that he was deliberately avoiding Wendy.

To be precise, he was avoiding the fact that Wendy was going to HG.

In the evening, Wendy was packing her luggage.

HG bought her a ticket for tomorrow morning.

Wendy didn’t really have much to bring with her. She brought some clothes with her, but she could buy everything else in Rheinsville City.

Michael hadn’t come back yet, and Zess and the two kids were in the bedroom helping Wendy pack.

Leah’s eyes looked teary and pitiful, making Wendy’s heart ache.

She reached out and hugged Wendy’s lap as she said in a choked voice, "Mommy, do you really have to go?"

Wendy stroked Leah’s head and said with a forced smile, "Mommy will only be gone for two or three months and will be back soon."

"Really?" Leah asked her with a choked sob.

"Really." Wendy nodded.

"Then can Mommy take Leah back with her, because Leah wants to stay with Mommy?" As she spoke, Leah’s eyes welled up with tears and her hands kept wiping them away.

Although Leah wanted to be with daddy, she definitely wanted to follow her mommy if she could only choose one of the two.

"Both you and Jake be good and wait for Mommy in Lake City, okay?" Wendy hugged Leah, and her eyes were a little teary.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to take Leah back with her.

Rather, she was going back this time to develop a new project, and her work would definitely be very tiring.

She would not have much time to take care of the two siblings during the day.

Now they were in Lake City, where they were going to school and getting used to life here.

It would be better for them to stay in Lake City than to follow Wendy to Rheinsville City.

And there was Michael here. Michael loved the two children so much and would be able to take care of them.

Leah cried even more.

"Okay, don’t cry anymore. If you keep crying, your eyes will swell up and you won’t be pretty." Wendy kissed Leah’s forehead and looked at Jake, who was understanding, and said, "After Mommy leaves, you and Leah have to go to school and listen to Daddy and Zess, okay?"

Jake nodded with a sullen expression on his face.

He, too, was sad to see Wendy go.

But he knew that Mommy was not leaving to go have fun on her own, but had business to do.

He couldn’t pester Mommy by crying like Leah did.

Michael sat in his office. He never got off work, so Mr. York didn’t dare to leave.

He looked at the time and saw that it was already twelve o’clock. Michael didn’t seem to have any intention of leaving work.

Finally, Mr. York had the courage to say, "President, it’s already very late, so when are you going to go back?"

Michael lowered his head, looked at the documents in front of him, and replied without raising his head, "You can leave work first."

Hearing Michael’s words, Mr. York nodded his head as if he had been pardoned and said, "Then I’ll leave first."

After he turned around and walked a few steps, the smile on Mr. York’s face faded, and then he stopped in his tracks.

"Want to work overtime together?" Michael asked in a cold voice.

"No, president, Mrs. Lucas’ flight is tomorrow morning, so are you sure you don’t want to go back early?" Mr. York watched Michael avoid Wendy for the last few days and was anxious for him.

Michael was so angry and heartless on the surface, but once Wendy leaves tomorrow, he would definitely regret that he didn’t spend more time with her these days.

Michael smiled, raised his eyes, and gave him a

cold look.

Mr. York did not dare to say anything and immediately smiled as he slipped away.

Michael was the only one left in the office, and the quiet atmosphere made his mind empty.

He could not read these documents at all.

Taking out his phone, Michael pressed the screen.

The screen saver was his and Wendy’s wedding photo, the one with them kissing against the light.

His coldness these days was actually a silent protest.

He knew he was being childish, but he couldn’t help it, because he had a bad feeling about the situation.

"May I come in, Mr. Lucas?" Wendy’s voice sounded at the door.

The sudden sound of the voice in the empty and quiet office made Michael raise his head subconsciously.

"What brings you here?" Michael put down his phone. It was impossible to detect any happiness or anger in his tone.

"Seeing you work so hard, I prepared some snacks for you." Wendy put the thermos box on the table, opened the lid and said, "You should be hungry this late in the evening, so eat something before you work."

Michael did not eat anything at night and was hungry at this moment.

Smelling the aroma, Michael became more and more hungry.

"No, I’m not hungry." Michael swallowed hard and told a lie.

Ever since Wendy threw a tantrum last time, the atmosphere in the house was strange.

She sighed and sat straight in her chair as she said, "Michael, I know you’re not happy, but I’ve made up my mind. I want you to support me, okay?"

Wendy packed her bags and put the two kids to bed before Michael even came back.

She knew, of course, that Michael was angry, so she made some refreshments and came to the office herself.

She hoped that before she left, she and Michael could talk things out calmly, otherwise Wendy would feel guilty about it.

"I can’t stop you if you want to go, but I don’t support you." Michael shook his head and said in a firm tone, "We each have our own position on this matter. You can go and repay your kindness, but you can’t force me to send you away with a smile on my face."

Wendy felt a little powerless.

With a sigh, Wendy said, "You should eat something first."

Looking at the utensils in front of him, Michael finally reached out and took them.

Wendy’s cooking was actually quite good, but the food tasted tasteless to Michael at this time.

After watching Michael take a few bites, Wendy didn’t know what else to say for a while.

"Go home, you can’t just spend the night in the office today, right?" Wendy saw Michael put down his utensils, put away his lunchbox, and reached out to pull him up.
